⁴⁴ And he sayde vnto them: These are the wordes which I spake vnto you, whyle I was yet with you: that al muste be fulfilled which was written of me in lawe of Moyses and in the prophetes and in the Psalmes.

¹⁵ Moreouer, I wyll put hatred betwene the & the woman, & betwene thy seed and her seed. And that seed shall tread the on thy heed, and thou shalt treade it on the hele.

¹⁸ Then Melchisedech kynge of Salem brought forth breade & wine. And he beynge the prieste of the moste hyghest God,

¹⁸ And in thy seed shal al the nacions of the erth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voyce.

¹⁰ The sceptre shal not departe from Iuda, nor a ruelar from betwene hys legges, vntyll Sylo come, vnto whome the people shal hark

² speake vnto Aaron thy brother that he goo at all tymes in to the holy place, that is within the vayle that hangeth before the mercyseate which is vpon the arck that he dye not. For I wyl appeare in a clowde vpon the mercyseate. ³ But of thys maner shall Aaron goo in to the holy place: with a bullock for a synneofferyng, and a ram for a burntofferyng. ⁴ And he shall put the holy lynen albe vpon hym, and shal haue a lynen breche vpon his flesh, and shal gyrde him with a lynen gyrdel, and put the lynen mytre vpon his heed: for they are holy raymentes. And he shal wasshe hys flesh wyth water, and put them on. ⁵ And he shall take of the multitude of the chyldren of Israell two he gootes for a synneofferyng & a ram for a burntofferyng. ⁶ And Aaron shall offer the bullock for hys synneoffryng & make an attonement for hym and for hys house. ⁷ And he shall take the two gootes & present them before the Lord in the dore of the tabernacle of witnesse. ⁸ And Aaron shall cast lottes ouer the twoo gootes: one lotte for the Lorde, and another for a scapegoote. ⁹ And Aaron shal brynge the goote vpon which the Lordes lotte fel, & offer hym for a synneofferyng. ¹⁰ But the goote on whych the lotte fell to scape, he shal set alyue before the Lorde to reconcyle wyth and to let hym goo fre in to the wyldernesse. ¹¹ And Aaron shall brynge the bullock of hys synneoffryng, and reconcyle for him selfe and for his houshold, and kyl hym. ¹² And then he shal take a censer ful of burnyng coles out of the alter that is before the Lord, and hys handfull of swete cens beten smal and bryng them within the vayl ¹³ & put the cens vpon the fyre before the Lord: that the cloude of the cens maye couer the mercyseate that is vpon the wytnesse, that he dye not. ¹⁴ And he shall take of the bloude of the bullock & sprynkle it wyth his fynger before the mercyseate eastwarde: euen .vij. tymes. ¹⁵ Then shall he kyll the goote that is the peoples synneoffryng, and bryng hys bloud wythin the vayle, and do with hys bloud as he dyd wyth the bloude of the bullock, and let hym sprynkle it toward the mercyseate, & before the mercyseate: ¹⁶ and reconcile the holy place from the vnclennesse of the children of Israell, and from their trespaces & all theyr synnes. And so let him do also vnto the tabernacle of wytnesse that dwelleth with them, euen among their vnclennesses. ¹⁷ And there shalbe no body in the tabernacle of wytnesse, when he goeth into make an attonement in the holy place, vntyl he come out agayn. And he shal make an attonement for hym selfe and for hys houshold, and for al the multitude of Israel. ¹⁸ Then he shall goo out vnto the alter that stondeth before the Lord, and reconcyle it, and shall take of the bloud of the bullock & of the bloude of the goote, & put it vpon the hornes of the altare rounde about, ¹⁹ and sprynkle of the bloude vpon it wt hys fynger seuen tymes, and clense it, and halowe it from the vnclennesses of the chyldren of Israell.

⁸ And the Lord saide vnto Moses. Make the a serpente, and hang it vp for a sygne, and let as many as are byten loke vpon it, and they shall lyue.

²⁵ And the congregracion shal deliuer the sleer out of the hande of the iudge of bloude, & shall restore hym agayn vnto the franchesed cytye, whether he was flead. And he shall byde there vnto the deth of the hye preast whych was anoynted with holy oyle.

¹⁵ The Lord thy God wyl sterre vp a Prophete amonge you: euen of thy brethren lyke vnto me: & vnto him ye shal herken ¹⁶ according to al that thou desyredest of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the daye when the people were gathered sayinge: Let me heare the voyce of my Lorde God no more, nor se thys greate fire any more, that I dye not. ¹⁷ And the Lord sayde vnto me: they haue wel spoken, ¹⁸ I wyl rayse them vp a prophet from among their brethren lyke vnto the & wyll put my wordes into his mouth & he shal speake vnto them al that I shal commaunde him. ¹⁹ And whosoeuer will not herken vnto the wordes whych he shall speake in my name, I wil requyre it of hym.

¹ VVhy do the Heathen grudge? why do the people ymagyne vayne thinges? ² The kynges of the earth stande vp, and the rulers are come to gether, agaynste the Lorde and agaynste hys anoynted. ³ Let vs breake their hondes a sunder, and cast away their yock from vs. ⁴ Neuerthelesse he that dwelleth in heauen, shall laughe them to scorne: yea euen the Lorde hym selfe shall haue them in derysyon. ⁵ Then shal he speake vnto them in hys wrath, and vexe them in hys sore displeasure. ⁶ Yet haue I sette my kyng vpon my holy hyll of syon. ⁷ As for me, I wyll preache the law, wherof the Lord hath sayde vnto me: Thou arte my sonne, this day haue I begotten the. ⁸ Desyre of me, and I shall geue the Heathen for thyne enherytaunce. Yea the vttermost partes of the worlde for thy possessyon. ⁹ Thou shalt rule them wyth a rodde of yron, and breake them in peces lyke an earthen vessell. ¹⁰ Be wyse nowe therfore, O ye Kinges, be warned, ye that are iudges of the earthe. ¹¹ Serue the Lorde wyth feare, and reioyse before hym wyth reuerence. ¹² Kysse the sonne, lest the Lorde be angrye and so ye peryshe from the ryght way. For his wrath shalbe kindled shortly: blessed are all they that put their trust in hym.

