¹⁶ For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

²² And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

²³ Now therefore swear unto me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto you, you shall do unto me, and to the land in which you have sojourned.

³⁰ And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shall you take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have dug this well. ³¹ Therefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they swore both of them.

⁵³ The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us. And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

¹¹ Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he has not put his hand unto his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept the oath, and he shall not make it good.

²⁰ Whoever therefore shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by him who dwells therein. ²² And he that shall swear by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits thereon.
