¹² Teach vs so to nomber our dayes, that we may apply our heartes vnto wisdome.

²⁹ Oh that they were wise, then they would vnderstand this: they would consider their latter ende.

²⁸ And vnto man he said, Behold, the feare of the Lord is wisedome, and to depart from euil is vnderstanding.

⁴ Lord, let me know mine ende, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: let mee knowe howe long I haue to liue.

² And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding, ³ (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding: ⁴ If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures, ⁵ Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.

¹³ Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding. ¹⁴ For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde. ¹⁵ It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her. ¹⁶ Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory. ¹⁷ Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.

⁵ Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.

⁷ Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.

¹ My sonne, keepe my wordes, and hide my commandements with thee. ² Keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue, and mine instruction as the apple of thine eyes. ³ Binde them vpon thy fingers, and write them vpon the table of thine heart. ⁴ Say vnto wisedome, Thou art my sister: and call vnderstanding thy kinswoman,

³² Therefore nowe hearken, O children, vnto me: for blessed are they that keepe my wayes. ³³ Heare instruction, and be ye wise, and refuse it not: blessed is the man that heareth mee, watching dayly at my gates, and giuing attendance at the postes of my doores. ³⁴ For he that findeth me, findeth life, and shall obteine fauour of the Lord. ³⁵ But he that sinneth against me, hurteth his owne soule: and all that hate me, loue death. ³⁶

¹⁶ Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.

¹ For the desire thereof hee will separate himselfe to seeke it, and occupie himselfe in all wisdome. ² A foole hath no delite in vnderstanding: but that his heart may be discouered.

¹⁷ Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.

¹² Apply thine heart to instruction, and thine eares to the wordes of knowledge.

²³ Bye the trueth, but sell it not: likewise wisdome, and instruction, and vnderstanding.

¹⁰ All that thine hand shall finde to doe, doe it with all thy power: for there is neither worke nor inuention, nor knowledge, nor wisedome in the graue whither thou goest.

³⁵ Let your loynes be gird about and your lights burning, ³⁶ And ye your selues like vnto men that waite for their master, when he will returne from the wedding, that when he commeth and knocketh, they may open vnto him immediatly. ³⁷ Blessed are those seruants, whom the Lord when he commeth shall finde waking: verely I say vnto you, he will girde himselfe about, and make them to sit downe at table, and will come forth, and serue them. ³⁸ And if he come in the seconde watch, or come in the third watch, and shall finde them so, blessed are those seruants. ³⁹ Nowe vnderstand this, that if the good man of the house had knowen at what houre the theefe would haue come, he would haue watched, and would not haue suffered his house to be digged through. ⁴⁰ Be ye also prepared therefore: for the Sonne of man will come at an houre when ye thinke not.

⁴ I must worke the workes of him that sent me, while it is day: the night commeth when no man can worke.

¹⁶ Redeeming ye season: for ye daies are euill. ¹⁷ Wherefore, be ye not vnwise, but vnderstand what the will of the Lord is.
