⁸ for the Lord had emboldened the heart of Pharao king of Egypt and of his attendants: he pursued the Israelites. Though the Israelites had gone out with a high hand,

¹ Then the Lord said to Moses, Now thou shalt see what I will do to Pharao; for by a strong hand he shall let them go; and by an uplifted arm he shall drive them out of his land.

⁹ And it shall be to thee for a sign on thy hand and for a memorial before thy eyes, that the law of the Lord may be in thy mouth; for with a strong hand the Lord thy God hath brought thee out of Egypt;

¹⁶ And it shall be for a sign on thy hand, and immoveably before thy eyes. For with a strong hand the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

¹⁸ therefore God led the people by a circuitous march to the wilderness; to the Red sea. And in the fifth generation the Israelites went up out of the land of Egypt.

⁴ And I will make Pharao's heart stout, so that he will pursue them, and I shall be glorified by Pharao and by all his army. And all the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord. Accordingly the Israelites did so.

³ They removed from Ramesses, in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the next morning after the passover, the Israelites came out with a high hand, in the sight of all the Egyptians,

⁸ the Lord himself brought us out of Egypt with his great power, and with his strong hand, and outstretched arm, and with great visions, and with signs, and with wonders,

²⁷ Had it not been for the temper of enemies; That the adversaries might not out live them; That they might not fall upon them at once; Lest they should say, Our own high hand, And not the Lord, hath done all this.

¹³ For thy mercy to me hath been great; thou hast delivered my soul from the deepest mansion of the dead.

¹⁷ The God of the people Israel chose our fathers and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm brought them out of it;
