³⁴ But I say vnto you, Sweare not at all, neither by heauen, for it is the throne of God:

²¹ When thou shalt vowe a vowe vnto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not be slacke to paye it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee, and so it should be sinne vnto thee. ²² But when thou absteinest from vowing, it shalbe no sinne vnto thee. ²³ That which is gone out of thy lippes, thou shalt keepe and performe, as thou hast vowed it willingly vnto the Lord thy God: for thou hast spoken it with thy mouth.

² All things come alike to all: and the same condition is to the iust and to the wicked, to the good and to the pure, and to the polluted, and to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner, he that sweareth, as he that feareth an othe.

¹⁵ For thus sayth he that is hie and excellent, he that inhabiteth the eternitie, whose Name is the Holy one, I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirite to reuiue the spirite of the humble, and to giue life to them that are of a contrite heart.

¹ Thus saith the Lord, The heauen is my throne, and the earth is my footestoole: where is that house that ye will builde vnto me? and where is that place of my rest?

¹⁶ Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth. ¹⁷ Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde? ¹⁸ And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth. ¹⁹ Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering? ²⁰ Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. ²² And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

¹² But before all thinges, my brethren, sweare not, neither by heauen, nor by earth, nor by any other othe: but let your yea, be yea, and your nay, nay, lest ye fall into condemnation.
