So he asked permission of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. ⁹ And God had given Daniel kindness and compassion before the chief of the eunuchs. ¹⁰ And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has chosen your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces worse looking than the boys who are of your kind? And I do not desire that you should have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and of a table of demons.

For why is my liberty judged by another's conscience? ³⁰ For if I by grace am a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? ³¹ Therefore whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
