¹ At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath through the cornfields; and His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears, and eat.

²³ And it came to pass, that He was traveling through the corn-fields on the Sabbath-day; and His disciples began to make the journey plucking the ears. ²⁴ And the Pharisees continued to say to Him, Behold what they are doing on the Sabbath, which is not lawful. ²⁵ And He said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, and those with him? ²⁶ How he entered into the house of God, in the days of Abiathar, the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priest, and he gave it to those being with him? ²⁷ And He said to them, The Sabbath was made for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath. ²⁸ So the Son of man is also Lord of the Sabbath.
