³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not.

¹⁵ But he that should haue bene vpright, when he waxed fat, spurned with his heele: thou art fat, thou art grosse, thou art laden with fatnes: therefore he forsooke God that made him, and regarded not the strong God of his saluation.

⁶ But I am a worme, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people. ⁷ All they that see me, haue me in derision: they make a mowe and nod the head, saying, ⁸ He trusted in the Lord, let him deliuer him: let him saue him, seeing he loueth him.

¹⁰ I wept and my soule fasted, but that was to my reproofe. ¹¹ I put on a sacke also: and I became a prouerbe vnto them. ¹² They that sate in the gate, spake of mee, and the drunkards sang of me.

¹⁹ Thou hast knowen my reproofe and my shame, and my dishonour: all mine aduersaries are before thee. ²⁰ Rebuke hath broken mine heart, and I am full of heauinesse, and I looked for some to haue pitie on me, but there was none: and for comforters, but I found none.

²⁹ When I am poore and in heauinesse, thine helpe, O God, shall exalt me.

⁷ Thus sayeth the Lord the redeemer of Israel, and his Holie one, to him that is despised in soule, to a nation that is abhorred, to a seruaunt of rulers, Kinges shall see, and arise, and princes shall worship, because of the Lord, that is faithfull: and ye Holy one of Israel, which hath chosen thee.

⁶ I gaue my backe vnto the smiters, and my cheekes to the nippers: I hidde not my face from shame and spitting.

⁴ Surely hee hath borne our infirmities, and caried our sorowes: yet wee did iudge him, as plagued, and smitten of God, and humbled.

¹⁰ Yet the Lord would breake him, and make him subiect to infirmities: when hee shall make his soule an offring for sinne, he shall see his seede and shall prolong his dayes, and the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

¹ Nowe assemble thy garisons, O daughter of garisons: he hath layed siege against vs: they shall smite the iudge of Israel with a rod vpon the cheeke.

⁸ Three shepherdes also I cut off in one moneth, and my soule lothed them, and their soule abhorred me.

¹² And I said vnto them, If ye thinke it good, giue me my wages: and if no, leaue off: so they weighed for my wages thirtie pieces of siluer. ¹³ And the Lord said vnto me, Cast it vnto the potter: a goodly price, that I was valued at of them. And I tooke the thirtie pieces of siluer, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.

³⁷ And hee tooke vnto him Peter, and the two sonnes of Zebedeus, and began to waxe sorowfull, and grieuously troubled. ³⁸ Then sayde Iesus vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie yee here, and watch with me.

⁶⁷ Then spet they in his face, and buffeted him, and other smote him with roddes,

⁹ (Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Ieremias the Prophet, saying, And they tooke thirtie siluer pieces, ye price of him that was valued, whom they of ye children of Israel valued. ¹⁰ And they gaue them for the potters fielde, as the Lord appointed me.)

³⁹ And they that passed by, reuiled him, wagging their heades, ⁴⁰ And saying, Thou that destroyest ye Temple, and buildest it in three dayes, saue thy selfe: if thou be ye Sonne of God, come downe from ye crosse. ⁴¹ Likewise also the hie Priests mocking him, with the Scribes, and Elders, and Pharises, said, ⁴² He saued others, but he cannot saue him selfe: if he be ye King of Israel, let him now come downe from ye crosse, and we will beleeue in him. ⁴³ He trusted in God, let him deliuer him nowe, if he will haue him: for he saide, I am the Sonne of God. ⁴⁴ The selfe same thing also ye theeues which were crucified with him, cast in his teeth.

⁶³ And said, Syr, we remember that that deceiuer saide, while he was yet aliue, Within three dayes I will rise.

¹² And he answered, and said vnto them, Elias verely shall first come, and restore all things: and as it is written of the Sonne of man, hee must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

³⁴ And saide vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie here, and watch.

¹⁹ And they smote him on the head with a reede, and spat vpon him, and bowed the knees, and did him reuerence.

⁵³ And they laught him to scorne, knowing that she was dead.

²² Saying, The Sonne of man must suffer many things and be reproued of the Elders, and of the hie Priests and Scribes, and be slaine, and the third day rise againe.

¹⁴ All these thinges heard the Pharises also which were couetous, and they scoffed at him.

³¹ Then Iesus tooke vnto him ye twelue, and said vnto them, Beholde, we goe vp to Hierusalem, and all things shalbe fulfilled to the Sonne of man, that are writttn by the Prophets. ³² For he shall be deliuered vnto the Gentiles, and shalbe mocked, and shalbe spitefully entreated, and shalbe spitted on. ³³ And when they haue scourged him, they will put him to death: but the thirde day hee shall rise againe.

⁴¹ And when he was come neere, he behelde the Citie, and wept for it,

¹⁸ Then all ye multitude cried at once, saying, Away with him, and deliuer vnto vs Barabbas: ¹⁹ Which for a certaine insurrection made in the citie, and murder, was cast in prison. ²⁰ Then Pilate spake againe to them, willing to let Iesus loose. ²¹ But they cried, saying, Crucifie, crucifie him. ²² And he sayd vnto them the third time, But what euill hath he done? I finde no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him loose. ²³ But they were instant with loude voyces, and required that he might be crucified: and the voyces of them and of the hie Priests preuailed. ²⁴ So Pilate gaue sentence, that it should be as they required. ²⁵ And he let loose vnto them him that for insurrection and murder was cast into prison, whome they desired, and deliuered Iesus to doe with him what they would.

¹⁰ He was in the world, and the worlde was made by him: and the worlde knewe him not. ¹¹ He came vnto his owne, and his owne receiued him not.

⁴⁸ Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritane, and hast a deuil?

³⁵ And Iesus wept.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Iacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Sonne Iesus, whom ye betrayed, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had iudged him to be deliuered. ¹⁴ But ye denied the Holy one and the Iust, and desired a murtherer to be giuen you, ¹⁵ And killed the Lord of life, whome God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses.

¹⁵ And that he might deliuer all them, which for feare of death were all their life time subiect to bondage. ¹⁶ For he in no sort tooke on him the Angels nature, but hee tooke on him the seede of Abraham. ¹⁷ Wherefore in all things it behoued him to be made like vnto his brethren, that hee might be mercifull, and a faithfull hie Priest in things concerning God, that he might make reconciliation for the sinnes of the people. ¹⁸ For in that he suffered, and was tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

¹⁵ For we haue not an hie Priest, which can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all things tempted in like sort, yet without sinne.

⁷ Who in the dayes of his flesh did offer vp prayers and supplications, with strong crying and teares vnto him, that was able to saue him from death, and was also heard in that which he feared.

² Looking vnto Iesus the authour and finisher of our faith, who for the ioy that was set before him, endured the crosse, and despised the shame, and is set at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes.