⁹ Therfore dyd my hert reioyce, & my tunge was glad, my flesh also shal rest in hope. ¹⁰ For why? thou shalt not leaue my soule in hell, neither shalt thou suffre thy saincte to se corrupcion. ¹¹ Thou hast shewed me the wayes of lyfe: thou shalte make me full of ioye wyth thy countenaunce. At thy ryght hande there is pleasure and ioye for euermore.

My God, my God: why haste thou forsaken me? the wordes of my complaynte are farre fro my health. ² O my God, I crye in the daye tyme, but thou hearest not: and in the night season also I take no rest. ³ Yet dwellest thou in the sanctuarye, O thou worshyppe of Israel. ⁴ Oure fathers hoped in the, they trusted in the, and thou dyddest deliuer them. ⁵ They called vpon the, & were helped: they put their trust in the, & were not confounded. ⁶ But as for me, I am a worme & no man: a very scorne of men and the outcaste of the people. ⁷ Al they that se me, laugh me to scorne: thei shute out their lippes, & shake their heades. ⁸ He trusted in God, let hym delyuer hym: let him helpe hym, if he will haue hym. ⁹ But thou art he that toke me out of my mothers wombe: thou waste my hope, when I hanged yet vpon my mothers brestes. ¹⁰ I haue bene left vnto the euer sence I was borne, thou art my God, euen fro my mothers wombe. ¹¹ O go not fro me then, for trouble is harde at hande, and here is none to helpe me. ¹² Great bulles are come about me, fatte oxen close me in on euery syde. ¹³ They gape vpon me with their mouthes, as it were a rampynge and roarynge Lyon. ¹⁴ I am poured out lyke water, all my boones are out of ioynt: my herte in the middest of my body is euen lyke meltyng waxe. ¹⁵ My strength is dryed vp lyke a potsherde, my tunge cleueth to my goomes, & thou haste brought me into the dust of death. ¹⁶ For dogges are come about me, the counsail of the wicked hath layed seage against me. They pearsed my handes and my fete, ¹⁷ I might haue tolde all my bones: as for them, they stode staryng and lokyng vpon me. ¹⁸ They haue parted my garmentes among them, and cast lottes vpon my vesture. ¹⁹ But be not thou farre fro me, O Lorde: thou art my succoure, haste the to helpe me. ²⁰ Delyuer my soule from the swearde, my dearlyng from the power of the dogge. ²¹ Saue me from the Lyons mouth, & heare me from amonge the hornes of the Vnicornes. ²² So wyll I declare thy name vnto my brethren, in the middest of the congregacion wyl I prayse the. ²³ O praise the Lord ye that feare him: Magnify hym all ye sede of Iacob, and let al the sede of Israel feare hym. ²⁴ For he hath not despised nor abhorred the miserable estate of the poore: he hath not hid hys face fro me, but when I called vnto him he herde me. ²⁵ I wyll prayse the in the great congregacion, and perfourme my vowes in the sighte of all them that feare the. ²⁶ The poore shall eate & be satisfied: they that seke after the Lord shal prayse hym: our hert shall lyue for euer. ²⁷ All the endes of the worlde shall remembre them selfes, and be turned vnto the Lorde: & all the generacions of the Heithen shal worshippe before hym. ²⁸ For the kyngdom is the Lordes, & he shal be the gouernour of the Heythen. ²⁹ All such as be fat vpon earth, shall eate also and worshippe. All they that lye in the dust, and lyue so hardly, shall fall doune before hym. ³⁰ The sede shall serue hym, and preache of the Lord for euer. ³¹ They shall come, and declare hys ryghteousnes: vnto a people that shallbe borne, whome the Lorde hath made.

⁶ Sacryfyce and offerynge thou wouldeste not haue but a bodye haste thou ordeyned me: burnt offerynges and sacrifyce for synne thou hast not alowed. ⁷ Then sayde I: Lo, I come. In the begynnynge of the boke is it written of me, ⁸ that I shoulde fulfyl thy wyl O my God, and that am I content to do: yea thy lawe is wythin my hert.

