¹⁸ And be not drunken with wine,

²⁵ Wo to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish; but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.

⁴⁹ And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken:

¹⁵ For he shall be great before the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

¹³ Let us walk decently, as in the day; not in banqueting and drunken entertainments, not in uncleannesses and wantonness, not in strife and envy.

¹³ If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

⁴⁵ But if that servant say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming, and shall begin to beat the men servants and maidens, and to eat, and drink, and be drunken:

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overloaded with gluttony, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

¹³ But others mocking, said, They are full of sweet wine. ¹⁴ Then Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said to them, Men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known to you, and hearken to my words. ¹⁵ These are not drunken as ye suppose for it is but the third hour of the day. ¹⁶ But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel, ¹⁷ And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: ¹⁸ And in those days I will pour out of my Spirit upon my servants and upon my handmaids, and they shall prophecy.

²⁴ For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and faith. And a considerable multitude was added to the Lord.

¹¹ But I have now written unto you, if any who is named a brother, be a lewd person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or rapacious, not to converse with such an one, no, not to eat with him.

¹⁰ nor sodomites, Nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor revilers, nor the rapacious shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²¹ For in eating every one taketh before another his own supper, and one is hungry, another drinks largely.

²¹ emulations, wraths, strifes, divisions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of which I tell you before (as I have also told you in time past) that they who practise such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity, ²³ Meekness, temperance; against such there is no law. ²⁴ And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with its affections and desires. ²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

⁶ If a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of luxury or unruly.

³ For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ Wherein they think it strange, that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot,
