³² His branch shall not be greene, but shall be cut off before his day.

¹⁶ The tree is greene before the sunne, and the branches spread ouer the garden thereof. ¹⁷ The rootes thereof are wrapped about the fountaine, and are folden about ye house of stones. ¹⁸ If any plucke it from his place, and it denie, saying, I haue not seene thee, ¹⁹ Beholde, it will reioyce by this meanes, that it may growe in another molde.

⁷ For there is hope of a tree, if it bee cut downe, that it will yet sproute, and the branches thereof will not cease. ⁸ Though the roote of it waxe olde in the earth, and the stocke thereof be dead in ye ground, ⁹ Yet by the sent of water it will bud, and bring foorth boughes like a plant.

¹⁶ His rootes shalbe dryed vp beneath, and aboue shall his branche be cut downe. ¹⁷ His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall haue no name in the streete.

¹⁶ Which were cut downe before the time, whose foundation was as a riuer that ouerflowed:

⁵ So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. Selah. ⁶ The righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying, ⁷ Beholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice. ⁸ But I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.

²³ And thou, O God, shalt bring them downe into the pitte of corruption: the bloudie, and deceitfull men shall not liue halfe their dayes: but I will trust in thee.

¹⁷ I haue seene all things in the dayes of my vanitie: there is a iust man that perisheth in his iustice, and there is a wicked man that continueth long in his malice.

¹¹ When the boughes of it are drie, they shalbe broken: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of none vnderstading: therefore hee that made them, shall not haue compassion of them, and he that formed them, shall haue no mercie on them.

⁸ It was planted in a good soyle by great waters, that it should bring forth branches, and beare fruite, and be an excellent vine. ⁹ Say thou, Thus saith the Lord God, Shall it prosper? shall he not pull vp the rootes thereof, and destroy the fruite thereof, and cause them to drie? all the leaues of her bud shall wither without great power, or many people, to plucke it vp by the rootes thereof. ¹⁰ Beholde, it was planted: but shall it prosper? shall it not be dried vp, and wither? when the East winde shall touch it, it shall wither in the trenches, where it grewe.

¹⁶ Ephraim is smitten, their roote is dried vp: they can bring no fruite: yea, though they bring foorth, yet will I slaie euen the dearest of their bodie.

⁵ I wil heale their rebellion: I wil loue them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. ⁶ I will be as the dewe vnto Israel: he shall grow as the lilie and fasten his rootes, as the trees of Lebanon. ⁷ His branches shall spread, and his beautie shalbe as the oliue tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

⁶ If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branche, and withereth: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burne.
