⁴ Upon which Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom do ye seek? They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene.

²¹ And from that time began Jesus to acquaint his disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes; and be put to death, and be raised again on the third day.

²² And while they were in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men: ²³ and they will put Him to death, and the third day He shall be raised again. And they were exceedingly grieved.

¹⁸ and the son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and deliver Him up to the gentiles, to insult, and to scourge, and to crucify Him. But on the third day He shall rise again.

² Ye know that after two days the passover is to be kept,---and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

²¹ and as they were eating, He said, Verily I tell you, that one of you will betray me.

³¹ Then saith Jesus unto them, Ye will all take offence at me this night; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered:"

³³ saying, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles; ³⁴ and they will insult Him, and scourge Him, and spit upon Him, and put Him to death: but on the third day He shall rise again.

³¹ And He took the twelve with Him and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and insulted, and abused, and spit upon, and they will scourge Him, and put Him to death: ³³ and the third day He shall rise again.

⁶ He is not here, He is risen: remember how He spake to you, when He was yet in Galilee, ⁷ saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of wicked men, and be crucified; and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all the things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and Psalms, concerning me.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that believe not: (for Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who would betray Him:

¹⁷ For this doth the Father love me; because I lay down my life: that I may take it again. ¹⁸ None taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received from my Father.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, (Jesus knowing that his hour was come, when He should pass out of this world unto the Father, as He had loved his own, who were yet in the world, He loved them unto the end:)

¹¹ For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, Ye are not all clean.

⁷ Then He asked them again, Whom do ye seek?

²⁸ After this Jesus knowing that all things were now finished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; and Thou wilt fill me with joy by the light of thy countenance."

²⁴ And when they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, who hast made heaven and earth, and sea, and all things therein: ²⁵ who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his anointed. ²⁷ For of a truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, the Gentiles and the people of Israel, combined against thy holy child Jesus, ²⁸ (whom Thou hast anointed,) to do whatever thy hand and thy counsel had before determined to be done.

²² And now, being constrained by the spirit, behold I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will befal me there: ²³ save that the holy Spirit testifieth in every city, that bonds and afflictions await me.

¹ Seeing therefore Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same thought, that he, who hath mortified the flesh, hath ceased from sin;
