² Howe shall we, that are dead to sinne, liue yet therein?

⁹ There is no man greater in this house then I: neither hath he kept any thing from me, but only thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickednes and so sinne against God?

¹⁰⁴ By thy precepts I haue gotten vnderstanding: therefore I hate all the wayes of falshoode.

¹ What is then the preferment of the Iewe? or what is the profite of circumcision? ² Much euery maner of way: for chiefly, because vnto them were of credite committed the oracles of God. ³ For what, though some did not beleeue? shall their vnbeliefe make the faith of God without effect? ⁴ God forbid: yea, let God be true, and euery man a lyar, as it is written, That thou mightest be iustified in thy words, and ouercome, when thou art iudged.

¹¹ And not onely so, but we also reioyce in God through our Lord Iesus Christ, by whom we haue nowe receiued the atonement.

⁵ For if we be planted with him to the similitude of his death, euen so shall we be to the similitude of his resurrection, ⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sinne might be destroied, that henceforth we should not serue sinne. ⁷ For he that is dead, is freed from sinne. ⁸ Wherefore, if we bee dead with Christ, we beleeue that we shall liue also with him, ⁹ Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead, dieth no more: death hath no more dominion ouer him. ¹⁰ For in that hee died, hee died once to sinne but in that he liueth, he liueth to God. ¹¹ Likewise thinke ye also, that ye are dead to sin, but are aliue to God in Iesus Christ our Lord.

⁴ So yee, my brethren, are dead also to the Law by ye body of Christ, that ye should be vnto an other, euen vnto him that is raised vp from the dead, that we should bring foorth fruite vnto God.

⁶ But now we are deliuered from the Lawe, he being dead in whom we were holden, that we should serue in newnesse of Spirite, and not in the oldnesse of the letter.

¹⁴ For that loue of Christ constraineth vs, ¹⁵ Because we thus iudge, that if one be dead for all, then were all dead, and he died for all, that they which liue, shoulde not henceforth liue vnto themselues, but vnto him which died for them, and rose againe. ¹⁶ Wherefore, henceforth know we no man after the flesh, yea though wee had knowen Christ after the flesh, yet nowe henceforth know we him no more. ¹⁷ Therefore if any man be in Christ, let him be a newe creature. Olde things are passed away: beholde, all things are become newe.

¹⁹ For I through the Lawe am dead to the Lawe, that I might liue vnto God.

¹⁴ But God forbid that I should reioyce, but in ye crosse of our Lord Iesus Christ, whereby the world is crucified vnto me, and I vnto ye world.

²⁰ Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the ordinances of the world, why, as though ye liued in ye world, are ye burdened with traditions?

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selues vnto the former lustes of your ignorance:

²⁴ Who his owne selfe bare our sinnes in his body on the tree, that we being dead to sinne, should liue in righteousnesse: by whose stripes ye were healed.

¹ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde, which is, that he which hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sinne, ² That he hence forward should liue (as much time as remaineth in the flesh) not after the lusts of men, but after the will of God. ³ For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spet the time past of ye life, after the lust of the Gentiles, walking in wantonnes, lustes, drunkennes, in gluttonie, drinkings, and in abominable idolatries.

⁹ Whosoeuer is borne of God, sinneth not: for his seede remaineth in him, neither can hee sinne, because he is borne of God.
