Exodus 17 And all the company of the sons of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the mouth of the LORD, and encamped in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

1 H9001 And H3605 all H5712 the company H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel H5265 [H8799] journeyed H4057 from the wilderness H5512 of Sin, H4550 after their journeys, H6310 according to the mouth H3068 of the LORD, H2583 [H8799] and encamped H7508 in Rephidim: H4325 and there was no water H5971 for the people H8354 [H8800] to drink.

2 H5971 Therefore the people H7378 [H8799] contended H4872 with Moses, H559 [H8799] and said, H5414 [H8798] Give H4325 us water H8354 [H8799] that we may drink. H4872 And Moses H559 [H8799] said H7378 [H8799] to them, Why contend H5254 [H8762] you with me? why do ye test H3068 the LORD?

3 H5971 And the people H6770 [H8799] thirsted H4325 there for water; H5971 and the people H3885 [H8686] murmured H4872 against Moses, H559 [H8799] and said, H5927 [H8689] Why is this that thou hast brought H4714 us out of Egypt, H4191 [H8687] to kill H1121 us and our sons H4735 and our cattle H6772 with thirst?

4 H4872 And Moses H6817 [H8799] shrieked H3068 to the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying, H6213 [H8799] What shall I do H5971 to this people? H4592 they are almost H5619 [H8804] ready to stone me.

5 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H4872 to Moses, H5674 [H8798] Go on H6440 at the face of H5971 the people, H3947 [H8798] and take H2205 with thee of the elders H3478 of Israel; H4294 and thy rod, H5221 [H8689] with which thou smotest H2975 the river, H3947 [H8798] take H3027 in thine hand, H1980 [H8804] and go.

6 H5975 [H8802] Behold, I will stand H6440 at the face of H6697 thee there on the rock H2722 in Horeb; H5221 [H8689] and thou shalt smite H6697 the rock, H4325 and water H3318 [H8804] shall come H5971 out of it, that the people H8354 [H8804] may drink. H4872 And Moses H6213 [H8799] did H5869 so in the eyes H2205 of the elders H3478 of Israel.

7 H7121 [H8799] And he called H8034 the name H4725 of the place H4532 Massah, H4809 and Meribah, H7379 because of the striving H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel, H5254 [H8763] and because they tested H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying, H3426 Is H3068 the LORD H7130 among us, or not?

8 H935 [H8799] Then came H6002 Amalek, H3898 [H8735] and fought H3478 with Israel H7508 in Rephidim.

9 H4872 And Moses H559 [H8799] said H3091 to Joshua, H977 [H8798] Choose us out H582 men, H3318 [H8798] and go out, H3898 [H8734] fight H6002 with Amalek: H4279 to morrow H5324 [H8737] I will stand H7218 on the top H1389 of the hill H4294 with the rod H430 of God H3027 in my hand.

10 H3091 So Joshua H6213 [H8799] did H4872 as Moses H559 [H8804] had said H3898 [H8736] to him, and fought H6002 with Amalek: H4872 and Moses, H175 Aaron, H2354 and Hur H5927 [H8804] went up H7218 to the top H1389 of the hill.

11 H4872 And it came to pass, when Moses H7311 [H8686] held up H3027 his hand, H3478 that Israel H1396 [H8804] prevailed: H5117 [H8686] and when he let down H3027 his hand, H6002 Amalek H1396 [H8804] prevailed.

12 H4872 But Moses' H3027 hands H3515 were heavy; H3947 [H8799] and they took H68 a stone, H7760 [H8799] and put H3427 [H8799] it under him, and he sat H175 on it; and Aaron H2354 and Hur H8551 [H8804] held up H3027 his hands, H259 the one on the one side, H259 and the other on the other side; H3027 and his hands H530 were steady H935 [H8800] until the going down H8121 of the sun.

13 H3091 And Joshua H2522 [H8799] overcame H6002 Amalek H5971 and his people H6310 with the edge H2719 of the sword.

14 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H4872 to Moses, H3789 [H8798] Write H2146 this for a memorial H5612 in a book, H7760 [H8798] and rehearse H241 it in the ears H3091 of Joshua: H4229 [H8800] for I will utterly H4229 [H8799] blot out H2143 the remembrance H6002 of Amalek H8064 from under heaven.

15 H4872 And Moses H1129 [H8799] built H4196 an altar, H7121 [H8799] and called H8034 the name H3071 of it The LORD is My Banner:

16 H559 [H8799] For he said, H3050 Because the LORD H3027 H3676 hath sworn H3068 that the LORD H4421 will have war H6002 with Amalek H1755 from generation H1755 to generation.
