²⁵ And in the fifth yeere shall ye eate of the fruite of it that it may yeelde to you the encrease thereof: I am the Lord your God.

³ If ye walke in mine ordinances, and keepe my commandements, and doe them, ⁴ I will then sende you raine in due season, and the land shall yelde her increase, and the trees of the fielde shall giue her fruite.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase. ¹⁰ So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.

¹ Cast thy bread vpon the waters: for after many daies thou shalt finde it. ² Giue a portion to seuen, and also to eight: for thou knowest not what euill shalbe vpon ye earth.

⁴ Is it time for your selues to dwell in your sieled houses, and this House lie waste? ⁵ Now therefore thus saith ye Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts. ⁶ Ye haue sowen much, and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not ynough: ye drinke, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warme: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bagge.

⁹ Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to litle: and when ye brought it home, I did blowe vpon it. And why, sayth the Lord of hostes? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye runne euery man vnto his owne house. ¹⁰ Therefore the heauen ouer you stayed it selfe from dewe, and the earth stayed her fruite. ¹¹ And I called for a drought vpon the land, and vpon the mountaines, and vpon the corne, and vpon the wine, and vpon the oyle, vpon all that the ground bringeth foorth: both vpon men and vpon cattell, and vpon all the labour of the hands.

¹⁸ I smote you with blasting, and with mildewe, and with haile, in all the labours of your hands: yet you turned not to me, saith the Lord. ¹⁹ Consider, I pray you, in your mindes, from this day, and afore from the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, euen from the day that the foundation of the Lords Temple was laide: consider it in your mindes.

⁸ Will a man spoyle his gods? yet haue ye spoyled me: but ye say, Wherein haue we spoyled thee? In tithes, and offerings. ⁹ Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye haue spoyled me, euen this whole nation. ¹⁰ Bring ye all the tythes into the storehouse that there may be meate in mine House, and proue me nowe herewith, sayeth the Lord of hostes, if I will not open the windowes of heauen vnto you, and powre you out a blessing without measure.
