¹⁸ And he was sore a thirst, and called on the Lord, and sayde, Thou hast giuen this great deliuerance into the hand of thy seruaunt: and nowe shall I dye for thirst, and fall into the handes of the vncircumcised?

¹² Therefore it will come to passe, that when the Egyptians see thee, they will say, She is his wife: so will they kill me, but they will keepe thee aliue. ¹³ Say, I pray thee, that thou art my sister, that I may fare well for thy sake, and that my life may be preserued by thee.

¹ And Dauid said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: is it not better for me that I saue my selfe in the lande of the Philistims, and that Saul may haue no hope of me to seeke me any more in all the coastes of Israel, and so escape out of his hand?

²⁰ Tell it not in Gath, nor publish it in the streetes of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistims reioyce, lest the daughters of the vncircumcised triumph.

⁷ O Lord, arise: helpe me, my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies vpon the cheeke bone: thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked. ⁸ Saluation belongeth vnto the Lord, and thy blessing is vpon thy people. Selah.

³¹ For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie saue our God? ³² God girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way vpright. ³³ He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and setteth me vpon mine high places. ³⁴ He teacheth mine hands to fight: so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes. ³⁵ Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy right hand hath stayed me, and thy louing kindenes hath caused me to increase. ³⁶ Thou hast enlarged my steps vnder mee, and mine heeles haue not slid. ³⁷ I haue pursued mine enemies, and taken them, and haue not turned againe till I had consumed them. ³⁸ I haue wounded them, that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete. ³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength to battell: them, that rose against me, thou hast subdued vnder me. ⁴⁰ And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

¹⁴ I am like water powred out, and all my bones are out of ioynt: mine heart is like waxe: it is molten in the middes of my bowels. ¹⁵ My strength is dryed vp like a potsheard, and my tongue cleaueth to my iawes, and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

²⁸ After, when Iesus knew that all things were performed, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst.

⁸ For brethren, we woulde not haue you ignorant of our affliction, which came vnto vs in Asia, howe we were pressed out of measure passing strength, so that we altogether doubted, euen of life. ⁹ Yea, we receiued the sentence of death in our selues, because we shoulde not trust in our selues, but in God, which rayseth the dead.

⁸ Wee are afflicted on euery side, yet are we not in distresse: we are in doubt, but yet wee despaire not. ⁹ We are persecuted, but not forsaken: cast downe, but we perish not.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted out of measure through the aboundance of reuelations, there was giuen vnto me a pricke in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet mee, because I should not be exalted out of measure. ⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord thrise, that it might depart from me.

³² And what shall I more say? for the time would be too short for me to tell of Gedeon, of Barac, and of Sampson, and of Iephte, also of Dauid, and Samuel, and of the Prophets:
