1 Samuel 30 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

1 H1732 And it came to pass, when David H582 and his men H935 [H8800] were come H6860 to Ziklag H7992 on the third H3117 day, H6003 that the Amalekites H6584 [H8804] had invaded H5045 the south, H6860 and Ziklag, H5221 [H8686] and smitten H6860 Ziklag, H8313 [H8799] and burned H784 it with fire;

2 H802 And had taken the women H7617 [H8799] captives, H4191 [H8689] that were in it: they slew H376 not any, H1419 either great H6996 or small, H5090 [H8799] but carried them away, H3212 [H8799] and went H1870 on their way.

3 H1732 So David H582 and his men H935 [H8799] came H5892 to the city, H8313 [H8803] and, behold, it was burned H784 with fire; H802 and their wives, H1121 and their sons, H1323 and their daughters, H7617 [H8738] were taken captives.

4 H1732 Then David H5971 and the people H5375 [H8799] that were with him lifted up H6963 their voice H1058 [H8799] and wept, H3581 until they had no more power H1058 [H8800] to weep.

5 H1732 And David's H8147 two H802 wives H7617 [H8738] were taken captives, H293 Ahinoam H3159 the Jezreelitess, H26 and Abigail H802 the wife H5037 of Nabal H3761 the Carmelite.

6 H1732 And David H3966 was greatly H3334 [H8799] distressed; H5971 for the people H559 [H8804] spoke H5619 [H8800] of stoning H5315 him, because the breath H5971 of all the people H4843 [H8804] was grieved, H376 every man H1121 for his sons H1323 and for his daughters: H1732 but David H2388 [H8691] encouraged H3068 himself in the LORD H430 his God.

7 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H54 to Abiathar H3548 the priest, H288 Ahimelech's H1121 son, H5066 [H8685] I pray thee, bring me here H646 the ephod. H54 And Abiathar H5066 [H8686] brought H646 there the ephod H1732 to David.

8 H1732 And David H7592 [H8799] enquired H3068 of the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying, H7291 H310 [H8799] Shall I pursue H1416 this troop? H5381 [H8686] shall I overtake H559 [H8799] them? And he answered H7291 [H8798] him, Pursue: H5381 [H8687] for thou shalt surely H5381 [H8686] overtake H5337 [H8687] them, and without fail H5337 [H8686] recover all.

9 H1732 So David H3212 [H8799] went, H8337 he and the six H3967 hundred H376 men H935 [H8799] that were with him, and came H5158 to the brook H1308 Besor, H3498 [H8737] where those that were left behind H5975 [H8804] remained.

10 H1732 But David H7291 [H8799] pursued, H702 he and four H3967 hundred H376 men: H3967 for two hundred H5975 [H8799] abode behind, H6296 [H8765] who were so faint H5674 [H8800] that they could not go over H5158 the brook H1308 Besor.

11 H4672 [H8799] And they found H376 H4713 an Egyptian H7704 in the field, H3947 [H8799] and brought H1732 him to David, H5414 [H8799] and gave H3899 him bread, H398 [H8799] and he ate; H8248 [H8686] and they made him drink H4325 water;

12 H5414 [H8799] And they gave H6400 him a piece H1690 of a cake H8147 of figs, and two H6778 clusters of raisins: H398 [H8799] and when he had eaten, H7307 his spirit H7725 [H8799] came again H398 [H8804] to him: for he had eaten H3899 no bread, H8354 [H8804] nor drunk H4325 any water, H7969 three H3117 days H7969 and three H3915 nights.

13 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H559 [H8799] to him, To whom belongest thou? and from where art thou? And he said, H5288 I am a young man H4713 of Egypt, H5650 servant H376 H6003 to an Amalekite; H113 and my master H5800 [H8799] left H7969 me, because three H3117 days H2470 [H8804] ago I fell sick.

14 H6584 [H8804] We made an invasion H5045 upon the south H3774 of the Cherethites, H3063 and upon the land which belongeth to Judah, H5045 and upon the south H3612 of Caleb; H8313 [H8804] and we burned H6860 Ziklag H784 with fire.

15 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H3381 [H8686] to him, Canst thou bring me down H1416 to this company? H559 [H8799] And he said, H7650 [H8734] Swear H430 to me by God, H4191 [H8686] that thou wilt neither kill H518 me, nor H5462 [H8686] deliver H3027 me into the hands H113 of my master, H3381 [H8686] and I will bring thee down H1416 to this company.

