  3 H6965 ויקם rose up H3124 יונה But Jonah H1272 לברח to flee H8659 תרשׁישׁה unto Tarshish H6440 מלפני from the presence H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H3381 וירד and went down H3305 יפו to Joppa; H4672 וימצא and he found H591 אניה a ship H935 באה going H8659 תרשׁישׁ to Tarshish: H5414 ויתן so he paid H7939 שׂכרה the fare H3381 וירד thereof, and went down H935 בה לבוא into it, to go H5973 עמהם with H8659 תרשׁישׁה them unto Tarshish H6440 מלפני from the presence H3068 יהוה׃ of the LORD.

  4 H3068 ויהוה But the LORD H2904 הטיל sent out H7307 רוח wind H1419 גדולה a great H413 אל into H3220 הים the sea, H1961 ויהי and there was H5591 סער tempest H1419 גדול a mighty H3220 בים in the sea, H591 והאניה so that the ship H2803 חשׁבה was like H7665 להשׁבר׃ to be broken.

  5 H3372 וייראו were afraid, H4419 המלחים Then the mariners H2199 ויזעקו and cried H376 אישׁ every man H413 אל unto H430 אלהיו his god, H2904 ויטלו and cast forth H853 את   H3627 הכלים the wares H834 אשׁר that H591 באניה in the ship H413 אל into H3220 הים the sea, H7043 להקל to lighten H5921 מעליהם of H3124 ויונה them. But Jonah H3381 ירד was gone down H413 אל into H3411 ירכתי the sides H5600 הספינה of the ship; H7901 וישׁכב and he lay, H7290 וירדם׃ and was fast asleep.

  6 H7126 ויקרב came H413 אליו to H7227 רב   H2259 החבל   H559 ויאמר him, and said H4100 לו מה unto him, What H7290 לך נרדם meanest thou, O sleeper? H6965 קום arise, H7121 קרא call H413 אל upon H430 אלהיך thy God, H194 אולי if so be H6245 יתעשׁת will think H430 האלהים that God H3808 לנו ולא not. H6 נאבד׃ upon us, that we perish

  11 H559 ויאמרו Then said H413 אליו they unto H4100 מה him, What H6213 נעשׂה shall we do H8367 לך וישׁתק may be calm H3220 הים unto thee, that the sea H5921 מעלינו unto H3588 כי us? for H3220 הים the sea H1980 הולך wrought, H5590 וסער׃ and was tempestuous.

  25 H1931 הוא He H7725 השׁיב restored H853 את   H1366 גבול the coast H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H935 מלבוא from the entering H2574 חמת of Hamath H5704 עד unto H3220 ים the sea H6160 הערבה of the plain, H1697 כדבר according to the word H3068 יהוה of the LORD H430 אלהי God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H834 אשׁר which H1696 דבר he spoke H3027 ביד by the hand H5650 עבדו of his servant H3124 יונה Jonah, H1121 בן the son H573 אמתי of Amittai, H5030 הנביא the prophet, H834 אשׁר which H1662 מגת החפר׃

  20 H559 ויאמר said, H3068 יהוה And the LORD H2201 זעקת the cry H5467 סדם of Sodom H6017 ועמרה and Gomorrah H3588 כי Because H7227 רבה   H2403 וחטאתם their sin H3588 כי and because H3513 כבדה grievous; H3966 מאד׃ is very

  21 H3381 ארדה I will go down H4994 נא now, H7200 ואראה and see H6818 הכצעקתה according to the cry H935 הבאה of it, which is come H413 אלי unto H6213 עשׂו whether they have done H3617 כלה altogether H518 ואם me; and if H3808 לא not, H3045 אדעה׃ I will know.

  36 H5265 ויסע departed, H1980 וילך and went H7725 וישׁב and returned, H5576 סנחריב So Sennacherib H4428 מלך king H804 אשׁור of Assyria H3427 וישׁב and dwelt H5210 בנינוה׃ at Nineveh.

  6 H559 ואמרה And said, H430 אלהי O my God, H954 בשׁתי I am ashamed H3637 ונכלמתי and blush H7311 להרים to lift up H430 אלהי thee, my God: H6440 פני my face H413 אליך to H3588 כי for H5771 עונתינו our iniquities H7235 רבו are increased H4605 למעלה over H7218 ראשׁ head, H819 ואשׁמתנו and our trespass H1431 גדלה is grown up H5704 עד unto H8064 לשׁמים׃ the heavens.

