²⁶ With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the froward thou wilt shewe thy selfe froward.

²³ Yet if by these ye will not be reformed by me, but walke stubburnly against me, ²⁴ Then wil I also walke stubburnly against you, and I will smite you yet seuen times for your sinnes:

²⁷ Yet if ye will not for this obey mee, but walke against me stubburnly, ²⁸ Then will I walke stubburnly in mine anger against you, and I will also chastice you seuen times more according to your sinnes.

¹⁷ As he loued cursing, so shall it come vnto him, and as he loued not blessing, so shall it be farre from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himselfe with cursing like a rayment, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oyle into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be vnto him as a garment to couer him, and for a girdle, wherewith he shalbe alway girded.

³⁴ With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his bountifulnesse, and patience, and long sufferance, not knowing that the bountifulnesse of God leadeth thee to repentance? ⁵ But thou, after thine hardnesse, and heart that canot repent, heapest vp as a treasure vnto thy selfe wrath against the day of wrath, and of the declaration of the iust iudgement of God, ⁶ Who wil reward euery man according to his woorkes:

⁹ Tribulation and anguish shalbe vpon the soule of euery man that doeth euill: of the Iewe first, and also of the Grecian.

¹³ For there shalbe condemnation merciles to him that sheweth not mercie, and mercie reioyceth against condemnation.
