¹ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their vast array.

¹ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

⁴ This is the account of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, at the time when God made the earth and the heavens.

¹⁹ and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.

³ and has gone and served other gods, and worshiped them, or the sun, or the moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;

¹⁵ Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, "The LORD, the God of Israel, who sit above the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

³ For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them. ⁴ He built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, "I will put my name in Jerusalem." ⁵ He built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

¹² Hiram continued, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for the LORD, and a house for his kingdom.

⁶ You are the LORD, even you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their army, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them, and you preserve them all. The army of heaven worships you.

⁹ Who doesn't know that in all these, the hand of the LORD has done this,

⁶ By the word of the LORD the heavens were made; and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

⁹ For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.

¹¹ The heavens are yours. The earth also is yours; the world and its fullness. You have founded them. ¹² The north and the south, you have created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. ¹³ You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.

² He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.

⁵ To him who by understanding made the heavens; for his loving kindness endures forever: ⁶ To him who spread out the earth above the waters; for his loving kindness endures forever: ⁷ To him who made the great lights; for his loving kindness endures forever: ⁸ The sun to rule by day; for his loving kindness endures forever;

⁶ who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever;

⁴ And all the host of heaven will rot away, and the heavens will be rolled up like a scroll. And all their host will wither, as a leaf withering from the vine, and as leaves withering from the fig tree.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their host by number. He calls them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking. ²⁷ Why do you say, Jacob, and why do you assert, Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God?" ²⁸ And now, haven't you known? Haven't you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the farthest parts of the earth, doesn't faint. He isn't weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

⁵ Thus says God, the LORD, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it.

¹² I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and I have commanded all their army.

¹⁸ For thus says the LORD who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and did not create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.

¹³ Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens: when I call to them, they stand up together.

⁹ "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

¹⁷ "For, look, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

² and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth.

¹² He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens:

¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the LORD of hosts is his name."

¹ An oracle. The word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him says:

¹³ Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,

²⁴ When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, "Lord, you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them.

⁴² But God turned, and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'Did you offer to me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

³ For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest;" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
