Hebrews 1:1 Cross References - NSB

1 Long ago on many occasions and in many ways God spoke to our fathers through the prophets.

Genesis 3:15

15 »And I will put enmity (hostility) (hatred) between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers. He will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) you in the head, and you will bruise (overwhelm) (crush) him in the heel.« (Romans 16:20)

Genesis 6:3

3 Jehovah said: »My Spirit will not contend (judge) (plead) with man forever, for he is mortal and corrupt. Therefore his days will be a hundred and twenty years.«

Genesis 6:13-22

13 God said to Noah: »I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am going to destroy them with the earth. 14 »BUILD AN ARK of cypress wood (a resinous tree). Make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 »This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be four hundred and fifty feet long, seventy-five feet wide, and forty-five feet high. 16 »Build a roof on it and finish the ark to within eighteen inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle, and upper decks. 17 »I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens. Every creature that has the breath of life in it, everything on earth will perish. 18 »But I will establish my covenant with you. You will enter the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 »Bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 »Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal, and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 »Take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.« 22 Noah did everything exactly as God commanded him.

Genesis 8:15-19

15 God said to Noah: 16 »Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 17 »Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you, the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground. They will multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it.« 18 Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds, everything that moves on the earth came out of the ark, one kind after another.

Genesis 9:1-17

1 God blessed Noah and his sons. He said: »Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. 2 »All the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air will be filled with fear and dread of you. Every creature that moves along the ground and all the fish of the sea are placed under your control. 3 »Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. 4 »You must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5 »I will require your lifeblood as an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. I will demand an accounting from each man for the life of his fellow man. 6 »Whoever sheds the blood of man will have his blood shed by man. For man was made in the image of God. 7 »You should be fruitful and increase in number. Multiply (increase) on the earth.« 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 »I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 »and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on earth. 11 »I establish my covenant with you: Never again will the waters of a flood destroy all life. Never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.« 12 God said: »This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 »I give you my rainbow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world of mankind. 14 »Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 »I will remember my covenant with you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters flood to destroy all life. 16 »Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the long lasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.« 17 God said: »This is the sign of the covenant I have established with all life on the earth.«

I will give the land on which you are lying to you and your descendants. 14 »Your descendants will be like the dust on the earth. You will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. Every family on earth will be blessed through you and through your descendants. 15 »Remember, I am with you. I will watch over you wherever you go. I will also bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I do what I have promised you.«

He gave him a blow in the hollow part of his thigh, so that his leg was damaged. 26 He said to him: »Let me go now, for the dawn is near.« But Jacob said: »I will not let you go till you have given me your blessing.« 27 Then he asked: »What is your name?« And he said, »Jacob.« 28 The man said: »Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel (He Struggles With God), because you have struggled with God and with men and you have won.« 29 Jacob said: »Please tell me your name.« The man answered: »Why do you ask for my name?« Then he blessed Jacob there. 30 Jacob named that place Peniel (Face of God), because he said: »I have seen God face to face, yet my life was saved.«

Exodus 3:1-22

1 One day Moses was taking care of the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock across the desert to Sinai, the holy mountain. 2 There the angel of Jehovah appeared to him in a flame of fire coming from the middle of a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire but that it was not burning up. 3 »This is strange,« he thought. »Why is the bush not burning up? I will go closer and see.« 4 Jehovah saw that Moses came closer. He called to him from the middle of the bush: »Moses! Moses!« Moses answered: »Yes, here I am.« 5 God said: »Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. 6 »I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.« Moses covered his face, because he was afraid to look at God. 7 Jehovah said: »I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt. I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them. 8 »I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians. I will bring my people out of Egypt into a country where there is good land, rich with milk and honey. I will give them the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. 9 »My people have begged for my help. I have seen how cruel the Egyptians are to them. 10 »Now go to Pharaoh! I am sending you to lead my people out of his country.« 11 But Moses said: »Who am I to go to Pharaoh and lead your people out of Egypt?« 12 God said: »I will be with you! This shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.« 13 Then Moses said to God: »Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel. I will say to them: ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may ask me: ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?’« 14 God then said to Moses: »[I exist and] I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE.« You shall say to the sons of Israel: »I WILL BE, has sent me to you.’« (Hebrew: hayah, »I was, I am, I will be« gives evidence of God’s eternal existence) 15 God, further said to Moses: »You shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘JEHOVAH, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ (JEHOVAH) THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER! This is my memorial-name to all generations. 16 Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them: JEHOVAH, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me. He said: »I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt.« 17 »So I said: ‘I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.«’ 18 »They will listen to what you say. You with the elders of Israel will approach the king of Egypt. You will say to him: ‘Jehovah the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So now, please, let us go a three days journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Jehovah our God.’ 19 »I know that the king of Egypt will not permit you to go, except under compulsion. 20 »So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders that I will do in it’s midst. After that he will let you go. 21 »I will grant this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. When you go you will not go empty handed. 22 »But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing. You will put them on your sons and daughters. Thus you will plunder the Egyptians.«

Numbers 12:6-8

6 He said: »Listen to my words: ‘When there are prophets of Jehovah among you, I make myself known to them in visions or speak to them in dreams. 7 »‘But this is not the way I treat my servant Moses. He is the most faithful person in my household. 8 »‘I speak with him face to face. I speak plainly and not in riddles. He even sees the form of Jehovah. Why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?’«

1 Peter 1:10-12

10 Concerning this salvation the prophets inquired and searched diligently! They prophesied about the grace that should come to you: 11 searching what time or what manner of time the spirit of Christ that was in them did point to, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them. 12 God revealed to the prophets that the things they spoke were not for their own benefit but for yours. The Holy Spirit was sent from heaven to make known to you what the prophets spoke. Those who spread the good news to you did this. These are things even the angels want to look into.

2 Peter 1:20-21

20 Know this first that no prophecy of scripture is for private interpretation. 21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man! Men spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