  1 H7121 קרא Cry H1627 בגרון aloud, H408 אל not, H2820 תחשׂך spare H7782 כשׁופר like a trumpet, H7311 הרם lift up H6963 קולך thy voice H5046 והגד and show H5971 לעמי my people H6588 פשׁעם their transgression, H1004 ולבית and the house H3290 יעקב of Jacob H2403 חטאתם׃ their sins.

  7 H559 ויאמר said H3068 יהוה But the LORD H413 אלי unto H408 אל not, H559 תאמר me, Say H5288 נער a child: H595 אנכי I H3588 כי for H5921 על to H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H7971 אשׁלחך I shall send H1980 תלך thou shalt go H853 ואת   H3605 כל thee, and whatsoever H834 אשׁר thee, and whatsoever H6680 אצוך I command H1696 תדבר׃ thee thou shalt speak.

  7 H1696 ודברת And thou shalt speak H853 את   H1697 דברי my words H413 אליהם unto H518 אם them, whether H8085 ישׁמעו they will hear, H518 ואם or whether H2308 יחדלו they will forbear: H3588 כי for H4805 מרי most rebellious. H1992 המה׃ they

  5 H3588 כי For H3808 לא not H413 אל to H5971 עם a people H6012 עמקי of a strange H8193 שׂפה speech H3515 וכבדי and of a hard H3956 לשׁון language, H859 אתה thou H7971 שׁלוח sent H413 אל to H1004 בית the house H3478 ישׂראל׃ of Israel;

  7 H1004 ובית But the house H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H3808 לא not H14 יאבו will H8085 לשׁמע hearken H413 אליך unto H3588 כי thee; for H369 אינם not H14 אבים they will H8085 לשׁמע hearken H413 אלי unto H3588 כי me: for H3605 כל all H1004 בית the house H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H2389 חזקי impudent H4696 מצח impudent H7186 וקשׁי and hardhearted.   1 H5927 עלה is come up H6327 מפיץ He that dasheth in pieces H5921 על before H6440 פניך thy face: H5341 נצור keep H4694 מצרה the munition, H6822 צפה watch H1870 דרך the way, H2388 חזק make loins strong, H4975 מתנים make loins strong, H553 אמץ fortify H3581 כח power H3966 מאד׃ mightily.

  13 H5186 ויט And he will stretch out H3027 ידו his hand H5921 על against H6828 צפון the north, H6 ויאבד and destroy H853 את   H804 אשׁור Assyria; H7760 וישׂם and will make H853 את   H5210 נינוה Nineveh H8077 לשׁממה a desolation, H6723 ציה dry H4057 כמדבר׃ like a wilderness.

  14 H7257 ורבצו shall lie down H8432 בתוכה in the midst H5739 עדרים And flocks H3605 כל of her, all H2416 חיתו the beasts H1471 גוי of the nations: H1571 גם both H6893 קאת the cormorant H1571 גם and H7090 קפד the bittern H3730 בכפתריה in the upper lintels H3885 ילינו shall lodge H6963 קול of it; voice H7891 ישׁורר shall sing H2474 בחלון in the windows; H2721 חרב desolation H5592 בסף in the thresholds: H3588 כי for H731 ארזה the cedar work.   12 H559 ויאמר said H3068 יהוה And the LORD H413 אל unto H7854 השׂטן Satan, H2009 הנה Behold, H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H3027 לו בידך he hath in thy power; H7535 רק only H413 אליו upon H408 אל himself put not forth H7971 תשׁלח himself put not forth H3027 ידך thine hand.   12 H8659 תרשׁישׁ Tarshish H5503 סחרתך thy merchant H7230 מרב by reason of the multitude H3605 כל of all H1952 הון riches; H3701 בכסף with silver, H1270 ברזל iron, H913 בדיל tin, H5777 ועופרת and lead, H5414 נתנו they traded H5801 עזבוניך׃ in thy fairs.

