¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

²⁴ And David comforted his wife Bathsheba. And he went in to her and lay with her. And she bore a son. And he called his name Solomon. And Jehovah loved him. ²⁵ And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he called his name Jedidiah, because of Jehovah.

¹² And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father. And his kingdom was firmly established.

³¹ For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame was in all nations all around. ³² And he spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were a thousand and five.

⁹ Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. And I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

⁵ And of all my sons (for Jehovah has given me many sons), He has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

²⁸ And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor. And Solomon his son reigned in his place.