¹ To the chaunter vpon Sosanim of Dauid. Helpe me, O god, for the waters are come in, euen vnto my soule. ² I stycke fast in the depe myre where no ground is: I am come into depe waters, and the floudes wyll drowne me. ³ I am weery of crying, my throte is drye, my sight fayleth me, for waytinge so longe, vpon my God. ⁴ They that hate me without a cause, are mo then the heeres of my head: they that are myne enemyes & wolde destroye me giltlesse are mighty: I am fayne to paye the thinges that I neuer toke. ⁵ God thou knowest my simplenesse, and my faultes are not hyd from the. ⁶ Let not them that trust in the, O Lord God of hoostes, be ashamed for my cause: let not those that seke the, be confounded thorowe me, O God of Israel. ⁷ And why? for thy sake do I suffre reprofe, shame couereth my face. ⁸ I am become a straunger vnto my brethren, and an aleaunt vnto my mothers chyldren. ⁹ For the zele of thyne house hath euen eaten me, and the rebukes of them that rebuked the, is fallen vpon me. ¹⁰ I wepte and chastened my selfe with fastyng, and that was turned to my reprofe. ¹¹ I put on a sacke cloth, and therefore they iested vpon me. ¹² They that sate in the gate, spake agaynste me, & the dronkardes made songes vpon me. ¹³ But Lorde I made my prayer vnto the in an acceptable tyme. Heare me, O God, with thy great mercy and sure helpe. ¹⁴ Take me out of the myre, that I sinke not Oh let me be deliuered from them that hate me, and out of the depe waters. ¹⁵ Lest the water floud drowne me, that the depe swalowe me not vp, and that the pytte shut not her mouth vpon me. ¹⁶ Heare me, O Lord, for thy louyng kyndnesse is comfortable: turne the vnto me according vnto thy great mercy. ¹⁷ Hyde not thy face from thy seruaunt, for I am in trouble: O haste the to helpe me. ¹⁸ Drawe nye vnto my soule, & saue it: Oh deliuer me because of myne enemyes. ¹⁹ Thou knowest my reprofe, my shame & my dishonoure: myne aduersaries are all in thy sight. ²⁰ The rebuke breaketh my herte, and maketh me heuy: I loke for some to haue pytye vpon me, but ther is no man: and for some to comforte me, but I fynde none. ²¹ They gaue me gall to eate, & when I was thurstye, they gaue me vinegar to dryncke. ²² Let their table be made a snare to take them selues with all, an occasyon to fall and a reward vnto them. ²³ Let their eyes be blinded, that they se not: and euer bow downe their backes. ²⁴ Power out thyne indignacyon vpon them, and let thy wrathfull dyspleasure take holde of them. ²⁵ Let theyr habytacyon be voyd, and no man to dwel in ther tentes. ²⁶ For they persecute hym whom thou hast smytten, and besyde thy woundes they haue geuen him mo. ²⁷ Let them fall from one wyckednesse to another, and not come into thy ryghtuousnesse. ²⁸ Let them be wyped out of the boke of the lyuynge, and not be wrytten amonge the ryghtuous. ²⁹ As for me, I am poore and in heuines, let thy helpe defend me O God. ³⁰ That I may praise the name of God, with a songe and magnyfye it wyth thanckesgeuynge. ³¹ Thys shall please the Lord better then a bullocke, that hath hornes and hoofes. ³² O consyder this and be glad (ye that be in aduersytye) seke after God, and youre soule shall lyue. ³³ For the Lorde heareth the poore, and despyseth not hys priesoners. ³⁴ Let heauen and earth praise him, the sea & all that moueth ther in. ³⁵ For God wyll saue Syon, and buyld the cityes of Iuda, that men may dwel ther, and haue them in possession. ³⁶ The sede of his seruauntes shall inherette it, and they that loue hys name shall dwell therein.

¹ Of Salomon. Geue the king thy iudgement, O God, and thy righteousnesse vnto the kynges sonne. ² That he maye gouerne thy people accordynge vnto ryght and defende thy poore. ³ That the mountaynes maye brynge peace, and the litle hylles righteousnesse vnto the people. ⁴ He shall kepe the symple folke by theyr ryght, defende the chyldren of the poore, and punish the wronge doer. ⁵ Thou shalt be feared as longe as the sunne and moone endureth, from one generacyon to another. ⁶ He shall come doune lyke the rayne into a fleise of wolle, & like the droppes that water the earth. ⁷ In hys tyme shall righteousnesse florysh, yea, and aboundaunce of peace, so longe as the moone endureth. ⁸ Hys dominion shalbe from the one sea to the other, & from the floud vnto the worldes ende. ⁹ They that dwell in the wyldernes shall knele before him, & his enemyes shal licke the dust. ¹⁰ The kynges of the sea & of the Iles shall bringe presentes, the kynges of Araby and Saba shall offre gyftes. ¹¹ All kynges shall worshyppe hym, and all Heathen shall do hym seruyce. ¹² For he shall delyuer the poore when he cryeth, and the neady that hath no helpe. ¹³ He shalbe fauorable to the simple & poore, he shall preserue the soules of suche as be in aduersitie. ¹⁴ He shall delyuer their soules from extorcyon and wrong, and deere shall their bloud be in hys sight. ¹⁵ He shall lyue, and vnto hym shalbe geuen of the golde of Arabia: Prayer shalbe made euer vnto hym, and daylye shall he be praysed. ¹⁶ There shalbe an heape of corne in the earth hye vpon the hilles, his frute shal shake like Libanus, and shalbe grene in the cytye, lyke grasse vpon the earth. ¹⁷ Hys name shal endure for euer, his name shall remayne vnder the sunne amonge the posterites, which shalbe blessed thorow him and all the Heathen shall prayse hym. ¹⁸ Blessed be the Lorde God, euen the God of Israell, whiche onely doeth wonderous thinges. ¹⁹ And blessed be the name of his maiesty for euer, and al landes be fulfilled with his glory. ¹ A Psalme and songe, of the sonnes of Corah, to the chaunter vpon Mahelath, for affliccyon, an instruccyon of Heman the Ezrathyte. O Lord God my sauiour, I cry day and nyghte before the: ² Oh let my praier enter into thy presence, incline thyne eare vnto my callynge. ³ For my soule is full of trouble, and my lyfe draweth nye vnto hell. ⁴ I am counted as one of them that go downe vnto the pitte, I am euen as a man that hath no strength. ⁵ Fre among the dead, like vnto them that lye in the graue, whyche be out of remembraunce, and are cutte away from thy hand. ⁶ Thou hast layed me, in the lowest pytte, in the darcknesse and in the depe. ⁷ Thyne indignacion lieth harde vpon me, and thou vexest me wyth all thy floudes Selah. ⁸ Thou hast put awaye myn acquaintance farre fro me, and made me to be abhorred of them: I am so faste in pryson, that I can not get forth. ⁹ My syght fayleth for very trouble: Lord I call dayly vpon the, and stretch oute myne handes vnto the. ¹⁰ Doest thou shewe wonders amonge the deade? Can the Phisicions raise them vp againe that they maye prayse the? ¹¹ Maye thy louynge kyndnes be shewed in the graue or thy faythfulnesse in destruccyon: ¹² May thy wonderous workes be knowne in the darcke, or thy ryghtuousnes in the land wher al thinges are forgotten? ¹³ Vnto the I crye, O Lorde, and early commeth my prayer before the. ¹⁴ Lorde, why putteste thou awaye my soule? Wherfore hydest thou thy face fro me? ¹⁵ My strength is gone for very sorow & myserye, wyh fearfulnesse do I beare thy burthens. ¹⁶ Thy wrathfull dyspleasure goeth ouer me the feare of the, oppresseth me. ¹⁷ They come rounde about me dayly lyke water, and compasse me together on euerye side. ¹⁸ My louers, and frendes hast thou put awaye fro me, and turned awaye myne acquayntaunce.

