¹³ Thou camest downe also vpon mount Sinai, and spakest vnto them from heauen, and gauest them right iudgements, and true lawes, ordinances and good commandements,

¹¹ And let them be ready on the third day: for the thirde day the Lord will come downe in the sight of all the people vpon mount Sinai:

¹⁶ And the thirde day, when it was morning, there was thunders and lightnings, and a thicke cloude vpon the mount, and the sounde of the trumpet exceeding loude, so that all the people, that was in the campe, was afrayde. ¹⁷ Then Moses brought the people out of the tents to meete with God, and they stoode in the nether part of the mount. ¹⁸ And mount Sinai was all on smoke, because the Lord came downe vpon it in fire, and the smoke therof ascended, as the smoke of a fornace, and all the mount trembled exceedingly. ¹⁹ And when the sound of the trumpet blew long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by voyce. ²⁰ (For the Lord came downe vpon mount Sinai on the toppe of the mount) and when the Lord called Moses vp into the top of the mount, Moses went vp.

¹ Then God spake all these wordes, saying,

²² And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Thus thou shalt say vnto the children of Israel, Ye haue seene that I haue talked with you from heauen.

⁸ And what nation is so great, that hath ordinances and lawes so righteous, as all this Lawe, which I set before you this day?

¹⁰ Forget not the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said vnto me, Gather me the people together, and I wil cause them heare my wordes, that they may learne to feare me all the dayes that they shall liue vpon the earth, and that they may teache their children: ¹¹ Then came you neere and stoode vnder the mountaine, and the mountaine burnt with fire vnto the mids of heauen, and there was darkenesse, cloudes and mist. ¹² And the Lord spake vnto you out of the middes of the fire, and ye heard the voyce of the wordes, but sawe no similitude, saue a voyce. ¹³ Then hee declared vnto you his couenant which he commanded you to doe, euen the ten commandements, and wrote them vpon two tables of stone.

³³ Did euer people heare the voyce of God speaking out of the middes of a fire, as thou hast heard, and liued?

⁴ The Lord talked with you face to face in the Mount, out of the middes of the fire.

²² These wordes the Lord spake vnto all your multitude in the mount out of the mids of the fire, the cloude and the darkenes, with a great voyce, and added no more thereto: and wrote them vpon two tables of stone, and deliuered them vnto me. ²³ And when ye heard the voyce out of the middes of the darkenes, (for the mountaine did burne with fire) then ye came to me, all the chiefe of your tribes, and your Elders: ²⁴ And ye sayd, Beholde, the Lord our God hath shewed vs his glory and his greatnes, and we haue heard his voyce out of the middes of the fire: we haue seene this day that God doeth talke with man, and he liueth. ²⁵ Now therefore, why should we dye? for this great fire wil consume vs: if we heare ye voyce of the Lord our God any more, we shall dye. ²⁶ For what flesh was there euer, that heard the voyce of the liuing God speaking out of the middes of the fire as we haue, and liued?

¹² And nowe, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to feare the Lord thy God, to walke in all his wayes, and to loue him, and to serue the Lord thy God, with all thine heart, and with all thy soule? ¹³ That thou keepe the commandements of the Lord, and his ordinances, which I commaund thee this day, for thy wealth?

² The Lord came from Sinai, and rose vp from Seir vnto them, and appeared clearely from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of Saints, and at his right hand a firie Lawe for them.

⁷ The Lawe of the Lord is perfite, conuerting the soule: the testimonie of the Lord is sure, and giueth wisedome vnto the simple. ⁸ The statutes of the Lord are right and reioyce the heart: the commandement of the Lord is pure, and giueth light vnto the eyes. ⁹ The feare of the Lord is cleane, and indureth for euer: the iudgements of the Lord are trueth: they are righteous altogether, ¹⁰ And more to be desired then golde, yea, then much fine golde: sweeter also then honie and the honie combe. ¹¹ Moreouer by them is thy seruant made circumspect, and in keeping of them there is great reward.

¹²⁷ Therefore loue I thy commandements aboue golde, yea, aboue most fine golde. ¹²⁸ Therefore I esteeme all thy precepts most iust, and hate all false wayes.

¹³⁷ TSADDI. Righteous art thou, O Lord, and iust are thy iudgements.

¹⁶⁰ The beginning of thy worde is trueth, and all the iudgements of thy righteousnesse endure for euer.

¹ Oh, that thou wouldest breake the heauens, and come downe, and that the mountaines might melt at thy presence!

³ When thou diddest terrible things, which we looked not for, thou camest downe, and the mountaines melted at thy presence.

¹¹ And I gaue them my statutes, and declared my iudgements vnto them, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them. ¹² Moreouer I gaue them also my Sabbaths to be a signe betweene me and them, that they might knowe that I am the Lord, that sanctifie them. ¹³ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wildernes: they walked not in my statutes, and they cast away my iudgements, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them, and my Sabbaths haue they greatly polluted: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them in the wildernes to consume them,

³ God commeth from Teman, and the holy one from mount Paran, Selah. His glory couereth the heauens, and the earth is full of his prayse,

¹² Wherefore the Lawe is holy, and that commandement is holy, and iust, and good. ¹³ Was that then which is good, made death vnto me? God forbid: but sinne, that it might appeare sinne, wrought death in me by that which is good, that sinne might be out of measure sinfull by the commandement. ¹⁴ For we knowe that the Law is spirituall, but I am carnall, solde vnder sinne.

¹⁶ If I doe then that which I woulde not, I consent to the Lawe, that it is good.

¹⁸ For ye are not come vnto the mount that might be touched, nor vnto burning fire, nor to blacknes and darkenes, and tempest, ¹⁹ Neither vnto the sounde of a trumpet, and the voyce of wordes, which they that heard it, excused themselues, that the word should not be spoken to them any more, ²⁰ (For they were not able to abide that which was commanded, yea, though a beast touche the mountaine, it shalbe stoned, or thrust through with a dart: ²¹ And so terrible was the sight which appeared, that Moses said, I feare and quake.) ²² But ye are come vnto the mount Sion, and to the citie of the liuing God, the celestiall Hierusalem, and to ye company of innumerable Angels, ²³ And to the assemblie and congregation of the first borne, which are written in heauen, and to God the iudge of all, and to the spirits of iust and perfite men, ²⁴ And to Iesus the Mediatour of the new Testament, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things then that of Abel. ²⁵ See that ye despise not him that speaketh: for if they escaped not which refused him, that spake on earth: much more shall we not escape, if we turne away from him, that speaketh from heauen. ²⁶ Whose voyce then shooke the earth and nowe hath declared, saying, Yet once more will I shake, not the earth onely, but also heauen.
