¹ And the high priest said, Are these things so?

⁶¹ But afterward came two false witnesses, and said, This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. ⁶² And the high priest stood up, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands. ⁵⁹ And not even so did their witness agree together. ⁶⁰ And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

¹⁹ The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching. ²⁰ Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world, I ever taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always come together, and in secret spake I nothing. ²¹ Why askest thou me? Ask them that have heard me, what I spake unto them; behold, these know the things which I said.

³³ Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? ³⁴ Jesus answered, Sayest thou this of thyself, or did others tell it thee concerning me? ³⁵ Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests delivered thee unto me; what hast thou done?

¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against this holy place, and the law: ¹⁴ for we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.