⁴ For the loue that I had vnto them, they take now my contrary parte, but I geue my selfe vnto prayer. ⁵ Thus they reward me euel for good, and hatred for my god wyll. ⁶ Set an vngodly man to be ruler ouer him and let Satan stande at his ryghte hande. ⁷ When sentence is geuen vpon him, let him be condempned, and let his prayer be turned into synne. ⁸ Let his daies be few, and his bishopricke let another take. ⁹ Let hys chyldren be fatherlesse, and hys wyfe a wydowe. ¹⁰ Let his children be vagabaundes, and bege their breade: lette them seke it, as they that be destroyed. ¹¹ Let the extorcioner consume al that he hath and let straungers spoyle his laboure. ¹² Let ther be no man to pytye, ner to haue compassyon vpon his fatherles chyldren. ¹³ Let hys ende be destruccyon, & in the next generacion let his name be cleane put oute. ¹⁴ Let the wickednesse of his fathers be had in remembraunce in the syght of the Lorde & and let not the synne of hys mother be done awaye. ¹⁵ Let them alway be before the Lorde, but as for the memoryall of them selues, let it perysh from out of the earth. ¹⁶ And that because hys mynde was not to do good. but persecuted the poore helplesse, and hym that was vexed at the harte, to slay hym. ¹⁷ Hys delyte was in cursynge, and therfore shall it happen vnto hym: he loued not blessynge and that shall be far from hym. ¹⁸ He clothed hym selfe wyth cursynge lyke as wyth a rayment: yea it wente into hys bowels lyke water, and lyke oile into his bone ¹⁹ Let it be vnto hym as the cloke that he hath vpon hym, and as the gyrdle that he is gyrded with al. ²⁰ Let it thus happen from the Lorde vnto myne enemyes, and to those that speake euel agaynst my soule.

¹ A Psalme of Dauyd. The Lorde sayde vnto my Lord: Syt thou on my ryght hande, vntyll I make thyne enemies thy fotestole. ² The Lord shal sende the rod of thy power out of Sion; be thou ruler euen in the myddest amonge thyne enemyes. ³ In the daye of thy power shal thy people offer the frewyll offerynges wyth an holye worshyppe, the dewe of thy byrthe is of the wombe of the mornynge. ⁴ The Lorde sware, and wyll not repente: Thou arte a priest for euer after the order of Melchisedec. ⁵ The Lorde vpon thy ryghte hande, shall smyte euen kinges in the daye of hys wrath. ⁶ He shall be iudge amonge the Heathen, he shall fyl them wyth deade bodyes, and smite in sunder the heades ouer diuerse countres. ⁷ He shall dryncke of the broke in the waye, therfore shall he lyft vp his head.

²² The same stone whych the builders refused, is become the heade stone in the corner

¹⁴ And therfore the Lorde shall geue you a token of hym selfe: Beholde, a vyrgyn shall conceyue and beare a sonne, and shall call hys name Emmanuel.

⁶ For vnto vs a chylde shalbe borne, and vnto vs a sonne shalbe geuen. Vpon his shoulder shall the kyngedome lye, and he shalbe called with hys owne name. The wonderous geuer of councel, the myghty God, the euerlastinge father, the prynce of peace,

¹ After this there shall come a road forth of the kynrede of Iesse, & a blossome oute of his rote. ² The spyryt of the Lorde shall lyghte vpon it, the spyryte of wisedome and vnderstandynge: the spirit of councell, & strength: the spirite of knowledge, and of the feare of God: ³ and shall make him feruent in the feare of God. For he shall not geue sentence, after the thinge that shall be brought before his eyes, neyther reproue a matter at the fyrst hearing ⁴ but wyth ryghteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with holynes shal he refourme the symple of the worlde. He shall smyte the worlde wyth the staffe of hys mouthe, & with the breathe of his mouth shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ Ryghteousnesse shalbe the gyrdle of his loynes, truthe & faythfulnesse, the gyrdynge vp of hys raynes. ⁶ Then shall the wolfe dwell wyth the lambe, and the leoparde shall lye doune by the gote. Bullockes, lions and catel shal kepe company together, so that a lytle childe shall dryue them forthe. ⁷ The cowe and the Beare shall fede together, & their younge ones shall lye together. The Lyon shall eate strawe like the oxe, or the cowe. ⁸ The chylde whyle he sucketh, shal haue a desyre to the serpentes nest, and when he is weaned, he shall put his hand into the Cochatryce denne. ⁹ No man shall do euyl to another, no man shall destroye another, in all the hyll of my Sanctuarye. For the earth shalbe full of the knowledge of the Lorde, euen as thoughe the water of the sea floweth ouer the earth. ¹⁰ Then shal the Gentyles enquere after the rote of Iesse (whiche shalbe set vp for a token vnto the Gentyles) for hys dwellinge shalbe glorious.

¹⁶ Therfore sayth the Lorde God: Beholde, I wyll laye a stone in Syon a great stone, a costly corner stone for a sure foundacyon: that who so putteth hys truste in hym, shall not be confounded.

