¹⁵ And all the people went to Gilgal, and made Saul king before Jehovah in Gilgal, and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before Jehovah. And there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

⁵ And he sent young men of the sons of Israel who offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of bulls to Jehovah.

¹⁹ But the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, No, but we will have a king over us.

⁸ And you shall go down before me to Gilgal. And, behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice peace offerings. You shall stay seven days until I come to you and make known to you what you shall do.

¹⁷ And Samuel called the people together to Jehovah to Mizpeh.

¹³ And now, behold the king whom you have chosen, whom you have desired! And behold, Jehovah has set a king over you! ¹⁴ If you will fear Jehovah, and serve Him, and listen to His voice, and not rebel against the command of Jehovah, then both you and also the king who reigns over you shall continue following Jehovah your God. ¹⁵ But if you will not listen to the voice of Jehovah, but rebel against the command of Jehovah, then the hand of Jehovah shall be against you as it was against your fathers.

¹⁷ Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call to Jehovah, and He shall send thunder and rain, so that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, that which you have done in the sight of Jehovah, in asking a king for you.

²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices to Jehovah, and offered burnt offerings to Jehovah on the next day after that day a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. ²² And they ate and drank before Jehovah on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him before Jehovah as ruler, and Zadok to be as priest. ²³ And Solomon sat on the throne of Jehovah as king in place of David his father. And he was blessed, and all Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ And all the rulers and the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David submitted themselves to Solomon the king.

¹⁰ Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities; and your judges of whom you said, Give me a king and rulers? ¹¹ I gave you a king in My anger, and took him away in My wrath.

¹⁶ But now you boast in your presumptions. All such boasting is evil.
