⁴ For whatsoeuer things are written aforetime, are writte for our learning, that we through patience, and comfort of the Scriptures might haue hope.

⁸¹ CAPH. My soule fainteth for thy saluation: yet I waite for thy worde. ⁸² Mine eyes faile for thy promise, saying, when wilt thou comfort me? ⁸³ For I am like a bottell in the smoke: yet doe I not forget thy statutes.

²³ Nowe it is not written for him onely, that it was imputed to him for righteousnesse, ²⁴ But also for vs, to whom it shalbe imputed for righteousnesse, which beleeue in him that raised vp Iesus our Lord from the dead,

³ Neither that onely, but also we reioyce in tribulations, knowing that tribulation bringeth forth patience, ⁴ And patience experience, and experience hope, ⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, because the loue of God is shed abroade in our heartes by the holy Ghost, which is giuen vnto vs.

²⁴ For we are saued by hope: but hope that is seene, is not hope: for how can a man hope for that which he seeth? ²⁵ But if we hope for that we see not, we doe with patience abide for it.

¹² Reioycing in hope, pacient in tribulation, continuing in prayer,

⁹ For it is written in the Lawe of Moses, Thou shalt not mussell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: doeth God take care for oxen? ¹⁰ Either saith hee it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubt it is written, that he which eareth, should eare in hope, and that he that thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope.

¹¹ Nowe all these things came vnto them for ensamples, and were written to admonish vs, vpon whome the endes of the world are come.

¹⁶ For the whole Scripture is giuen by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teache, to conuince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousnesse, ¹⁷ That the man of God may be absolute, being made perfect vnto all good workes.

¹⁰ For God is not vnrighteous, that hee should forget your worke, and labour of loue, which ye shewed toward his Name, in that ye haue ministred vnto the Saints, and yet minister. ¹¹ And we desire that euery one of you shew the same diligence, to the full assurance of hope vnto the ende, ¹² That ye be not slouthfull, but followers of them, which through faith and patience, inherite the promises. ¹³ For when God made the promise to Abraham, because he had no greater to sweare by, he sware by himselfe, ¹⁴ Saying, Surely I wil aboundantly blesse thee and multiplie thee marueilously. ¹⁵ And so after that he had taried patiently, he enioyed the promise. ¹⁶ For men verely sweare by him that is greater then themselues, and an othe for confirmation is among them an ende of all strife. ¹⁷ So God, willing more aboundantly to shew vnto the heires of promise the stablenes of his counsell, bound himselfe by an othe, ¹⁸ That by two immutable things, wherein it is vnpossible that God should lye, we might haue strong consolation, which haue our refuge to lay holde vpon that hope that is set before vs, ¹⁹ Which hope we haue, as an ancre of the soule, both sure and stedfast, and it entreth into that which is within the vaile,

³⁵ Cast not away therefore your confidence which hath great recompense of reward. ³⁶ For ye haue neede of patience, that after ye haue done the will of God, ye might receiue the promise.

⁷ Be patient therefore, brethren, vnto the comming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman wayteth for the precious fruite of the earth, and hath long patience for it, vntill he receiue the former, and the latter rayne. ⁸ Be ye also patient therefore and settle your hearts: for ye comming of the Lord draweth neere. ⁹ Grudge not one against another, brethren, least ye be condemned: behold, the iudge standeth before the doore. ¹⁰ Take, my brethren, the Prophets for an ensample of suffering aduersitie, and of long patience, which haue spoken in the Name of the Lord. ¹¹ Beholde, we count them blessed which endure. Ye haue heard of the patience of Iob, and haue knowen what ende the Lord made. For the Lord is very pitifull and mercifull.

¹³ Wherefore, girde vp the Ioynes of your minde: bee sober, and trust perfectly on that grace that is brought vnto you, in the reuelation of Iesus Christ,

²⁰ So that yee first knowe this, that no prophecie of the Scripture is of any priuate interpretation. ²¹ For the prophecie came not in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.
