⁴⁶ Then there arose a disputation among them, which of them should be the greatest.

¹ The same time the disciples came vnto Iesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdome of heauen? ² And Iesus called a litle childe vnto him, and set him in the mids of them, ³ And sayd, Verely I say vnto you, except ye be conuerted, and become as litle children, ye shall not enter into the kingdome of heauen. ⁴ Whosoeuer therefore shall humble himselfe as this litle childe, the same is the greatest in the kingdome of heauen. ⁵ And whosoeuer shall receiue one such litle childe in my name, receiueth me.

²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedeus children with her sonnes, worshipping him, and desiring a certaine thing of him. ²¹ And he said vnto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Graunt that these my two sonnes may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdome. ²² And Iesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye aske. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and to be baptized with the baptisme that I shalbe baptized with? They said to him, We are able.

⁶ And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

³³ After, he came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among you by the way? ³⁴ And they helde their peace: for by the way they reasoned among themselues, who should bee the chiefest. ³⁵ And he sate downe, and called the twelue, and said to them, If any man desire to be first, the same shalbe last of all, and seruant vnto all. ³⁶ And he tooke a litle childe, and set him in the middes of them, and tooke him in his armes, and sayd vnto them, ³⁷ Whosoeuer shall receiue one of such litle children in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer receiueth mee, receiueth not me, but him that sent me.

⁷ He spake also a parable to the ghestes, when he marked howe they chose out the chiefe roomes, and said vnto them, ⁸ When thou shalt be bidden of any man to a wedding, set not thy selfe downe in the chiefest place, lest a more honourable man then thou, be bidden of him, ⁹ And he that bade both him and thee, come, and say to thee, Giue this man roome, and thou then begin with shame to take the lowest roome. ¹⁰ But when thou art bidden, goe and sit downe in the lowest roome, that when he that bade thee, cometh, he may say vnto thee, Friende, sit vp hier: then shalt thou haue worship in the presence of them that sit at table with thee. ¹¹ For whosoeuer exalteth himselfe, shall be brought lowe, and he that humbleth himselfe, shall be exalted.

²⁴ And there arose also a strife among them, which of them should seeme to be ye greatest. ²⁵ But hee saide vnto them, The Kings of the Gentiles reigne ouer them, and they that beare rule ouer them, are called bountifull. ²⁶ But yee shall not be so: but let the greatest among you be as the least: and the chiefest as he that serueth. ²⁷ For who is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serueth? Is not he that sitteth at table? And I am among you as he that serueth.

³ For I say through the grace that is giuen vnto me, to euery one that is among you, that no man presume to vnderstande aboue that which is meete to vnderstand, but that he vnderstande according to sobrietie, as God hath dealt to euery man the measure of faith.

¹⁰ Be affectioned to loue one another with brotherly loue. In giuing honour, goe one before another,

²⁰ Idolatrie, witchcraft, hatred, debate, emulations, wrath, contentions, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Enuie, murthers, drunkennesse, gluttonie, and such like, whereof I tell you before, as I also haue tolde you before, that they which doe such things, shall not inherite the kingdome of God.

²⁵ If we liue in the Spirit, let vs also walke in the Spirit. ²⁶ Let vs not be desirous of vaine glorie, prouoking one another, enuying one another.

³ That nothing be done through contention or vaine glory, but that in meekenesse of minde euery man esteeme other better then himselfe.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and reasonings,

⁹ I wrote vnto the Church: but Diotrephes which loueth to haue the preeminence among them, receiueth vs not.
