⁶⁶ And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest,

⁵⁸ But Peter followed him afar off, unto the court of the high priest, and entered in, and sat with the officers, to see the end.

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting without in the court; and a maid came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilaean. ⁷⁰ But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. ⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and saith unto them there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth. ⁷² And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man. ⁷³ And after a little while they that stood by came and said to Peter, Of a truth thou also art one of them, for thy speech maketh thee known. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

⁵⁴ And Peter had followed him afar off, even within, into the court of the high priest, and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.

⁵⁵ And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them. ⁵⁶ And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him. ⁵⁷ But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not. ⁵⁸ And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not. ⁵⁹ And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him, for he is a Galilaean. ⁶⁰ But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. ⁶² And he went out, and wept bitterly.

¹⁵ And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Now that disciple was known unto the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest, ¹⁶ but Peter was standing at the door without. So the other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, went out and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ The maid therefore that kept the door saith unto Peter, Art thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not. ¹⁸ Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold, and they were warming themselves; and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore unto him, Art thou also one of his disciples? He then denied, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter therefore denied again; and straightway the cock crew.