¹ Be of good chere my people, be of good chere (sayeth youre God) ² conforte Ierusalem, and tell her: that her trauayle is at an ende that her offence is pardoned, that she hath receyued of the Lordes hande sufficient correccyon for all her synnes. ³ A voyce cryeth: Prepare the waye for the Lorde in the wyldernesse, make streyght the path for oure God in the deserte. ⁴ Let all valleyes be exalted, & euery mountayne & hyll be leyed lowe. What so is croked, let it be made streyght, & lett the rough places be made playne feldes. ⁵ For the glory of the Lorde shall apeare, & all flesh shall se it, for why, the mouth of the Lorde hath spoken it. ⁶ The same voyce spake: Now crye. And I sayde: what shall I crye? Then spake yt: that all flesh is grasse, and that all the bewtye therof, is as the floure of the felde. ⁷ When the grasse is withered, the floure falleth awaye. Euen so is the people as grasse, when the breath of the Lorde bloweth vpon them. ⁸ Neuerthelesse whether the grasse wyther, or the floure fade awaye: Yet the worde of oure God endureth for euer. Moreouer the voyce cried thus: ⁹ Go vp vnto the hyll (O Sion) thou tha bryngest good tydynges, lyft vp thy voyce with power, O thou preacher Ierusalem. Lyft it vp without feare, & saye vnto the cities of Iuda: Beholde youre God, ¹⁰ beholde the Lorde, euen the Allmyghtie shall come with power, and beare rule with hys arme. Beholde, he bryngeth his treasure with hym, & hys worckes go before hym. ¹¹ He shall fede his flock lyke an herdman. He shall gather the lambes together with his arme, and carie them in hys bosome, and shall kyndlye intreate those that beare yonge.

¹ Beholde now therfore, thys is my seruaunte whom I wyll kepe to my selfe: myne electe, In whom my soule shalbe pacified. I wyll geue hym my sprete, that he may shewe forth iudgement & equyte amonge the Gentyles. ² He shall not be an outcryer, ner an hye mynded person. Hys voyce shall not be hearde in the stretes. ³ A brossed rede shall he not breake, and the smokyng flax shall he not quench, but faythfully and truly shall he geue iudgement. ⁴ He shall nether be ouersene ner hastye, that he maye restore ryghtuousnes vnto the earth: and the gentyles also shall kepe his lawes.

¹ Ye Iles, herken vnto me, & take hede ye people from farre. The Lorde hath called me from my byrth, and made mencion of my name from my mothers womb: ² he hath made my mouth like a sharp swerd vnder the shadowe of hys hande hath he defended me, & hyd me in hys quyuer, as a good arowe, ³ and sayde vnto me: Thou arte my seruaunt Israel, I wylbe honoured in the. ⁴ Then aunswered I: I shall lese my laboure, I shall spende my strength in vayne. Neuertheles, I wyll commytte my cause and my worcke vnto the Lorde my God. ⁵ And now sayth the Lord euen he that fashioned me from my mothers wombe to be his seruaunte, that I may bring Iacob agayne vnto him: howbe it, Israel wil not be gathered vnto hym agayne. In whose syght I am greate; whiche also is my Lorde my God and my strength. ⁶ Let it be but a smal thynge, that thou arte my seruaunte, to set vp the kynredes of Iacob, & to restore the destruccyon of Israel: yf I make the not also the light of the Gentiles. that thou mayest be my helthe vnto the ende of the worlde. ⁷ Moreouer thus sayth the Lorde the auenger and holye one of Israel, because of the abhorrynge and despysynge amonge the Gentyles, concernynge the seruaunte of all them that beare rule: Kynges and prynces shall se, and aryse and worshyppe, because of the Lord that he is faythfull: and because of the holye one of Israell, which hath chosen the. ⁸ And thus sayth the Lorde: In the tyme apointed wyll I be present with the. And in the houre of healthe wyll I helpe the, and delyuer the. I wyll make the a pledge for the people, so that thou shalte helpe vp the earthe agayne, and chalenge agayne the scatred herytages:

² For why wolde no man receyue me, when I came and when I called, no man gaue me aunswere. Was my hande clene smyten of, that it might not helpe? or had I not power to delyuer? lo, at a worde I drincke vp the sea, and of water floudes I make drye lande: so that for want of water, the fysh corruppe and dye of thurst. ³ As for heauen, I clothe it wyth darcknesse, & put a sack vpon it. ⁴ The Lorde God hath geuen me a wel learned tunge, so that I can comforte them whiche are troubled, yea & that in due ceason. He waked myne eare vp by tymes in the mornynge (as the scolemasters do) that I myght herken. ⁵ The Lord God hath opened myne eare, therfore can I not saye naye, nor withdrawe my selfe, ⁶ but I offre my backe vnto the smyters, & my chekes to the uyppers. I turne not my face from shame & spyttynge,

¹³ Beholde, my seruaunt shall deale wysely, therfore shall he be magnyfyed, exalted and greatly honoured.

¹ The spirite of the Lorde God is with me, for the Lorde hath annointed me, & sent me, to preache good tydinges vnto the poore, that I myght binde vp the wounded hertes, that I myght preach delyueraunce to the captyue, and open the preson to them that are bounde: ² that I myght declare the acceptable yeare of the Lorde, and the daye of the vengeaunce of oure God: that I myghte comforte al them that are in heauynesse, ³ that I might geue vnto them that mourne in Sion bewtye in the steade of ashes, ioyful oyntment for syghing, pleasaunt rayment for an heauy mynde: That they might be called excellente in ryghteousnesse, a plantinge of the Lord for hym to reioyce in.

⁵ Beholde, the tyme commeth, sayeth the Lorde, that I will rayse vp the ryghtuous braunche of Dauid, which shall beare rule, and discusse matters wyth wysdome, & shall sett vp equyte & rightuousnes agayne in the earth.

¹⁴ Beholde, the tyme commeth, sayth the Lorde that I wil perfourme that good thing, which I haue promysed vnto the house of Israell & to the house of Iuda.

²² Thus sayeth the Lord God: I wyll also take a braunche from an hye Cedre tree, & will set it, and take the vttermost twygge, that yet is but tendre, and plante it vpon an hye hill:

²³ I wyll rayse vp vnto them one onelye shepeherde: euen my seruaunt Dauid, he shall fede them, and he shall be theyr shepherde.

