²⁶ And he said vnto them, Why are ye fearefull, O ye of litle faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea: and so there was a great calme.

⁸ Or who hath shut vp the Sea with doores, when it yssued and came foorth as out of the wombe: ⁹ When I made the cloudes as a couering thereof, and darkenesse as the swadeling bands thereof: ¹⁰ When I stablished my commandement vpon it, and set barres and doores, ¹¹ And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no farther, and here shall it stay thy proude waues.

⁷ He appeaseth the noyse of the seas and the noyse of the waues thereof, and the tumults of the people.

⁹ Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waues thereof arise, thou stillest them.

³ The floodes haue lifted vp, O Lord: the floodes haue lifted vp their voyce: the floods lift vp their waues. ⁴ The waues of ye sea are marueilous through the noyse of many waters, yet the Lord on High is more mightie.

⁶ Thou coueredst it with the deepe as with a garment: the waters woulde stand aboue the mountaines. ⁷ But at thy rebuke they flee: at the voyce of thy thunder they haste away. ⁸ And the mountaines ascend, and the valleis descend to the place which thou hast established for them. ⁹ But thou hast set them a bounde, which they shall not passe: they shall not returne to couer the earth.

²⁸ Then they crie vnto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresse. ²⁹ He turneth the storme to calme, so that the waues thereof are still. ³⁰ When they are quieted, they are glad, and hee bringeth them vnto the hauen, where they would be.

³ The Sea sawe it and fled: Iorden was turned backe. ⁴ The mountaines leaped like rams, and the hils as lambes. ⁵ What ailed thee, O Sea, that thou fleddest? O Iorden, why wast thou turned backe? ⁶ Ye mountaines, why leaped ye like rams, and ye hils as lambes? ⁷ The earth trembled at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Iaakob,

²⁸ When he established the cloudes aboue, when he confirmed the fountaines of the deepe, ²⁹ When he gaue his decree to the Sea, that the waters shoulde not passe his commandement: when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

¹⁰ Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice. ¹¹ Beholde, all they that prouoke thee, shalbe ashamed, and confounded: they shalbe as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish. ¹² Thou shalt seeke them and shalt not finde them: to wit, the men of thy strife, for they shall be as nothing, and the men that warre against thee, as a thing of nought. ¹³ For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying vnto thee, Feare not, I wil helpe thee. ¹⁴ Feare not, thou worme, Iaakob, and ye men of Israel: I wil helpe thee, sayth the Lord and thy redeemer the holy one of Israel.

² Wherefore came I, and there was no man? I called, and none answered: is mine hand so shortened, that it cannot helpe? or haue I no power to deliuer? Beholde, at my rebuke I drie vp the Sea: I make the floods desert: their fish rotteth for want of water, and dieth for thirst. ³ I clothe the heauens with darkenesse, and make a sacke their couering. ⁴ The Lord God hath giuen me a tongue of the learned, that I shoulde knowe to minister a woord in time to him that is weary: he will raise me vp in the morning: in the morning hee will waken mine eare to heare, as the learned.

¹² He led them by the right hand of Moses with his owne glorious arme, deuiding the water before them, to make himselfe an euerlasting Name.

⁴ He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.

⁸ Was the Lord angry against the riuers? or was thine anger against the floods? or was thy wrath against the sea, that thou diddest ride vpon thine horses? thy charets brought saluation.

³⁰ Wherefore if God so clothe the grasse of the fielde which is to day, and to morowe is cast into the ouen, shall he not doe much more vnto you, O ye of litle faith?

²⁷ And the men marueiled, saying, What man is this, that both the windes and the sea obey him!

³⁰ But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me. ³¹ So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?

⁸ But Iesus knowing it, saide vnto them, O ye of litle faith, why reason you thus among your selues, because ye haue brought no bread?

³⁹ And hee rose vp, and rebuked the winde, and saide vnto the sea, Peace, and be still. So the winde ceased, and it was a great calme. ⁴⁰ Then he saide vnto them, Why are ye so fearefull? how is it that ye haue no faith? ⁴¹ And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who is this, that both the winde and sea obey him?

⁴⁸ And he saw them troubled in rowing, (for the winde was contrary vnto them) and about the fourth watch of the night, hee came vnto them, walking vpon the sea, and would haue passed by them. ⁴⁹ And when they saw him walking vpon the sea, they supposed it had bene a spirit, and cried out. ⁵⁰ For they all saw him, and were sore afrayd: but anon he talked with them, and said vnto them, Be ye of good comfort: it is I, be not afrayd. ⁵¹ Then he went vp vnto them into the ship, and the winde ceased, and they were much more amased in them selues, and marueiled.

²⁴ Then they went to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. And he arose, and rebuked the winde, and the waues of water: and they ceased, and it was calme. ²⁵ Then he sayde vnto them, Where is your fayth? and they feared, and wondered among them selues, saying, Who is this that commandeth both the windes and water, and they obey him!

²⁰ Neither did he doubt of the promise of God through vnbeliefe, but was strengthened in the faith, and gaue glorie to God,

² And hee had in his hande a little booke open, and he put his right foote vpon the sea, and his left on the earth,