  2 H6419 ויתפלל And he prayed H413 אל unto H3069 יהוה   H559 ויאמר and said, H577 אנה I pray thee, H3069 יהוה   H3808 הלוא not H2088 זה this H1697 דברי my saying, H5704 עד yet H1961 היותי when I was H5921 על in H127 אדמתי my country?   24 H1992 המה These H7200 ראו see H4639 מעשׂי the works H3068 יהוה of the LORD, H6381 ונפלאותיו and his wonders H4688 במצולה׃ in the deep.

  25 H559 ויאמר For he commandeth, H5975 ויעמד and raiseth H7307 רוח wind, H5591 סערה the stormy H7311 ותרומם which lifteth up H1530 גליו׃ the waves

  26 H5927 יעלו They mount up H8064 שׁמים to the heaven, H3381 ירדו they go down H8415 תהומות again to the depths: H5315 נפשׁם their soul H7451 ברעה because of trouble. H4127 תתמוגג׃ is melted

  27 H2287 יחוגו They reel to and fro, H5128 וינועו and stagger H7910 כשׁכור like a drunken man, H3605 וכל   H2451 חכמתם   H1104 תתבלע׃  

  28 H6817 ויצעקו Then they cry H413 אל unto H3069 יהוה   H6862 בצר in their trouble, H1992 להם   H4691 וממצוקתיהם of their distresses. H3318 יוציאם׃ and he bringeth them out

  7 H5927 מעלה to ascend H5387 נשׂאים He causeth the vapors H7097 מקצה from the ends H776 הארץ of the earth; H1300 ברקים lightnings H4306 למטר for the rain; H6213 עשׂה he maketh H3318 מוצא he bringeth H7307 רוח the wind H214 מאוצרותיו׃ out of his treasuries.

  13 H3588 כי For, H2009 הנה lo, H3335 יוצר he that formeth H2022 הרים the mountains, H1254 וברא and createth H7307 רוח the wind, H5046 ומגיד and declareth H120 לאדם unto man H4100 מה what H7808 שׂחו his thought, H6213 עשׂה that maketh H7837 שׁחר the morning H5890 עיפה darkness, H1869 ודרך and treadeth H5921 על upon H1116 במתי the high places H776 ארץ of the earth, H3068 יהוה The LORD, H430 אלהי The God H6635 צבאות of hosts, H8034 שׁמו׃ his name.

  19 H3462 ותישׁנהו And she made him sleep H5921 על upon H1290 ברכיה her knees; H7121 ותקרא and she called H376 לאישׁ for a man, H1548 ותגלח and she caused him to shave off H853 את   H7651 שׁבע the seven H4253 מחלפות locks H7218 ראשׁו of his head; H2490 ותחל and she began H6031 לענותו to afflict H5493 ויסר went H3581 כחו him, and his strength H5921 מעליו׃ from

  17 H7611 ושׁאריתו And the residue H410 לאל a god, H6213 עשׂה thereof he maketh H6459 לפסלו his graven image: H5456 יסגוד he falleth down H5456 לו   H7812 וישׁתחו unto it, and worshipeth H6419 ויתפלל and prayeth H413 אליו unto H559 ויאמר it, and saith, H5337 הצילני Deliver H3588 כי me; for H410 אלי my god.   18 H3808 לא They have not H3045 ידעו known H3808 ולא nor H995 יבינו understood: H3588 כי for H2902 טח he hath shut H7200 מראות that they cannot see; H5869 עיניהם their eyes, H7919 מהשׂכיל that they cannot understand. H3826 לבתם׃  

  19 H3808 ולא And none H7725 ישׁיב considereth H413 אל in H3820 לבו his heart, H3808 ולא neither H1847 דעת knowledge H3808 ולא nor H8394 תבונה understanding H559 לאמר to say, H2677 חציו part H8313 שׂרפתי I have burned H1119 במו of it in H784 אשׁ the fire; H637 ואף yea, H644 אפיתי also I have baked H5921 על upon H1513 גחליו the coals H3899 לחם bread H6740 אצלה thereof; I have roasted H1320 בשׂר flesh, H398 ואכל and eaten H3499 ויתרו the residue H8441 לתועבה thereof an abomination? H6213 אעשׂה and shall I make H944 לבול to the stock H6086 עץ of a tree? H5456 אסגוד׃ shall I fall down

  20 H7462 רעה He feedeth H665 אפר on ashes: H3820 לב heart H2048 הותל a deceived H5186 הטהו hath turned him aside, H3808 ולא that he cannot H5337 יציל deliver H853 את   H5315 נפשׁו his soul, H3808 ולא nor H559 יאמר say, H3808 הלוא not H8267 שׁקר a lie H3225 בימיני׃ in my right hand?

