²¹ For I feared thee, because thou art a straight man: thou takest vp, that thou layedst not downe, and reapest that thou diddest not sowe.

¹⁹ And sayde vnto Moses, Talke thou with vs, and we will heare: but let not God talke with vs, lest we die. ²⁰ Then Moses sayde vnto the people, Feare not: for God is come to proue you, and that his feare may be before you, that ye sinne not.

¹⁹ And hee smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked in the Arke of the Lord: he slew euen among the people fiftie thousand men and three score and ten men. and the people lamented, because the Lord had slaine the people with so great a slaughter. ²⁰ Wherefore the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall he go from vs? ²¹ And they sent messengers to the inhabitans of Kiriath-iearim, saying, The Philistims haue brought againe the Arke of the Lord: come ye downe and take it vp to you.

²⁰ And Samuel said vnto the people, Feare not. (ye haue indeede done all this wickednesse, yet depart not from following the Lord, but serue the Lord with all your heart,

⁹ Therefore Dauid that day feared the Lord, and sayd, How shall the Arke of the Lord come to mee? ¹⁰ So Dauid would not bring the Arke of the Lord vnto him into the citie of Dauid, but Dauid caried it into ye house of Obed-edom a Gittite. ¹¹ And the Arke of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite, three moneths, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom, and all his houshold.

¹⁴ They say also vnto God, Depart from vs: for we desire not the knowledge of thy wayes. ¹⁵ Who is the Almightie, that we should serue him? and what profit should we haue, if we should pray vnto him?

²⁵ Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equall: heare now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equall? or are not your wayes vnequall? ²⁶ For when a righteous man turneth away from his righteousnes, and committeth iniquitie, he shall euen die for the same, he shall euen die for his iniquitie, that he hath done. ²⁷ Againe when the wicked turneth away from his wickednes that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawfull and right, he shall saue his soule aliue. ²⁸ Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that hee hath committed, he shall surely liue and shall not die. ²⁹ Yet saith ye house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equall. O house of Israel, are not my wayes equall? or are not your wayes vnequall?

¹⁴ Ye haue saide, It is in vaine to serue God: and what profite is it that we haue kept his commandement, and that we walked humbly before the Lord of hostes? ¹⁵ Therefore wee count the proude blessed: euen they that worke wickednesse, are set vp, and they that tempt God, yea, they are deliuered.

²⁴ Then he which had receiued the one talent, came, and said, Master, I knewe that thou wast an hard man, which reapest where thou sowedst not, and gatherest where thou strawedst not: ²⁵ I was therefore afraide, and went, and hid thy talent in the earth: behold, thou hast thine owne.

⁷ Because the wisedome of the flesh is enimitie against God: for it is not subiect to the Lawe of God, neither in deede can be.

¹⁵ For ye haue not receiued the Spirit of bodage, to feare againe: but ye haue receiued the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father.

⁷ For God hath not giuen to vs the Spirite of feare, but of power, and of loue, and of a sound minde.

¹⁰ For whosoeuer shall keepe the whole Lawe, and yet faileth in one poynt, hee is guiltie of all.

¹⁸ There is no feare in loue, but perfect loue casteth out feare: for feare hath painefulnesse: and he that feareth, is not perfect in loue.

¹⁵ To giue iudgement against al men, and to rebuke all the vngodly among them of all their wicked deeds, which they haue vngodly committed, and of all their cruel speakings, which wicked sinners haue spoken against him.
