4 H7198 The bows H1368 of the mighty men H2844 are broken, H3782 [H8737] and they that stumbled H247 [H8804] are girded H2428 with strength.

5 H7649 They that were full H7936 [H8738] have hired out H3899 themselves for bread; H7457 and they that were hungry H2308 [H8804] ceased: H6135 so that the barren H3205 [H8804] hath borne H7651 seven; H7227 and she that hath many H1121 sons H535 [H8797] is become feeble.

17 H2403 Therefore the sin H5288 of the young men H3966 was very H1419 great H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD: H582 for men H5006 [H8765] abhorred H4503 the offering H3068 of the LORD.

18 H8050 But Samuel H8334 [H8764] ministered H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD, H5288 being a child, H2296 [H8803] girded H906 with a linen H646 ephod.

19 H517 Moreover his mother H6213 [H8799] made H6996 him a little H4598 coat, H5927 [H8689] and brought H3117 it to him from year H3117 to year, H5927 [H8800] when she came up H376 with her husband H2076 [H8800] to offer H3117 the yearly H2077 sacrifice.

21 H3588 And H3068 the LORD H6485 [H8804] visited H2584 Hannah, H2029 [H8799] so that she conceived, H3205 [H8799] and bore H7969 three H1121 sons H8147 and two H1323 daughters. H5288 And the child H8050 Samuel H1431 [H8799] grew H5973 before H3068 the LORD.

22 H5941 Now Eli H3966 was very H2204 [H8804] old, H8085 [H8804] and heard H1121 all that his sons H6213 [H8799] did H3478 to all Israel; H7901 [H8799] and how they lay H802 with the women H6633 [H8802] that assembled H6607 at the door H168 of the tent H4150 of meeting.

23 H559 [H8799] And he said H6213 [H8799] to them, Why do H1697 ye such things? H8085 [H8802] for I hear H7451 of your evil H1697 dealings H5971 by all this people.

24 H1121 Nay, my sons; H2896 for it is no good H8052 report H8085 [H8802] that I hear: H3068 ye make the LORD'S H5971 people H5674 [H8688] to transgress.

25 H376 If one man H2398 [H8799] shall sin H376 against another, H430 the judge H6419 [H8765] shall judge H376 him: but if a man H2398 [H8799] shall sin H3068 against the LORD, H6419 [H8691] who shall plead H8085 [H8799] for him? However they hearkened H6963 not to the voice H1 of their father, H3068 because the LORD H2654 [H8804] would H4191 [H8687] slay them.

26 H5288 And the child H8050 Samuel H1980 [H8802] continued H1432 to grow, H2896 and was in favour H3068 both with the LORD, H582 and also with men.

27 H935 [H8799] And there came H376 a man H430 of God H5941 to Eli, H559 [H8799] and said H559 [H8804] to him, Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H1540 [H8736] Did I plainly H1540 [H8738] appear H1004 to the house H1 of thy father, H4714 when they were in Egypt H6547 in Pharaoh's H1004 house?

28 H977 [H8800] And did I choose H7626 him out of all the tribes H3478 of Israel H3548 to be my priest, H5927 [H8800] to offer H4196 upon my altar, H6999 [H8687] to burn H7004 incense, H5375 [H8800] to wear H646 an ephod H6440 at the face of H5414 [H8799] me? and did I give H1004 to the house H1 of thy father H801 all the offerings made by fire H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel?

29 H1163 [H8799] Why trample H2077 ye at my sacrifice H4503 and at my offering, H6680 [H8765] which I have commanded H4583 in my habitation; H3513 [H8762] and honourest H1121 thy sons H1254 [H8687] above me, to make yourselves fat H7225 with the chiefest H4503 of all the offerings H3478 of Israel H5971 my people?

30 H3068 Therefore the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H5002 [H8803] saith, H559 [H8804] I said H559 [H8800] indeed H1004 that thy house, H1004 and the house H1 of thy father, H1980 [H8691] should walk H6440 at the face of H5704 me for H5769 ever: H3068 but now the LORD H5002 [H8803] saith, H2486 Be it far from me; H3513 [H8764] for them that honour H3513 [H8762] me I will honour, H959 [H8802] and they that despise H7043 [H8799] me shall be lightly esteemed.

31 H3117 Behold, the days H935 [H8802] come, H1438 [H8804] that I will cut off H2220 thy arm, H2220 and the arm H1 of thy father's H1004 house, H2205 that there shall not be an old man H1004 in thy house.

32 H5027 [H8689] And thou shalt see H6862 a constricter H4583 in my habitation, H3190 [H8686] in all the wealth which God shall give H3478 Israel: H2205 and there shall not be an old man H1004 in thy house H3117 for ever.

33 H376 And the man H3772 [H8686] of thine, whom I shall not cut off H4196 from mine altar, H3615 [H8763] shall be to consume H5869 thine eyes, H109 and to languish H5315 thy breath: H4768 and all the increase H1004 of thine house H4191 [H8799] shall die H582 in the flower of their age.

34 H226 And this shall be a sign H935 [H8799] to thee, that shall come H8147 upon thy two H1121 sons, H2652 on Hophni H6372 and Phinehas; H259 in one H3117 day H4191 [H8799] they shall die H8147 both of them.

35 H6965 [H8689] And I will raise up for myself H539 [H8737] a faithful H3548 priest, H6213 [H8799] that shall do H3824 according to that which is in my heart H5315 and in my breath: H1129 [H8804] and I will build H539 [H8737] him a sure H1004 house; H1980 [H8694] and he shall walk H6440 at the face of H4899 my anointed H3117 for ever.

36 H3498 [H8737] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left H1004 in thy house H935 [H8799] shall come H7812 [H8692] and bow down H95 to him for a piece H3701 of silver H3603 and a morsel H3899 of bread, H559 [H8804] and shall say, H5596 [H8798] Put H259 me, I pray thee, into one H3550 of the priests' offices, H398 [H8800] that I may eat H6595 a piece H3899 of bread.
