¹⁷ But refused to obey, and would not remember thy marueilous works that thou haddest done for them, but hardened their neckes, and had in their heads to returne to their bondage by their rebellion: but thou, O God of mercies, gratious and full of compassion, of long suffring and of great mercie, yet forsookest them not.

⁶ So the Lord passed before his face, and cried, The Lord, the Lord, strong, mercifull, and gracious, slowe to anger, and abundant in goodnesse and trueth, ⁷ Reseruing mercy for thousands, forgiuing iniquitie, and transgression and sinne, and not making the wicked innocent, visiting the iniquitie of the fathers vpon ye children, and vpon childrens children, vnto the third and fourth generation.

³ Wherefore nowe hath the Lord brought vs into this lande to fall vpon the sworde? our wiues, and our children shall be a pray: were it not better for vs to returne into Egypt? ⁴ And they said one to another, Let vs make a Captaine and returne into Egypt.

¹¹ And the Lord said vnto Moses, How long will this people prouoke me, and howe long will it be, yer they beleeue me, for al the signes which I haue shewed among them?

¹⁸ The Lord is slowe to anger, and of great mercie, and forgiuing iniquitie, and sinne, but not making the wicked innocent, and visiting the wickednes of the fathers vpon the children, in the thirde and fourth generation: ¹⁹ Be mercifull, I beseech thee, vnto the iniquitie of this people, according to thy great mercie, and as thou hast forgiuen this people from Egypt, euen vntill nowe.

⁴¹ But Moses said, Wherefore transgresse yee thus the commandement of the Lord? it will not so come well to passe.

¹⁴ Also thou hast not brought vs vnto a land that floweth with milke and honie, neither giuen vs inheritance of fieldes and vineyardes: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come vp.

¹³ And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and wil not forsake my people Israel.

⁵⁷ The Lord our God be with vs, as he was with our fathers, that he forsake vs not, neither leaue vs,

¹¹ And forgate his Actes, and his wonderfull woorkes that he had shewed them.

³⁸ Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, and destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, and did not stirre vp all his wrath.

⁴² They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie, ⁴³ Nor him that set his signes in Egypt, and his wonders in the fielde of Zoan,

⁵ For thou, Lord, art good and mercifull, and of great kindenes vnto all them, that call vpon thee.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord, art a pitifull God and mercifull, slowe to anger and great in kindenes and trueth.

⁸ The Lord is full of compassion and mercie, slowe to anger and of great kindnesse. ⁹ He will not alway chide, neither keepe his anger for euer. ¹⁰ He hath not dealt with vs after our sinnes, nor rewarded vs according to our iniquities. ¹¹ For as high as the heauen is aboue ye earth, so great is his mercie toward them that feare him. ¹² As farre as the East is from the West: so farre hath he remooued our sinnes from vs. ¹³ As a father hath compassion on his children, so hath the Lord compassion on them that feare him. ¹⁴ For he knoweth whereof we be made: he remembreth that we are but dust. ¹⁵ The dayes of man are as grasse: as a flowre of the fielde, so florisheth he. ¹⁶ For the winde goeth ouer it, and it is gone, and the place thereof shall knowe it no more. ¹⁷ But the louing kindnesse of the Lord endureth for euer and euer vpon them that feare him, and his righteousnes vpon childrens children, ¹⁸ Vnto them that keepe his couenant, and thinke vpon his commandements to doe them.

⁷ Our fathers vnderstoode not thy wonders in Egypt, neither remembred they the multitude of thy mercies, but rebelled at the Sea, euen at the red sea.

¹³ But incontinently they forgate his workes: they wayted not for his counsell,

²⁴ Also they contemned that pleasant land, and beleeued not his worde, ²⁵ But murmured in their tentes, and hearkened not vnto the voice of the Lord.

⁴³ Many a time did hee deliuer them, but they prouoked him by their counsels: therefore they were brought downe by their iniquitie. ⁴⁴ Yet hee sawe when they were in affliction, and he heard their crie. ⁴⁵ And he remembred his couenant towarde them and repented according to the multitude of his mercies, ⁴⁶ And gaue them fauour in the sight of all them that lead them captiues.

⁴ But mercie is with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

⁸ The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great mercie. ⁹ The Lord is good to all, and his mercies are ouer all his workes.

²⁴ Because I haue called, and ye refused: I haue stretched out mine hand, and none woulde regarde.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his wayes, and the vnrighteous his owne imaginations, and returne vnto the Lord, and he wil haue mercy vpon him: and to our God, for hee is very ready to forgiue. ⁸ For my thoughtes are not your thoughts, neither are your wayes my wayes, sayth the Lord. ⁹ For as ye heauens are higher then the earth, so are my wayes higher then your wayes, and my thoughtes aboue your thoughts.

¹³ And rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turne vnto the Lord your God, for he is gratious, and mercifull, slowe to anger, and of great kindnes, and repenteth him of the euill.

¹⁸ Who is a God like vnto thee, that taketh away iniquitie, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage! He reteineth not his wrath for euer, because mercie pleaseth him. ¹⁹ He will turne againe, and haue compassion vpon vs: he will subdue our iniquities, and cast all their sinnes into the bottome of the sea.

⁹ Doe ye not yet perceiue, neither remember the fiue loaues, when there were fiue thousand men, and how many baskets tooke ye vp? ¹⁰ Neither the seuen loaues when there were foure thousande men, and howe many baskets tooke ye vp? ¹¹ Why perceiue ye not that I said not vnto you concerning bread, that ye shoulde beware of the leauen of the Pharises and Sadduces?

³⁹ To whom our fathers would not obey, but refused, and in their hearts turned backe againe into Egypt:

¹⁵ For he saith to Moses, I wil haue mercy on him, to whom I wil shew mercie: and wil haue compassion on him, on who I wil haue copassion.

⁶ To the prayse of the glory of his grace, wherewith he hath made vs freely accepted in his beloued, ⁷ By whom we haue redemption through his blood, euen the forgiuenes of sinnes, according to his rich grace:

²⁵ See that ye despise not him that speaketh: for if they escaped not which refused him, that spake on earth: much more shall we not escape, if we turne away from him, that speaketh from heauen.

¹² Wherefore, I will not be negligent to put you alwayes in remembrance of these things, though that ye haue knowledge, and be stablished in the present trueth. ¹³ For I thinke it meete as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp by putting you in remembrance, ¹⁴ Seeing I knowe that the time is at hand that I must lay downe this my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me. ¹⁵ I will endeuour therefore alwayes, that ye also may be able to haue remembrance of these things after my departing.
