¹ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

⁹ Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? And having ears, hear ye not? And do not ye remember?

¹⁵ But that on the good ground are they, who, having heard the word, keep it in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with perseverance.

⁴⁴ he said to his disciples, Let these sayings sink down into your ears; for the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

¹ God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake of old to the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son; ² Whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom he also made the worlds:

² For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence: ³ How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation, which began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that had heard him? ⁴ God also bearing them witness by signs, and wonders, and various miracles, and distributions of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.

⁵ And yet ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh to you as to sons, My son, despise not thou the chastning of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him.

²⁵ for if they escaped not who refused him that delivered the oracle on earth, much more shall not we, who turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: ²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.

¹² Wherefore I will not neglect always to remind you of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth, ¹³ Yea I think it right, so long as I am in this tabernacle to stir you up by reminding you:

¹⁵ But I will endeavour, that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

¹ This second epistle, beloved, I now write to you, in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance,
