¹⁵ And the Philistines had yet agayne warre with Israel. And Dauid went doune and his seruauntes with hym, and fought with the Philistines. And Dauid waxed fayntie,

¹⁰ And now behold, the Lord hath kepte me lusty (as he sayd) this fourtye and fyue yeares, euen sence the Lorde spake vnto vnto Moses, whyle the chyldren of Israell wanderyd in the wyldernesse. And now se I am thys daye foure skore and fyue yeres, ¹¹ and yet am as stronge at thys tyme, as I was when Moses sent me: loke how strong I was then, so strong I am now, to warre and to do al maner of thynges.

¹⁷ But when the Philistines heard that they had anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, they came al vp to seke Dauid. And as sone as Dauid hearde of it, he gat hym to an hold.

²² And the Philistines came yet agayne & layde them in the valeye Raphaim.

²⁵ And Dauid dyd as the Lord commaunded hym and smote the Philistines from Gabaah to Gezer.

⁴ After that there arose warre at Gazer wyth the Philistines. At whych tyme Sobocai the Husathite slue Saphai, that was of the chyldren of Raphaim, & they were subdewed.

⁹ Cast me not away in myne old age forsake me not when my strength fayleth me.

¹⁸ Forsake me not, O GOD, in myne olde age, when I am gray headed: vntyll I haue shewed thyne arme vnto chylders chyldren, and thy power to all them that are yet for to come.

²⁶ My fleash & my hert fayleth, but God is the strength of my herte, and my porcion for euer.

³ when the kepers of the house shall tremble, & when the strong men shall bowe them selfes: when the myllers stande styll, because they be so fewe, & when the sight of the wyndowes shal waxe dymme:

²⁸ Knowest thou not, or hast thou not hearde, that the euerlastynge God the Lorde whiche made all the corners of the earth, is nether weery nor faynt, & that his wysdome can not be comprehended, ²⁹ but that he geueth strength vnto the weery, and power vnto the faynte? ³⁰ Chyldren are weery and faynt, and the strongest men fall:

²³ Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde: Let not the wyse man reioyse in his wisdome, nor the stronge man in hys strength, neyther the ryche man in hys ryches: ²⁴ But who so wyl reioyse, let hym reioyse in this, that he vnderstandeth and knoweth me: for I am the Lorde, which do mercy, equite, and ryghtuousnes vpon the earth. Therefore haue I pleasure in suche thynges, sayeth the Lorde.

²⁴ For all fleshe is as grasse, and all the glorye of man is as the floure grasse. The grasse wyddereth, and the floure falleth awaye, ²⁵ but the worde of the Lorde endureth euer. And thys is the worde whiche by the gospell was preached amonge you.
