⁴⁹ Therefore said the wisedome of God, I wil sende them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slaie, and persecute away,

² To knowe wisdome, and instruction, to vnderstand ye wordes of knowledge, ³ To receiue instruction to do wisely, by iustice and iudgement and equitie, ⁴ To giue vnto the simple, sharpenesse of wit, and to the childe knowledge and discretion. ⁵ A wise man shall heare and increase in learning, and a man of vnderstanding shall attayne vnto wise counsels, ⁶ To vnderstand a parable, and the interpretation, the wordes of ye wise, and their darke sayings.

¹ Doth not wisedome crie? and vnderstanding vtter her voyce? ² She standeth in the top of the high places by the way in the place of the paths. ³ She cryeth besides the gates before the citie at the entrie of the doores, ⁴ O men, I call vnto you, and vtter my voyce to the children of men. ⁵ O ye foolish men, vnderstand wisedome, and ye, O fooles, be wise in heart. ⁶ Giue eare, for I will speake of excellent things, and the opening of my lippes, shall teache things that be right. ⁷ For my mouth shall speake the trueth, and my lippes abhorre wickednesse. ⁸ All the wordes of my mouth are righteous: there is no lewdenes, nor frowardnesse in them. ⁹ They are all plaine to him that will vnderstande, and streight to them that woulde finde knowledge. ¹⁰ Receiue mine instruction, and not siluer, and knowledge rather then fine golde. ¹¹ For wisdome is better then precious stones: and all pleasures are not to be compared vnto her. ¹² I wisdome dwell with prudence, and I find foorth knowledge and counsels.

¹ Wisedome hath built her house, and hewen out her seuen pillars. ² She hath killed her vitailes, drawen her wine, and prepared her table. ³ She hath sent forth her maydens and cryeth vpon the highest places of the citie, saying,

⁶ And the remnant tooke his seruants, and intreated them sharpely, and slewe them.

³⁴ Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie, ³⁵ That vpon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed vpon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, vnto the blood of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whome ye slewe betweene the Temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verely I say vnto you, all these things shall come vpon this generation.

¹⁶ Yea, ye shalbe betrayed also of your parents, and of your brethren, and kinsmen, and friendes, and some of you shall they put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall bee hated of all men for my Names sake.

⁴⁷ And that repentance, and remission of sinnes should be preached in his Name among all nations, beginning at Hierusalem.

² They shall excommunicate you: yea, the time shall come, that whosoeuer killeth you, will thinke that he doeth God seruice.

⁸ But yee shall receiue power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shalbe witnesses vnto me both in Hierusalem and in all Iudea, and in Samaria, and vnto the vttermost part of the earth.

⁵⁷ Then they gaue a shoute with a loude voyce, and stopped their eares, and ranne vpon him violently all at once,

³ But Saul made hauocke of the Church, and entred into euery house, and drewe out both men and women, and put them into prison.

¹ And Saul yet breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of ye Lord, went vnto the hie Priest, ² And desired of him letters to Damascus to the Synagogues, that if he found any that were of that way (either men or women) hee might bring them bound vnto Hierusalem.

¹ Nowe about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hands to vexe certaine of the Church, ² And he killed Iames the brother of Iohn with the sword.

⁴ And I persecuted this way vnto the death, binding and deliuering into prison both men and women. ⁵ As also ye chiefe Priest doeth beare me witnes, and al the company of the Elders: of whom also I receiued letters vnto the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring them which were there, bound vnto Hierusalem, that they might be punished.

²⁰ And when the blood of thy martyr Steuen was shed, I also stood by, and consented vnto his death, and kept the clothes of them that slew him.

¹⁰ Which thing I also did in Hierusalem: for many of the Saints I shut vp in prison, hauing receiued authoritie of the hie Priests, and when they were put to death, I gaue my sentence. ¹¹ And I punished them throughout all the Synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme, and being more mad against them, I persecuted them, euen vnto strange cities.

²⁴ But vnto them which are called, both of the Iewes and Grecians, we preach Christ, the power of God, and the wisedome of God.

³⁰ But ye are of him in Christ Iesus, who of God is made vnto vs wisedome and righteousnesse, and sanctification, and redemption,

²⁴ Of the Iewes fiue times receiued I fourtie stripes saue one. ²⁵ I was thrise beaten with roddes: I was once stoned: I suffered thrise shipwracke: night and day haue I bene in the deepe sea.

¹¹ Hee therefore gaue some to be Apostles, and some Prophets, and some Euangelists, and some Pastours, and Teachers,

³ In whom are hid all the treasures of wisedome and knowledge.