  20 H6908 הקבצו Assemble yourselves H935 ובאו and come; H5066 התנגשׁו draw near H3162 יחדו together, H6412 פליטי ye escaped H1471 הגוים of the nations: H3808 לא they have no knowledge H3045 ידעו they have no knowledge H5375 הנשׂאים that set up H853 את   H6086 עץ the wood H6459 פסלם of their graven image, H6419 ומתפללים and pray H413 אל unto H410 אל a god H3808 לא cannot H3467 יושׁיע׃ save.

  28 H346 ואיה But where H430 אלהיך thy gods H834 אשׁר that H6213 עשׂית thou hast made H6965 לך יקומו thee? let them arise, H518 אם if H3467 יושׁיעוך they can save H6256 בעת thee in the time H7451 רעתך of thy trouble: H3588 כי for H4557 מספר the number H5892 עריך of thy cities H1961 היו are H430 אלהיך thy gods, H3063 יהודה׃ O Judah.

  14 H3808 ולא And they have not H2199 זעקו cried H413 אלי unto H3820 בלבם me with their heart, H3588 כי when H3213 יילילו they howled H5921 על upon H4904 משׁכבותם their beds: H5921 על for H1715 דגן corn H8492 ותירושׁ and wine, H1481 יתגוררו they assemble themselves H5493 יסורו׃ they rebel

  6 H7126 ויקרב came H413 אליו to H7227 רב   H2259 החבל   H559 ויאמר him, and said H4100 לו מה unto him, What H7290 לך נרדם meanest thou, O sleeper?   14 H7121 ויקראו Wherefore they cried H413 אל unto H3068 יהוה the LORD, H559 ויאמרו and said, H577 אנה we beseech thee, H3068 יהוה O LORD, H408 אל let us not H4994 נא We beseech thee, H6 נאבדה perish H5315 בנפשׁ life, H376 האישׁ man's H2088 הזה for this H408 ואל not H5414 תתן and lay H5921 עלינו upon H1818 דם blood: H5355 נקיא us innocent H3588 כי for H859 אתה thou, H3068 יהוה O LORD, H834 כאשׁר as H2654 חפצת it pleased H6213 עשׂית׃ hast done

  16 H3372 וייראו feared H376 האנשׁים Then the men H3373 יראה   H1419 גדולה exceedingly, H853 את   H3068 יהוה the LORD H2076 ויזבחו and offered H2077 זבח a sacrifice H3068 ליהוה unto the LORD, H5087 וידרו and made H5088 נדרים׃ vows.

  22 H559 ויאמר And he said, H5750 בעוד was yet H3206 הילד While the child H2416 חי alive, H6684 צמתי I fasted H1058 ואבכה and wept: H3588 כי for H559 אמרתי I said, H4310 מי Who H3045 יודע can tell H2603 יחנני will be gracious H3068 יהוה GOD H2416 וחי may live? H3206 הילד׃ to me, that the child

  16 H1980 לך Go, H3664 כנוס gather together H853 את   H3605 כל all H3064 היהודים the Jews H4672 הנמצאים that are present H7800 בשׁושׁן in Shushan, H6684 וצומו and fast H5921 עלי ye for H408 ואל me, and neither H398 תאכלו eat H408 ואל nor H8354 תשׁתו drink H7969 שׁלשׁת three H3117 ימים days, H3915 לילה night H3117 ויום or day: H1571 גם also H589 אני I H5291 ונערתי and my maidens H6684 אצום will fast H3651 כן likewise; H3651 ובכן and so H935 אבוא will I go in H413 אל unto H4428 המלך the king, H834 אשׁר which H3808 לא not H1881 כדת according to the law: H834 וכאשׁר and if H6 אבדתי I perish, H6 אבדתי׃ I perish.

  34 H518 אם When H2026 הרגם he slew H1875 ודרשׁוהו them, then they sought H7725 ושׁבו him: and they returned H7836 ושׁחרו and inquired early H410 אל׃ after God.
