⁴ Let euery one take heede of his neighbour, and trust you not in any brother: for euery brother will vse deceite, and euery friend will deale deceitfully,

³⁵ Who answered, Thy brother came with subtiltie, and hath taken away thy blessing. ³⁶ Then he sayde, Was hee not iustly called Iaakob? for hee hath deceiued mee these two times: he tooke my birthright, and loe, nowe hath he taken my blessing. Also he sayd, Hast thou not reserued a blessing for me?

²⁸ Then said he, Thy name shalbe called Iaakob no more, but Israel: because thou hast had power with God, thou shalt also preuaile with men.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not walke about with tales among thy people. Thou shalt not stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the Lord.

² They speake deceitfully euery one with his neighbour, flattering with their lips, and speake with a double heart. ³ The Lord cut off all flattering lippes, and the tongue that speaketh proude things:

³ He that slandereth not with his tongue, nor doeth euill to his neighbour, nor receiueth a false report against his neighbour.

¹¹ Wickednes is in the middes thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streetes. ¹² Surely mine enemie did not defame mee: for I could haue borne it: neither did mine aduersarie exalt himselfe against mee: for I would haue hid me from him.

¹⁶ These sixe things doeth the Lord hate: yea, his soule abhorreth seuen:

¹⁹ A false witnesse that speaketh lyes, and him that rayseth vp contentions among brethren.

¹⁸ He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.

¹⁸ A man that beareth false witnes against his neighbour, is like an hammer and a sword, and a sharpe arrowe.

²⁴ He that hateth, will counterfaite with his lips, but in his heart he layeth vp deceite. ²⁵ Though he speake fauourably, beleeue him not: for there are seuen abominations in his heart.

²⁸ They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.

⁶ For euen thy brethren, and the house of thy father, euen they haue delt vnfaithfully with thee, and they haue cryed out altogether vpon thee: but beleeue them not, though they speake faire to thee.

⁹ In thee are men that cary tales to shed blood: in thee are they that eate vpon the mountaines: in ye mids of thee they comit abomination.

⁵ Trust ye not in a friend, neither put ye confidence in a counseller: keepe the doores of thy mouth from her that lyeth in thy bosome. ⁶ For the sonne reuileth the father: ye daughter riseth vp against her mother: the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe, and a mans enemies are the men of his owne house.

¹⁷ But beware of men, for they will deliuer you vp to the Councils, and will scourge you in their Synagogues.

²¹ And the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the sonne, and the children shall rise against their parents, and shall cause them to die.

³⁴ Thinke not that I am come to sende peace into the earth: I came not to send peace, but the sworde. ³⁵ For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in lawe.

¹⁶ Yea, ye shalbe betrayed also of your parents, and of your brethren, and kinsmen, and friendes, and some of you shall they put to death.

⁶ That no man oppresse or defraude his brother in any matter: for the Lord is auenger of all such thinges, as we also haue tolde you before time, and testified.

¹ Wherefore, laying aside all maliciousnes, and all guile, and dissimulation, and enuie, and all euill speaking, ² As newe borne babes desire that sincere milke of the woorde, that yee may growe thereby,
