23 And it came to pass, that He was traveling through the corn-fields on the Sabbath-day; and His disciples began to make the journey plucking the ears. 24 And the Pharisees continued to say to Him, Behold what they are doing on the Sabbath, which is not lawful. 25 And He said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, and those with him? 26 How he entered into the house of God, in the days of Abiathar, the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priest, and he gave it to those being with him? 27 And He said to them, The Sabbath was made for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of man is also Lord of the Sabbath.

Luke 6:1-5

1 And it came to pass on the second Sabbath, He was going through the cornfields; and His disciples were plucking the ears, and eating, shelling them out with their hands. 2 And certain ones of the Pharisees said to them, Why are you doing that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath? 3 Jesus responded and said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those being with him? 4 How he entered into the house of God, and how he took the shewbread, and ate it, and gave it to those with him; which is not lawful to eat, except the priests only? 5 And He said to them, The Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath also.
