¹⁰ Destroy them, O God: let them fall from their counsels: cast them out for the multitude of their iniquities, because they haue rebelled against thee.

³⁰ But Sihon the King of Heshbon would not let vs passe by him: for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, because hee would deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.

²⁹ Yet a man hath risen vp to persecute thee, and to seeke thy soule, but the soule of my lorde shall be bounde in the bundel of life with the Lord thy God: and the soule of thine enemies shall God cast out, as out of the middle of a sling.

³⁹ Now when Dauid heard, that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the Lord that hath iudged the cause of my rebuke of ye hand of Nabal, and hath kept his seruant from euil: for the Lord hath recompensed the wickednesse of Nabal vpon his owne head. Also Dauid sent to commune with Abigail to take her to his wife.

³¹ Then one tolde Dauid, saying, Ahithophel is one of them that haue cospired with Absalom: and Dauid sayde, O Lord, I pray thee, turne the counsell of Ahithophel into foolishnesse.

¹⁴ Then Absalom and all the men of Israel sayde, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better, then the counsell of Ahithophel: for the Lord had determined to destroy the good counsell of Ahithophel, that the Lord might bring euill vpon Absalom.

²³ Nowe when Ahithophel sawe that his counsell was not followed, he sadled his asse, and arose, and he went home vnto his citie, and put his houshold in order, and hanged him selfe, and dyed, and was buryed in his fathers graue.

¹⁶ And as he talked with him, he said vnto him, Haue they made thee the Kings counseler? cease thou: why should they smite thee? And the Prophet ceased, but said, I knowe that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not obeyed my counsell.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the tree, that he had prepared for Mordecai: then was the Kings wrath pacified.

¹² He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish. ¹⁴ They meete with darkenesse in the day time, and grope at noone day, as in the night.

⁹ Oh let the malice of the wicked come to an ende: but guide thou the iust: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reines. ¹⁰ My defence is in God, who preserueth the vpright in heart. ¹¹ God iudgeth the righteous, and him that contemneth God euery day. ¹² Except he turne, he hath whet his sword: he hath bent his bowe and made it readie. ¹³ Hee hath also prepared him deadly weapons: hee will ordeine his arrowes for them that persecute me. ¹⁴ Beholde, hee shall trauaile with wickednes: for he hath conceiued mischiefe, but he shall bring foorth a lye. ¹⁵ Hee hath made a pitte and digged it, and is fallen into the pit that he made.

¹⁵ The heathen are sunken downe in the pit that they made: in the nette that they hid, is their foote taken. ¹⁶ The Lord is knowen by executing iudgement: the wicked is snared in the worke of his owne handes. Higgaion. Selah.

¹⁵ Breake thou the arme of the wicked and malicious: searche his wickednes, and thou shalt finde none.

¹³ Vp Lord, disappoint him: cast him downe: deliuer my soule from the wicked with thy sworde,

⁸ Thine hand shall finde out all thine enemies, and thy right hand shall finde out them that hate thee. ⁹ Thou shalt make them like a fierie ouen in time of thine anger: the Lord shall destroy them in his wrath, and the fire shall deuoure them. ¹⁰ Their fruite shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seede from the children of men.

³ Drawe mee not away with the wicked, and with the woorkers of iniquitie: which speake friendly to their neighbours, when malice is in their hearts. ⁴ Reward them according to their deedes, and according to the wickednes of their inuentions: recompense them after the woorke of their handes: render them their reward.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be made dumme, which cruelly, proudly and spitefully speake against the righteous.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. Pleade thou my cause, O Lord, with them that striue with me: fight thou against them, that fight against me. ² Lay hand vpon the shielde and buckler, and stand vp for mine helpe. ³ Bring out also the speare and stop the way against them, that persecute me: say vnto my soule, I am thy saluation. ⁴ Let them be confounded and put to shame, that seeke after my soule: let them be turned backe, and brought to confusion, that imagine mine hurt. ⁵ Let them be as chaffe before the winde, and let the Angel of the Lord scatter them. ⁶ Let their way be darke and slipperie: and let the Angel of the Lord persecute them. ⁷ For without cause they haue hid the pit and their net for me: without cause haue they digged a pit for my soule. ⁸ Let destruction come vpon him at vnwares, and let his net, that he hath laid priuilie, take him: let him fall into the same destruction.

²⁶ Let them bee confounded, and put to shame together, that reioyce at mine hurt: let them bee clothed with confusion and shame, that lift vp themselues against me.

¹⁵ Let death sense vpon them: let them goe downe quicke into the graue: for wickednes is in their dwellings, euen in the middes of them.

¹² For the sinne of their mouth, and the words of their lips: and let them be taken in their pride, euen for their periurie and lies, that they speake. ¹³ Consume them in thy wrath: consume them that they be no more: and let them knowe that God ruleth in Iaakob, euen vnto the ends of the world. Selah.

