⁴ The sorowes of death compassed me, and the floods of wickednes made me afraide.

⁵ For the pangs of death haue compassed me: the floods of vngodlinesse haue made mee afrayd. ⁶ The sorowes of the graue compassed mee about: the snares of death ouertooke mee.

¹² Many yong bulles haue compassed me: mightie bulles of Bashan haue closed me about. ¹³ They gape vpon me with their mouthes, as a ramping and roaring lyon.

¹⁶ For dogges haue compassed me, and the assemblie of the wicked haue inclosed me: they perced mine hands and my feete.

³ When the snares of death copassed me, and the griefes of the graue caught me: when I founde trouble and sorowe.

⁴ Then the waters had drowned vs, and the streame had gone ouer our soule:

⁸ And they shalbe afraid: anguish and sorowe shall take them, and they shall haue paine, as a woman that trauaileth: euery one shall be amased at his neighbour, and their faces shalbe like flames of fire.

³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not. ⁴ Surely hee hath borne our infirmities, and caried our sorowes: yet wee did iudge him, as plagued, and smitten of God, and humbled.

² And said, I cryed in mine affliction vnto the Lord, and he heard me: out of the bellie of hell cryed I, and thou heardest my voyce. ³ For thou haddest cast me into the bottome in the middes of the sea, and the floods compassed me about: all thy surges, and all thy waues passed ouer me. ⁴ Then I saide, I am cast away out of thy sight: yet will I looke againe towarde thine holy Temple. ⁵ The waters compassed me about vnto the soule: the depth closed me rounde about, and the weedes were wrapt about mine head. ⁶ I went downe to the bottome of the moutaines: the earth with her barres was about me for euer, yet hast thou brought vp my life from the pit, O Lord my God. ⁷ When my soule fainted within me, I remembred the Lord: and my prayer came vnto thee, into thine holy Temple.

³⁸ Then sayde Iesus vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie yee here, and watch with me. ³⁹ So hee went a litle further, and fell on his face, and praied, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.

⁴⁷ And while hee yet spake, loe Iudas, one of the twelue, came, and with him a great multitude with swordes and staues, from the high Priests and Elders of the people.

⁵⁵ The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he auailed nothing, but that more tumult was made, he tooke water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this iust man: looke you to it. ²⁵ Then answered all the people, and saide, His bloud be on vs, and on our children.

³⁹ And they that passed by, reuiled him, wagging their heades, ⁴⁰ And saying, Thou that destroyest ye Temple, and buildest it in three dayes, saue thy selfe: if thou be ye Sonne of God, come downe from ye crosse. ⁴¹ Likewise also the hie Priests mocking him, with the Scribes, and Elders, and Pharises, said, ⁴² He saued others, but he cannot saue him selfe: if he be ye King of Israel, let him now come downe from ye crosse, and we will beleeue in him. ⁴³ He trusted in God, let him deliuer him nowe, if he will haue him: for he saide, I am the Sonne of God. ⁴⁴ The selfe same thing also ye theeues which were crucified with him, cast in his teeth.

³³ And hee tooke with him Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and hee began to be troubled, and in great heauinesse, ³⁴ And saide vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie here, and watch.

³⁰ Then all the citie was moued, and the people ran together: and they tooke Paul and drewe him out of the Temple, and forth with the doores were shut.

⁹ Yea, we receiued the sentence of death in our selues, because we shoulde not trust in our selues, but in God, which rayseth the dead.
