⁹ Then Pilate answered them, and said, Will ye that I let loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?

¹⁷ When they were then gathered together, Pilate said vnto the, Whether will ye that I let loose vnto you Barabbas, or Iesus which is called Christ? ¹⁸ (For he knewe well, that for enuie they had deliuered him. ¹⁹ Also when he was set downe vpon the iudgement seate, his wife sent to him, saying, Haue thou nothing to do with that iust man: for I haue suffered many things this day in a dreame by reason of him.) ²⁰ But the chiefe Priestes and the Elders had persuaded the people that they shoulde aske Barabbas, and should destroy Iesus. ²¹ Then the gouernour answered, and said vnto them, Whether of the twaine will ye that I let loose vnto you? ³⁹ But you haue a custome, that I shoulde deliuer you one loose at the Passeouer: will yee then that I loose vnto you the King of ye Iewes?

⁴ Then Pilate went foorth againe, and said vnto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may knowe, that I finde no fault in him at all. ⁵ Then came Iesus foorth wearing a crowne of thornes, and a purple garment. And Pilate said vnto them, Beholde the man.

¹⁴ And it was the Preparation of the Passeouer, and about the sixt houre: and hee sayde vnto the Iewes, Beholde your King. ¹⁵ But they cried, Away with him, away with him, crucifie him. Pilate sayde vnto them, Shall I crucifie your King? The high Priestes answered, We haue no King but Cesar. ¹⁶ Then deliuered he him vnto them, to be crucified. And they tooke Iesus, and led him away.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Sonne Iesus, whom ye betrayed, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had iudged him to be deliuered. ¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy one and the Iust, and desired a murtherer to be giuen you, ¹⁵ And killed the Lord of life, whome God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses.
