⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

² They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. ³ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things: ⁴ Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yea, your law is within my heart. ⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, you know. ¹⁰ I have not hid your righteousness within my heart; I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation: I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great congregation.

⁶ And if he comes to see me, he speaks vanity: his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he tells it. ⁷ All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

² The tongue devises evil; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. ³ You love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. ⁴ You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.

⁷ Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, does hear?

¹² For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

³ Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: ⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privately; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. ⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. ⁸ So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

¹⁵ My mouth shall show forth your righteousness and your salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. ¹⁶ I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of your righteousness, even of your only. ¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth: and until now have I declared your wondrous works. ¹⁸ Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed your strength unto this generation, and your power to every one that is to come.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

²⁰ The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for lack of wisdom.

¹⁸ There is that speaks like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

¹⁷ Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge. ¹⁸ For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall likewise be fitted in your lips.

³⁸ He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma) and to keep back part of the price of the land?

¹⁹ Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. (o. pneuma) ²⁰ But Peter said unto him, Your money perish with you, because you have thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ You have neither part nor lot in this matter: (o. logos) for your heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. ²³ For I perceive that you are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

¹³ Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication (o. logos) proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints; ⁴ Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

¹⁹ Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

¹⁶ Let the (o. logos) word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

⁶ Let your (o. logos) speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that all of you may know how all of you ought to answer every man.

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed of mankind: ⁸ But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁵ To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
