¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I was left over there beside the kings of Persia.

⁴ Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and harried them while they were building, ⁵ and hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. ⁶ And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

²⁴ Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

²⁰ Then said he: Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I go forth, lo, the prince of Greece shall come. ²¹ Howbeit I will declare unto thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth; and there is none that holdeth with me against these, except Michael your prince.

¹ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

¹ And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. ² And the LORD said unto Satan: 'The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan, yea, the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee; is not this man a brand plucked out of the fire?'

¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this world, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹⁰ and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power:

¹⁸ wherefore we would fain have come unto you, I Paul once and again, and Satan hindered us.

²² who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

⁹ But Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing judgment, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

⁷ And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels going forth to war with the dragon, and the dragon warred and his angels,
