Haggai In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

1 H8147 In the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H4428 the king, H8345 in the sixth H2320 month, H259 in the first H3117 day H2320 of the month, H1697 came the word H3068 of the LORD H3027 by H2292 Haggai H5030 the prophet H2216 to Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H6346 governor H3063 of Judah, H3091 and to Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Josedech, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H559 [H8800] saying,

2 H559 [H8804] Thus speaketh H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H559 [H8800] saying, H5971 This people H559 [H8804] say, H6256 The time H935 [H8800] is not come, H6256 the time H3068 that the LORD'S H1004 house H1129 [H8736] should be built.

3 H1697 Then came the word H3068 of the LORD H3027 by H2292 Haggai H5030 the prophet, H559 [H8800] saying,

4 H6256 Is it time H3427 [H8800] for you, O ye, to dwell H5603 [H8803] in your panelled H1004 houses, H1004 and this house H2720 lie waste?

5 H559 [H8804] Now therefore thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts; H7760 H3824 [H8798] Consider H1870 your ways.

6 H2232 [H8804] Ye have sown H7235 [H8687] much, H935 [H8687] and bring H4592 in little; H398 [H8800] ye eat, H7654 but ye have not enough; H8354 [H8800] ye drink, H7937 [H8800] but ye are not filled with drink; H3847 [H8800] ye clothe H2527 yourselves, but there is none warm; H7936 [H8693] and he that earneth wages H7936 [H8693] earneth wages H5344 [H8803] to put it into a punctured H6872 bag.

7 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts; H7760 H3824 [H8798] Consider H1870 your ways.

8 H5927 [H8798] Go up H2022 to the mountain, H935 [H8689] and bring H6086 wood, H1129 [H8798] and build H1004 the house; H7521 [H8799] and I will take pleasure H3513 [H8735] in it, and I will be glorified, H559 [H8804] saith H3068 the LORD.

9 H6437 [H8800] Ye looked H7235 [H8687] for much, H4592 and, lo, it came to little; H935 [H8689] and when ye brought H1004 it home, H5301 [H8804] I did blow H5002 [H8803] upon it. Why? saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts. H3282 Because H1004 of my house H2720 that is waste, H7323 [H8801] and ye run H376 every man H1004 to his own house.

10 H8064 Therefore the heavens H3607 [H8804] over you withhold H2919 the dew, H776 and the earth H3607 [H8804] withholdeth H2981 her fruit.

11 H7121 [H8799] And I called H2721 for a drought H776 upon the land, H2022 and upon the mountains, H1715 and upon the grain, H8492 and upon the new wine, H3323 and upon the oil, H127 and upon that which the soil H3318 [H8686] bringeth forth, H120 and upon men, H929 and upon cattle, H3018 and upon all the labour H3709 of the palms.

12 H2216 Then Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H3091 and Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Josedech, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H7611 with all the remnant H5971 of the people, H8085 [H8799] obeyed H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H430 their God, H1697 and the words H2292 of Haggai H5030 the prophet, H3068 as the LORD H430 their God H7971 [H8804] had sent H5971 him, and the people H3372 [H8799] did fear H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD.

13 H559 [H8799] Then spoke H2292 Haggai H3068 the LORD'S H4397 messenger H3068 in the LORD'S H4400 message H5971 to the people, H559 [H8800] saying, H5002 [H8803] I am with you, saith H3068 the LORD.

14 H3068 And the LORD H5782 [H8686] stirred up H7307 the spirit H2216 of Zerubbabel H1121 the son H7597 of Shealtiel, H6346 governor H3063 of Judah, H7307 and the spirit H3091 of Joshua H1121 the son H3087 of Josedech, H1419 the high H3548 priest, H7307 and the spirit H7611 of all the remnant H5971 of the people; H935 [H8799] and they came H6213 [H8799] and did H4399 work H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD H6635 of hosts, H430 their God,

15 H702 In the four H6242 and twentieth H3117 day H8345 of the sixth H2320 month, H8147 in the second H8141 year H1867 of Darius H4428 the king.
