⁷ And you shall carefully teach them to your sons, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his sons and his house after him, and they shall keep the way of Jehovah, to do justice and judgment, that Jehovah may bring upon Abraham that which He has spoken of him.

²⁶ And it will be, when your sons shall say to you, What is this service to you? ²⁷ Then you shall say, It is the sacrifice of Jehovah's passover, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our houses. And the people bowed and worshiped.

¹⁴ And it shall be when your sons asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? you shall say to him, Jehovah brought us out of Egypt by the strength of His hand, from the house of bondage. ¹⁵ And it happened when Pharaoh hardened himself against sending us, Jehovah killed all the first-born of the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man, and the first-born of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that opens the womb, that are males. But all the first-born of my sons I redeem.

⁹ Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul carefully, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. But teach them to your sons, and your sons' sons. ¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood before Jehovah your God in Horeb, when Jehovah said to me, Gather the people to Me, and I will make them hear My Words so that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and they may teach their sons.

² that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life, and so that your days may be prolonged.

⁴ And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said to the reapers, Jehovah be with you. And they answered him, Jehovah bless you.

¹² May Jehovah repay your work, and may a full reward be given you from Jehovah, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to trust.

¹¹ And all the people in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. May Jehovah make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, for these two built the house of Israel. And may you be blessed in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; lo, I have not kept back My lips, O Jehovah, You know. ¹⁰ I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not hidden Your loving-kindness and Your truth from the great congregation.

⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generations to come the praises of Jehovah, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He has done. ⁵ For He set up a testimony in Jacob, and ordered a Law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should teach them to their sons; ⁶ so that the generation to come might know; sons shall be born, and they shall arise and tell their sons,

⁴⁶ I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

⁸ And those who pass by have never said, The blessing of Jehovah be on you; we bless you in the name of Jehovah.

²² When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.

²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many; but fools die for lack of wisdom.

² The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

⁷ The lips of the righteous send forth knowledge, but the heart of the foolish is not so.

¹⁶ Then those fearing Jehovah spoke together, each man to his neighbor. And Jehovah listened and heard. And a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who feared Jehovah, and for those esteeming His name.

³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings out good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings out evil things.

⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good. And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth the evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

²⁹ Let not any filthy word go out of your mouth, but if any is good to building up in respect of need, that it may give grace to the ones hearing.

⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

⁶ Let your speech be always with grace, having been seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

¹⁵ but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope in you, with meekness and fear;
