³⁵ Jesus therefore said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness does not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

²² Let their table before them become a snare, and a retribution, and a trap, and a stumbling block. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can't see, and make their backs weak continually. ²⁴ Pour out your indignation on them. Let the fierceness of your anger overtake them. ²⁵ Let their habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell in their tents. ²⁶ For they persecute him whom you have wounded. They tell of the sorrow of those whom you have hurt. ²⁷ Charge them with crime upon crime. Do not let them come into your righteousness. ²⁸ Let them be blotted out of the Book of Life, and not be written with the righteous.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is like darkness. They do not know what they stumble over.

⁵ House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

⁶ "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations; ⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness. ¹⁷ But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is taken captive."

⁵ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it. ⁶ There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. ⁷ He came as a witness to testify about the light, that all might believe through him. ⁸ He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light. ⁹ The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

³³ Then Jesus said, "I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.

¹² Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

⁴ We must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work. ⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

¹⁰ But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light." Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

³⁹ For this cause they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

¹⁶ A little while, and you will no longer see me. Again a little while, and you will see me."

⁷ What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened. ⁸ According as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day. ⁹ David says, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a retribution to them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can't see, and their backs be bent continually."

¹² The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let us therefore throw off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk decently, as in the daytime; not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and lustful acts, and not in dissension and jealousy. ¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

¹⁴ But their minds were hardened, for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains, because in Christ it passes away.

⁸ For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." ¹⁵ Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;

⁵ You are all children of light, and children of the day. We do not belong to the night, nor to darkness, ⁶ so then let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁷ Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,

⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not tell the truth. ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

⁸ Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. ⁹ He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him. ¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