⁴⁴ In the dayes of these kinges shall the God of heauen set vp an euerlastynge kyngdome whiche shall not peryshe, and hys kyngdome shall not be geuen ouer to another people: yea the same shal breake and destroy al these kingdomes, but it shall endure foreuer.

¹³ I sawe in a vision by nyght, and beholde, there came one in the cloudes of heauen lyke the sonne of a man, whyche went vnto the olde aged, before whome they broughte hym.

²⁴ .Lxx. weakes are determed ouer thy people, and ouer the holy citie: that the wickednesse maye be consumed, that the sinne maye haue an ende, that the offence may be reconcyled, and to bringe in euerlastinge righteousnesse, to fulfill the visions and the Prophetes, and to annoynte the most holy one. ²⁵ Vnderstande this then, and marcke it well, that from the tyme it shalbe concluded, to go and repayre Ierusalem againe, vnto Christ (or the annointed) prince: there shalbe seuen weakes. Then shal the stretes and walles be buylded again .lxij. weakes, but wyth harde troublous time. ²⁶ After these .lxii. weakes shall Christ be slaine and they shall haue no pleasure in hym. Then shall there come a people with the Prince, and destroye the cytie and the Sanctuarye: & his ende shall come as the water floude. But the desolacion shall continue till the ende of the battell. ²⁷ He shall make a stronge bonde with many, for the space of a weke: and when the weke is halfe gone, he shall put doune the slayne and meateofferinge. And in the temple there shalbe an abhominable desolacion, till it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, that thys wasting shall continue vnto the ende.

⁷ Neuerthelesse I wyll haue mercy vpon the house of Iuda, and will saue them, euen thorow the Lord their God. But I wyll not delyuer them thorowe anye bowe, swearde, battel, horses, or horsemen. ⁸ Now when she had weaned Loruhamah, she conceyued agayne, and bare a sonne. ⁹ Then sayd he: cal his name Lo amy. For why? ye are not my people, therfore wyll I not be youres. ¹⁰ And thoughe the nombre of the chyldren of Israel be as the sand of the sea, which can neyther be measured nor tolde: yet in the place where it is sayde vnto them, ye be not my people, euen there shal it be thus reported of them: they be the chyldren of the lyuynge God. ¹¹ Then shal the chyldren of Iuda & the children of Israel be gathered together again, & chose them selues one heade, and then depart oute of the lande: for great shalbe the daye of Israel.

⁵ But afterwarde shall the children of Israell conuerte, and seke the Lorde their God: and Dauid their kinge: & in the latter dayes, they shall worshyppe the Lorde, and hys louynge kindnesse.

²⁸ After this, wil I poure out my sprete vpon all fleshe: and your sonnes & your doughters shall prophecye: youre olde men shall dreame dreames, & youre yong men shal se visyons ²⁹ yea in those dayes I wyll poure out my sprite vpon seruauntes and maydens. ³⁰ I wyll shewe wonders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneth: bloude and fyre, and the vapour of smoke. ³¹ The sunne shalbe turned into darcknes, & the mone into bloude: before the greate & notable daye of the Lorde come. ³² And the time shal come, that whosoeuer calleth on the name of the Lorde, shalbe saued. For vpon the mount Syon & at Ierusalem, there shalbe a saluacion, lyke as the Lorde hath promysed, yea & among the other remnaunte, whome the Lorde shall call.

¹¹ At that tyme wyll I buylde agayne the tabernacle of Dauid, that is fallen downe and hedge vp hys gappes: and loke what is broken, I shall repayre it: Yee I shall buylde it agayne, as it was a fore tyme,

¹ After that shalt thou be robbed thy selfe, O thou robbers daughter: they shall laye sege agaynst vs, & smyte the iudge of Israell wyth a rodde vpon the cheke. ² And thou Bethleem Ephrata, art lytle among the thousandes of Iuda, Out of the shall come vnto me, whyche shall be the gouernoure in Israell: whose out goinge hath bene from the begynnyge, and from euerlastynge. ³ In the meane whyle he plageth them for a season, vntyll the tyme that she (whyche shall beare) haue borne: then shall the remnaunt of hys brethren be conuerted vnto the chyldren of Israell. ⁴ He shall stande fast, and geue fode in the strength of the Lorde, and in the vyctorye of the name of the Lorde hys God: and when they be conuerted, he shal be magnifyed vnto the farthest partes of the worlde.

⁷ yea, I will moue al heathen, & the comforte of all Heathen shall come, and so wyll I fyl thys house wyth honoure, sayeth the Lorde of hostes. ⁸ The syluer is myne, and the gold is myne, sayth the lord of hostes. ⁹ Thus the glorye of the last house shalbe greater then the fyrste, sayeth the Lorde of hostes: and in this place will I geue peace, sayeth the Lorde of hostes.

¹² and speake vnto hym: Thus sayth the Lorde of hostes: Behold the man whose name is the braunche: and he that shall sprynge vp after hym, shall buylde vp the temple of the Lorde,

⁹ Reioyce thou greatly, O doughter Syon, be glad, O doughter Ierusalem. For lo, thy king commeth vnto the, euen the ryghteous & Sauioure: Lowly and simple is he, he rydeth vpon an asse, & vpon the foale of an asse.

⁸ Thre sheperdes destroyeth I in one moneth, for I might not away wt them, neither had they any delyte in me. ⁹ Then sayd I: I wil fede you no more, the thing that dieth, let it dye: & that wil perishe, let it perishe, & let the remnaunt eate, euery one the fleshe of his neyghboure. ¹⁰ I toke also my louing meke staf, & brake it, that I might disanul the couenaunt, which I made with al people. ¹¹ And so it was broken in that daye. Then the poore simple shepe that had a respecte vnto me, knewe therby, that it was the word of the lord. ¹² And I sayde vnto them: yf ye thincke it good, bring hither my pryce: yf no, then leaue. So they wayed doune .xxx. syluer pens, the value that I was prysed at. ¹³ And the Lorde sayd vnto me: cast it vnto the potter (a goodly pryce for me to be valued at of them) & I toke the .xxx. siluer pens, & cast them to the potter in the house of the Lorde.