⁶ They haue sought out iniquities, and haue accomplished that which they sought out, euen euery one his secret thoughtes, and the depth of his heart. ⁷ But God will shoote an arrowe at them suddenly: their strokes shalbe at once. ⁸ They shall cause their owne tongue to fall vpon them: and whosoeuer shall see them, shall flee away.

⁷ He ruleth the worlde with his power: his eyes beholde the nations: the rebellious shall not exalt them selues. Selah.

¹ To him that excelleth. A Psalme or song of David. God will arise, and his enemies shalbe scattered: they also that hate him, shall flee before him. ² As the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou driue them away: and as waxe melteth before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of God.

²² Let their table be a snare before them, and their prosperitie their ruine. ²³ Let their eyes be blinded that they see not: and make their loynes alway to tremble. ²⁴ Powre out thine anger vpon them, and let thy wrathfull displeasure take them. ²⁵ Let their habitation be voide, and let none dwell in their tents.

¹³ Let them be confounded and consumed that are against my soule: let them be couered with reproofe and confusion, that seeke mine hurt.

¹² And render to our neighbours seuen folde into their bosome their reproche, wherewith they haue reproched thee, O Lord.

⁹ Doe thou to them as vnto the Midianites: as to Sisera and as to Iabin at the riuer of Kishon. ¹⁰ They perished at En-dor, and were dung for the earth. ¹¹ Make them, euen their princes like Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmuna. ¹² Which haue said, Let vs take for our possession the habitations of God. ¹³ O my God, make them like vnto a wheele, and as the stubble before the winde. ¹⁴ As the fire burneth the forest, and as the flame setteth the mountaines on fire: ¹⁵ So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraide with thy storme. ¹⁶ Fill their faces with shame, that they may seeke thy Name, O Lord. ¹⁷ Let them be confounded and troubled for euer: yea, let them be put to shame and perish, ¹⁸ That they may knowe that thou, which art called Iehouah, art alone, euen the most High ouer all the earth.

¹¹ Because they rebelled against the wordes of the Lord, and despised the counsell of the most High,

⁶ Set thou the wicked ouer him, and let the aduersarie stand at his right hand. ⁷ Whe he shalbe iudged, let him be condemned, and let his praier be turned into sinne. ⁸ Let his daies be fewe, and let another take his charge. ⁹ Let his children be fatherlesse, and his wife a widowe. ¹⁰ Let his children be vagabonds and beg and seeke bread, comming out of their places destroyed. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch al that he hath, and let the strangers spoile his labour. ¹² Let there be none to extend mercie vnto him: neither let there be any to shewe mercie vpon his fatherlesse children. ¹³ Let his posteritie be destroied, and in the generation following let their name be put out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquitie of his fathers bee had in remembrance with the Lord: and let not the sinne of his mother be done away. ¹⁵ But let them alway be before the Lord, that he may cut off their memorial from ye earth. ¹⁶ Because he remembred not to shew mercie, but persecuted the afflicted and poore man, and the sorowfull hearted to slay him. ¹⁷ As he loued cursing, so shall it come vnto him, and as he loued not blessing, so shall it be farre from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himselfe with cursing like a rayment, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oyle into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be vnto him as a garment to couer him, and for a girdle, wherewith he shalbe alway girded. ²⁰ Let this be the rewarde of mine aduersarie from the Lord, and of them, that speake euill against my soule.

⁷ Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Ierusalem, which saide, Rase it, rase it to the foundation thereof. ⁸ O daughter of Babel, worthy to be destroyed, blessed shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast serued vs. ⁹ Blessed shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy children against the stones.

⁹ As for the chiefe of them, that compasse me about, let the mischiefe of their owne lippes come vpon them. ¹⁰ Let coles fal vpon them: let him cast them into the fire, and into the deepe pits, that they rise not.

⁶ Cast forth the lightning and scatter them: shoote out thine arrowes, and consume them. ⁷ Send thine hand from aboue: deliuer me, and take me out of the great waters, and from the hand of strangers,

² Heare, O heauens, and hearken, O earth: for the Lord hath sayde, I haue nourished and brought vp children, but they haue rebelled against me.

²⁰ But if ye refuse and be rebellious, ye shalbe deuoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

¹⁰ But they rebelled and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore was hee turned to be their enemie and he fought against them.

⁵ Her aduersaries are the chiefe, and her enemies prosper: for the Lord hath afflicted her, for the multitude of her transgressions, and her children are gone into captiuitie before the enemie.

⁵ We haue sinned, and haue committed iniquitie and haue done wickedly, yea, we haue rebelled, and haue departed from thy precepts, and from thy iudgements.

⁹ Yet compassion and forgiuenesse is in the Lord our God, albeit we haue rebelled against him.

⁷ The daies of visitation are come: the daies of recompence are come: Israel shall knowe it: the Prophet is a foole: the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquitie: therefore the hatred is great.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God. ²⁰ Therefore by the woorkes of the Lawe shall no flesh be iustified in his sight: for by the Lawe commeth the knowledge of sinne.

¹⁹ For the wisdome of this worlde is foolishnesse with God: for it is written, He catcheth the wise in their owne craftinesse.
