⁷ But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.

⁵ There shall not a man be able to withstande thee all the dayes of thy life: as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not leaue thee, nor forsake thee.

⁸ And the Lord sayd vnto Ioshua, Feare them not: for I haue giuen them into thine hand: none of them shall stand against thee. ⁹ Ioshua therefore came vnto them suddenly: for he went vp from Gilgal all the night. ¹⁰ And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth vp to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah and to Makkedah.

⁴² And all these Kings, and their land did Ioshua take at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

⁶ Then the Lord sayd vnto Ioshua, Be not afrayd for them: for to morowe about this time will I deliuer them all slaine before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burne their charets with fire.

⁹ For ye Lord hath cast out before you great nations and mightie, and no man hath stand before your face hitherto. ¹⁰ One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.

¹⁸ And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)

⁴ And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people are yet too many: bring them downe vnto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and of whome I say vnto thee, This man shall goe with thee, the same shall go with thee: and of whomsoeuer I say vnto thee, This man shall not goe with thee, the same shall not go. ⁵ So he brought downe the people vnto the water. And the Lord sayd vnto Gideon, As many as lap the water with their tongues, as a dog lappeth, them put by themselues, and euery one that shall bow downe his knees to drinke, put apart. ⁶ And the nomber of them that lapped by putting their handes to their mouthes, were three hundreth men: but all the remnant of the people kneeled downe vpon their knees to drinke water. ⁷ Then the Lord sayde vnto Gideon, By these three hundreth men that lapped, will I saue you, and deliuer the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go euery man vnto his place. ⁸ And the children of Israel sayd to Samuel, Cease not to crie vnto the Lord our God for vs, that hee may saue vs out of the hand of the Philistims. ⁹ Then Samuel tooke a sucking lambe, and offered it all together for a burnt offering vnto the Lord, and Samuel cryed vnto the Lord for Israel, and the Lord heard him. ¹⁰ And as Samuel offered the burnt offering, the Philistims came to fight against Israel: but the Lord thundred with a great thunder that day vpon the Philistims, and scattered them: so they were slaine before Israel. ¹¹ And the men of Israel went from Mizpeh and pursued the Philistims, and smote them vntill they came vnder Beth-car. ¹² Then Samuel tooke a stone and pitched it betweene Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name thereof, Eben-ezer, and he sayd, Hitherto hath the Lord holpen vs.

⁶ And Ionathan saide to the yong man that bare his armour, Come, and let vs goe ouer vnto the garison of these vncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will worke with vs: for it is not hard to the Lord to saue with many, or with fewe. ⁷ And he that bare his armour, saide vnto him, Doe all that is in thine heart: goe where it pleaseth thee: beholde, I am with thee as thine heart desireth. ⁸ Then said Ionathan, Beholde, we goe ouer vnto those men, and will shewe our selues vnto them. ⁹ If they say on this wise to vs, Tarie vntill we come to you, then we will stand still in our place, and not goe vp to them. ¹⁰ But if they say, Come vp vnto vs, then we will goe vp: for the Lord hath deliuered them into our hande: and this shall be a signe vnto vs.

⁴⁷ And that all this assembly may know, that the Lord saueth not with sworde nor with speare (for the battel is the Lords) and he will giue you into our handes.

¹⁰ (Also I will appoynt a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in a place of their owne, and moue no more, neither shall wicked people trouble them any more as before time,

¹⁴ Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seeke my soule to destroye it: let them be driuen backward and put to rebuke, that desire mine hurt.

⁵ There they were afraide for feare, where no feare was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that besieged thee: thou hast put them to confusion, because God hath cast them off.

Selah. ⁹ Doe thou to them as vnto the Midianites: as to Sisera and as to Iabin at the riuer of Kishon. ¹⁰ They perished at En-dor, and were dung for the earth. ¹¹ Make them, euen their princes like Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes like Zebah and like Zalmuna. ¹² Which haue said, Let vs take for our possession the habitations of God. ¹³ O my God, make them like vnto a wheele, and as the stubble before the winde. ¹⁴ As the fire burneth the forest, and as the flame setteth the mountaines on fire: ¹⁵ So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraide with thy storme. ¹⁶ Fill their faces with shame, that they may seeke thy Name, O Lord. ¹⁷ Let them be confounded and troubled for euer: yea, let them be put to shame and perish, ¹⁸ That they may knowe that thou, which art called Iehouah, art alone, euen the most High ouer all the earth.

¹⁸ His enemies will I clothe with shame, but on him his crowne shall florish.

²⁴ And hath rescued vs from our oppressours: for his mercie endureth for euer:

⁷ O Lord God the strength of my saluation, thou hast couered mine head in the day of battel.

¹⁰ It is he that giueth deliuerance vnto Kings, and rescueth Dauid his seruant from the hurtfull sworde.