¹⁰ Moreouer, vpon the house of Dauid & vpon the cytesins of Ierusalem wil I poure oute the spirite of grace & prayer, so that they shal loke vpon me, whom they haue pearsed: & they shal bewepe him, as men mourne for their onely begotten sonne: yea & be sory for him, as men are sorye for their fyrst childe.

⁷ Arise, O thou swerd, vpon my shepeherd, & vpon the prince of my people sayeth the lorde of hostes. Smite the sheperd, & the shepe shal be scatred abroade, & so wil I turne mine hand to the litle ones.

⁴ Then shall his fete stand vpon the mount olyuete, that lyeth vpon the east syde of Ierusalem. And the mount olyuete shal cleue in two, eastward & westward, so that there shalbe a great valley: & the half mount shal remoue toward the north, & the other toward the south.

¹ Beholde, I wil sende my messaunger, which shall prepare the way before me: & the Lord whome, ye woulde haue, shall sone come to hys temple, yea, euen the messenger of the couenaunt, whome ye longe for. Beholde he commeth, sayeth the Lord of hostes ² But who may abyde the day of hys commyng? Who shalbe able to endure, when he appeareth? For he is lyke a goldsmythes fire and lyke a wasshers sope. ³ He shall syt hym doune to trye and to clense the syluer, he shall pourge the children of Leui, & puryfye them lyke as golde and syluer: that they may bring meatofferinges vnto the Lorde in righteousnes.

² But vnto you that feare my name, shall the Sonne of ryghteousnesse aryse, and healthe shalbe vnder his winges: ye shal go forth, & multipply as the fat calues. ³ Ye shall treade doune the vngodlye: for they shalbe lyke the asshes vnder the soles of your fete, in the day that I shall make, sayeth the Lord of hostes. ⁴ Remembre the lawe of Moses my seruaunt whyche I commytted vnto hym in Oreb for al Israel, with the stratutes and ordynaunces. ⁵ Beholde, I wyl sende you Elias the Prophet: before the comming of the daye of the greate and fearfull Lorde. ⁶ He shall turne the hertes of the fathers to their chyldren, and the hertes of the children to their fathers, that I come not, & smite the earth with cursynge.

²¹ From that time forth Iesus beganne to shew vnto hys disciples, how that he must go vnto Ierusalem, and suffer many thinges of the elders, and of the hygh priestes, and of the scribes, and must be kylled: and ryse agayne the thyrde daye.

²² As they passed the tyme in Galile, Iesus sayde vnto them: the sonne of man shalbe betrayed into the handes of men, ²³ and they shall kyll hym, and the thyrde daye he shall ryse agayne. And they sorowed greatly.

¹⁸ Beholde we go vp to Ierusalem, and the sonne of man shalbe betrayed vnto the chief priestes and vnto the scribes: and they shal condemne hym to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliuer hym to the gentels, to be mocked, to be scourged, & to be crucified, and the thirde daye he shall rise agayne.

⁵⁴ But how then shoulde the scriptures be fulfylled: for so must it be.

⁵⁶ Al this was done that the scriptures of the Prophetes myght be fulfylled.

³¹ And he began to teache them: howe that the sonne of man must suffer many thinges, and should be reproued of the elders and of the priestes and scribes, and be killed, and after thre dayes ryse agayne. ³² And he spake that saying openly. And Peter toke him a syde, & beganne to chyde him.

³¹ For he taught his disciples, and sayde vnto them: the sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men, and they shall kyll hym, and after that he is kylled he shall ryse agayne the thyrde daye.

³³ Beholde, we go vp to Hierusalem and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of the hye priestes, and vnto the Scribes: and they shall condempne hym to death, and shall delyuer hym to the gentyls: ³⁴ and they shal mocke him, & schourge him and spyte vpon hym, and kyl hym. And the thyrd daye he shall ryse agayne.

²² saiynge: that the sonne of man muste suffer manye thinges, and be reproued of the elders, and of the hye pryestes and scrybes and be slayne, & the thirde daye ryse agayne.

⁴⁴ Let these sayinges sinke doune into your eares. The tyme wil come, when the sonne of man shalbe delyuered into the handes of men.

³¹ He toke vnto hym twelue, and sayed vnto them. Beholde we go vp to Hierusalem, & all shal be fulfylled that are wryten by the Prophetes of the sonne of man. ³² He shalbe deliuered vnto the gentils, and shalbe mocked, and shalbe dispytefully entreated, and shalbe spitted on, ³³ and when they haue scourged him, they wyll put hym to death, and the thyrde daye he shall ryse agayn. ³⁴ But they vnderstode none of these thynges. And this saiyng was hyd from them. And they perceyued not the thynges whiche were spoken.

²² For these be the dayes of vengeaunce, to fulfil all that are written.

³⁷ For I saye vnto you: that yet that which is written, must be perfourmed in me: euen with the wicked was he numbred. For tose thinges which are written of me, haue an ende.

⁶ he is not here, but is rysen. Remember howe he spake vnto you, when he was yet with you in Galile, ⁷ saiynge: that the sonne of man must be delyuered into the handes of synfull men, and be crucifyed, and the thirde daye ryse againe.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to haue suffred these thinges and to enter into his glorye? ²⁷ And he began at Moyses, and at all the Prophetes, & interpreted vnto them in all scryptures, which were written of hym.

⁴⁶ and sayde vnto them: Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christ to suffer: and to ryse agayne from death the thirde day,

¹⁴ And as Moyses lyfte vp the serpent in the wyldernes, euen so muste the sonne of man be lyft vp,

³⁹ Searche the sciptures, for in them ye thinke ye haue eternall lyfe: and they are they which testifye of me.

