¹⁹ And I wil say to my soule, Soule, thou hast much goods laide vp for many yeeres: liue at ease, eate, drinke and take thy pastime.

¹¹ And houses full of all maner of goods which thou filledst not, and welles digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliue trees which thou plantedst not, and when thou hast eaten and art full, ¹² Beware least thou forget the Lord, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹² Lest when thou hast eaten and filled thy selfe, and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein, ¹³ And thy beastes, and thy sheepe are increased, and thy siluer and golde is multiplied, and all that thou hast is increased, ¹⁴ Then thine heart be lifted vp and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage,

¹ Man that is borne of woman, is of short continuance, and full of trouble.

¹¹ They send forth their children like sheepe, and their sonnes dance. ¹² They take the tabret and harpe, and reioyce in the sound of the organs. ¹³ They spend their dayes in wealth, and suddenly they go downe to the graue.

²⁴ If I made gold mine hope, or haue sayd to the wedge of golde, Thou art my confidence, ²⁵ If I reioyced because my substance was great, or because mine hand had gotten much,

⁵ Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles? ⁶ They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches. ⁷ Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God, ⁸ (So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer) ⁹ That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue. ¹⁰ For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others. ¹¹ Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names. ¹² But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die. ¹³ This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. Selah.

¹⁸ For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.

⁵ So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. Selah. ⁶ The righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying, ⁷ Beholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.

¹⁰ Trust not in oppression nor in robberie: be not vaine: if riches increase, set not your heart thereon.

¹¹ The rich mans riches are his strong citie: and as an hie wall in his imagination.

⁵ Wilt thou cast thine eyes vpon it, which is nothing? for riches taketh her to her wings, as an eagle, and flyeth into the heauen.

¹ Boast not thy selfe of to morowe: for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

⁹ Reioyce, O yong man, in thy youth, and let thine heart cheere thee in the dayes of thy youth: and walke in the waies of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but knowe that for all these things, God wil bring thee to iudgement.

⁸ Woe vnto them that ioyne house to house, and laye fielde to fielde, till there bee no place, that ye may be placed by your selues in the mids of the earth.

¹¹ Wo vnto them, that rise vp early to follow drunkennes, and to them that continue vntill night, till the wine doe inflame them.

¹³ And beholde, ioy and gladnes, slaying oxen and killing sheepe, eating flesh, and drinking wine, eating and drinking: for to morowe we shall die.

⁸ And Ephraim saide, Notwithstanding I am rich, I haue found me out riches in all my labours: they shall finde none iniquitie in me, that were wickednesse.

³ Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie? ⁴ They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall. ⁵ They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid. ⁶ They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.

¹⁶ Therefore they sacrifice vnto their net, and burne incense vnto their yarne, because by them their portion is fat and their meat plenteous.

¹⁹ Lay not vp treasures for your selues vpon the earth, where the mothe and canker corrupt, and where theeues digge through and steale. ²⁰ But lay vp treasures for your selues in heauen, where neither the mothe nor canker corrupteth, and where theeues neither digge through, nor steale. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

¹⁹ There was a certaine riche man, which was clothed in purple and fine linnen, and fared well and delicately euery day.

³⁴ Take heede to your selues, lest at any time your hearts be oppressed with surfeting and drunkennesse, and cares of this life, and least that day come on you at vnwares.

³² If I haue fought with beastes at Ephesus after ye maner of men, what aduantageth it me, if the dead be not raised vp? let vs eate and drinke: for to morowe we shall die.

¹⁹ Whose ende is damnation, whose God is their bellie, and whose glorie is to their shame, which minde earthly things.

⁶ But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.

¹⁷ Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, and that they trust not in vncertaine riches, but in the liuing God, (which giueth vs aboundantly, all things to enioy)

⁴ Traitours, headie, high minded, louers of pleasures more then louers of God,

¹³ Goe to now ye that say, To day or to morowe we will goe into such a citie, and continue there a yeere, and bye and sell, and get gaine, ¹⁴ (And yet ye cannot tell what shalbe to morowe. For what is your life? It is euen a vapour that appeareth for a litle time, and afterward vanisheth away) ¹⁵ For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, and, if we liue, we will doe this or that.

¹ Goe to nowe, ye rich men: weepe, and howle for your miseries that shall come vpon you. ² Your riches are corrupt, and your garments are moth eaten. ³ Your gold and siluer is cankred, and the rust of them shalbe a witnesse against you, and shall eate your flesh, as it were fire. Ye haue heaped vp treasure for the last dayes.

⁵ Ye haue liued in pleasure on the earth, and in wantonnes. Ye haue nourished your heartes, as in a day of slaughter.

³ For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spet the time past of ye life, after the lust of the Gentiles, walking in wantonnes, lustes, drunkennes, in gluttonie, drinkings, and in abominable idolatries.

⁷ In as much as she glorified her selfe, and liued in pleasure, so much giue ye to her torment and sorow: for she saith in her heart, I sit being a queene, and am no widowe, and shall see no mourning.
