³⁹ He entered and said: »Why all the commotion and why do you weep. The child is not dead but sleeps.«

² »Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

¹¹ Then he told them: »Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. I go to wake him out of sleep.« ¹² The disciples said, »Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he would recover.« ¹³ Jesus spoke of his death. They thought he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
