³ Simon Peter saith to them, I go a fishing. They say to him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a boat immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

¹ And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too narrow for us. ² Let us go, we pray thee, to Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye. ³ And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go. ⁴ So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood. ⁵ But as one was felling a beam, the ax head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. ⁶ And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron floated. ⁷ Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

¹⁸ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. ¹⁹ And he saith to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And they immediately left their nets, and followed him.

⁵ And Simon answering said to him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.

¹⁰ And so was also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men. ¹¹ And when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

³ And because he was of the same occupation, he abode with them, and wrought (for by their occupation they were tent-makers)

⁷ For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; ⁸ Neither did we eat any man's bread for naught; but wrought with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: ⁹ Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves a pattern to you to follow us.