16 H3381 [H8686] And when he had brought him down, H5203 [H8803] behold, they were spread abroad H6440 upon all H776 the earth, H398 [H8802] eating H8354 [H8802] and drinking, H2287 [H8802] and dancing, H1419 because of all the great H7998 spoil H3947 [H8804] that they had taken H776 from the land H6430 of the Philistines, H776 and from the land H3063 of Judah.

17 H1732 And David H5221 [H8686] smote H5399 them from the twilight H6153 even to the evening H4283 of the next day: H4422 [H8738] and there escaped H376 not a man H702 of them, except four H3967 hundred H5288 young H376 men, H7392 [H8804] who rode H1581 upon camels, H5127 [H8799] and fled.

18 H1732 And David H5337 [H8686] recovered H6002 all that the Amalekites H3947 [H8804] had carried away: H1732 and David H5337 [H8689] rescued H8147 his two H802 wives.

19 H5737 [H8738] And there was nothing lacking H4480 to them, neither H6996 small H1419 nor great, H1121 neither sons H1323 nor daughters, H7998 neither spoil, H3947 [H8804] nor any thing that they had taken H1732 to them: David H7725 [H8689] recovered all.

20 H1732 And David H3947 [H8799] took H6629 all the flocks H1241 and the herds, H5090 [H8804] which they drove H6440 at the face of H1931 those H4735 other cattle, H559 [H8799] and said, H1732 This is David's H7998 spoil.

21 H1732 And David H935 [H8799] came H3967 to the two hundred H582 men, H6296 [H8765] who were so faint H3212 H310 [H8800] that they could not follow H1732 David, H3427 [H8686] whom they had made also to abide H5158 at the brook H1308 Besor: H3318 [H8799] and they went forth H7125 [H8800] to meet H1732 David, H7125 [H8800] and to meet H5971 the people H1732 that were with him: and when David H5066 [H8799] came near H5971 to the people, H7592 H7965 [H8799] he greeted them.

22 H6030 [H8799] Then answered H7451 all the wicked H1100 and worthless H376 men, H582 of those H1980 [H8804] that went H1732 with David, H559 [H8799] and said, H1980 [H8804] Because they went H5414 [H8799] not with us, we will not give H7998 them any of the spoil H5337 [H8689] that we have recovered, H376 except to every man H802 his wife H1121 and his sons, H5090 [H8799] that they may lead them away, H3212 [H8799] and depart.

23 H559 [H8799] Then said H1732 David, H6213 [H8799] Ye shall not do so, H251 my brethren, H3068 with that which the LORD H5414 [H8804] hath given H8104 [H8799] us, who hath preserved H5414 [H8799] us, and given H1416 the company H935 [H8802] that came H3027 against us into our hand.

24 H8085 [H8799] For who will hearken H1697 to you in this matter? H2506 but as his part H3381 H3381 [H8802] is that goeth down H4421 to the battle, H2506 so shall his part H3427 [H8802] be that tarrieth H3627 by the baggage: H2505 [H8799] they shall divide H3162 alike.

25 H3117 And it was so from that day H4605 onward, H7760 [H8799] that he made H2706 it a statute H4941 and an judgment H3478 for Israel H3117 to this day.

26 H1732 And when David H935 [H8799] came H6860 to Ziklag, H7971 [H8762] he sent H7998 of the spoil H2205 to the elders H3063 of Judah, H7453 even to his friends, H559 [H8800] saying, H1293 Behold a present H7998 for you of the spoil H341 [H8802] of the enemies H3068 of the LORD;

27 H834 To them H1008 who were in Bethel, H5045 and to them who were in south H7418 Ramoth, H3492 and to them who were in Jattir,

28 H6177 And to them who were in Aroer, H8224 and to them who were in Siphmoth, H851 and to them who were in Eshtemoa,

29 H7403 And to them who were in Rachal, H5892 and to them who were in the cities H3397 of the Jerahmeelites, H5892 and to them who were in the cities H7017 of the Kenites,

30 H2767 And to them who were in Hormah, H3565 and to them who were in Chorashan, H6269 and to them who were in Athach,

31 H2275 And to them who were in Hebron, H4725 and to all the places H1732 where David H582 himself and his men H1980 [H8694] were accustomed to resort.