⁴⁶ For had ye beleued Moises ye would haue beleued me for, he wrote of me.

⁴ But these thynges haue I tolde you, that when that houre is come ye myghte remember them that I tolde you so. These thynges sayde I not vnto you at the begynnynge, because I was present with you. ⁵ But nowe I go my waye to hym that sent me, and none of you axeth me, whyther goest thou?

¹⁶ After a whyle ye shall not se me: & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father. ¹⁷ Then sayed some of hys disciples amonge them selues: what is this that he sayeth vnto vs: after a whyle ye shall not se me, & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me, and that I go to the father.

¹¹ And now am I no more in the world, but they are in the worlde, and I come to the. Holy father kepe in thyne owne name, them whom thou hast geuen me, that they maye be one, as we are. ¹² Whyle I was with them in the worlde, I kept them in thy name. Those that thou gauest me, haue I kept, and none of them is lost, but that loste chylde, that the scripture myght be fulfylled. ¹³ Nowe come I to the, and these wordes speake I in the worlde, that they myghte haue my ioye full in them.

²⁴ And they sayde one to another. Let vs not deuyde it, but caste lottes, who shall haue it: That the scripture myght be fulfylled which sayeth. They parted my raymentes among them, and on my cote dyd they caste lottes. And the souldiours dyd such thynges in dede. ²⁵ There stode by the crosse of Iesus his mother, and hys mothers sister. Marye the wyfe of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen. ²⁶ When Iesus sawe his mother, and the discyple standyng whome he loued, he sayed vnto his mother: woman beholde thy sonne. ²⁷ Then sayed he to the discyple: beholde thy mother. And from that houre the discyple toke her for hys owne. ²⁸ After that when Iesus perceyued that all thynges were perfourmed, that the scrypture myght be fulfylled, he sayed: I thyrst. ²⁹ There stode a vessell full of vyneger by. And they fylled a sponge with vyneger, and wounde it aboute with ysope, and put it to hys mouthe. ³⁰ Assone as Iesus had receyued of the vyneger he sayed: It is finyshed: and bowed hys head, and gaue vp the ghoste. ³¹ The Iewes then because it was the saboth euen, that the bodyes shoulde not remayne vpon the crosse on the saboth day (for that Saboth daye was an hye daye) besought Pylate that theyr legges myghte be broken, and that they myghte be taken doune. ³² Then came the souldyers, and brake the legges of the fyrst & of the other, which was crucified with Iesus. ³³ But when they came to Iesus, and sawe that he was dead already, they brake not hys legges: ³⁴ but one of the souldyers with a speare thruste hym into the syde and forth with came there out bloude and water. ³⁵ And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and hys recorde is true. And he knoweth that he sayth true, that ye myghte beleue also. ³⁶ These thynges were done, that the scripture shoulde be fulfylled: Ye shall not breake a bone of hym. ³⁷ And agayne another scripture sayeth: They shall loke on hym whome they pearled.

¹⁸ But those thinges whyche God before had shewed, by the mouth of all hys prophetes, howe that Christe shoulde suffer, he hath thus wyse fulfilled.

²² For Moyses sayd vnto the fathers: A Prophete shall the Lorde youre God raise vp vnto you, euen of youre brethren lyke vnto me: hym shall ye heare in all thynges, whatsoeuer he shall saye vnto you. ²³ For the tyme wyll come, that euerye soule, whyche shal not heare that same prophete, shal be destroyed from amonge the people. ²⁴ Also all the Prophetes from Samuel and thence forth, as manye as haue spoken, haue in lykewyse tolde of these dayes.

³⁷ This is that Moises which said vnto the children of Israell: A Prophet shall the Lorde your God rayse vp vnto you of youre brethren, lyke vnto me, him shal ye heare.

²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that were written on hym, they toke hym doune from the tree, and put hym in a sepulchre. ³⁰ But God raysed hym agayne from death, ³¹ and he was sene manye dayes of them whiche came with hym from Galile to Ierusalem, Which are hys wytnesses vnto the people.

³³ God hath fulfylled vnto vs theyr children, in that he raysed vp Iesus agayne, euen as it is wryten in the fyrste psalme: Thou arte my sonne, thys same daye begat I the.

² And Paule as his maner was, went in vnto them, and thre Saboth dayes declared oute of the scripture vnto them, ³ openynge and aledgynge that Christe muste nedes haue suffered and rysen agayne from death, and that thys Iesus was Christe, whom (sayed he) I preache to you.

³ For fyrste of al I deliuered vnto you that which I receiued how that Christe dyd for oure synnes, agreinge to the scriptures: ⁴ and that he was buried, and that he rose agayne the thyrde daye accordinge to the scriptures

⁵ And Moyses verelye was faythfull in al hys house as a minyster, to beare wytnes of those thynges, whyche shoulde be spoken afterwarde.

¹ Thys Melchysedech, kynge of Salem (whiche beynge prieste of the moost hye God met Abraham, as he returned agayne from the slaughter of the kynges, & blessed him:

⁸ Wherewith the holy ghost this signifyinge, that the waye of holy thynges, was not yet oppened, whyle as yet the fyrst tabernacle was standynge.

¹ For the lawe whyche hath but the shadowe of good thinges to come, and not the thynges in theyr owne fashyon can neuer wyth the sacrifyces whych they offer yere by yere continuallly, make the commers thereunto perfect.

¹¹ searchynge when or at what tyme of the spyryte of Christe whiche was in them, shoulde signifye, whiche spyryte testyfyed before, the passyons that shoulde come vnto Christe, and the glorye that shoulde folowe after:

¹⁰ And I fell at his feete, to worshippe him. And he sayed vnto me, se thou do it not. For I am thy felowe seruaunt, & one of thy brethren, & of them that haue the testimony of Iesus. Worshippe God. For the testimony of Iesus is the spirit of prophesye.
