⁵ Nowe therefore what haue I here, saith the Lord, that my people is taken away for naught, and they that rule ouer them, make them to howle, saith the Lord? and my Name all the day continually is blasphemed?

¹³ Wherefore the Egyptians by crueltie caused the children of Israel to serue. ¹⁴ Thus they made them weary of their liues by sore labour in clay and in bricke, and in al worke in the fielde, with all maner of bondage, which they layde vpon them most cruelly. ¹⁵ Moreouer the King of Egypt commanded ye midwiues of the Ebrewe women, (of which the ones name was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah) ¹⁶ And sayde, When ye doe the office of a midwife to the women of the Ebrewes, and see them on their stooles, if it be a sonne, then yee shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then let her liue.

²³ Then in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God. ²⁴ Then God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.

⁷ Then the Lord said, I haue surely seene the trouble of my people, which are in Egypt, and haue heard their crie, because of their taskemasters: for I knowe their sorowes.

³ When they were in the house of Michah, they knewe the voyce of the yong man the Leuite: and being turned in thither, they saide vnto him, Who brought thee hither? or what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou to doe here?

¹² Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.

¹⁶ For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.

¹⁰ O God, howe long shall the aduersarie reproche thee? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?

¹⁸ Remember this, that the enemie hath reproched the Lord, and the foolish people hath blasphemed thy Name.

²² Arise, O God: mainteine thine owne cause: remember thy dayly reproche by the foolish man. ²³ Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: for the tumult of them, that rise against thee, ascendeth continually.

¹ By the riuers of Babel we sate, and there wee wept, when we remembred Zion. ² Wee hanged our harpes vpon the willowes in the middes thereof.

¹⁶ What haste thou to doe here? and whome hast thou here? that thou shouldest here hewe thee out a sepulchre, as he that heweth out his sepulchre in an hie place, or that graueth an habitation for him selfe in a rocke?

⁶ And Isaiah sayde vnto them, Thus say vnto your master, Thus saith the Lord, Be not afrayd of the wordes that thou hast heard, wherewith the seruants of the king of Asshur haue blasphemed me.

²⁸ But I know thy dwelling, and thy going out, and thy comming in, and thy fury against me.

⁶ I was wroth with my people: I haue polluted mine inheritance, and giuen them into thine had: thou diddest shew them no mercy, but thou didest lay thy very heauy yoke vpon the ancient.

²⁰ Thy sonnes haue fainted, and lye at the head of all the streetes as a wilde bull in a nette, and are full of the wrath of the Lord, and rebuke of thy God.

²³ But I will put it into their hande that spoile thee: which haue said to thy soule, Bowe downe, that wee may goe ouer, and thou hast layde thy bodie as the grounde, and as the streete to them that went ouer.

³ For thus sayeth the Lord, Yee were solde for naught: therefore shall ye be redeemed without money.

¹⁷ Israel is like scattered sheepe: the lions haue dispersed them: first the King of Asshur hath deuoured him, and last this Nebuchad-nezzar King, of Babel hath broken his bones.

²¹ They haue heard that I mourne, but there is none to comfort mee: all mine enemies haue heard of my trouble, and are glad, that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day, that thou hast pronounced, and they shalbe like vnto me.

³ Hee hath cut off in his fierce wrath all the horne of Israel: he hath drawen backe his right hand from before the enemie, and there was kindled in Iaakob like a flame of fire, which deuoured rounde about.

¹³ They tooke the yong men to grinde, and the children fell vnder the wood. ¹⁴ The Elders haue ceased from the gate and the yong men from their songs. ¹⁵ The ioy of our heart is gone, our daunce is turned into mourning.

⁹ But I had respect to my Name, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whome they were, and in whose sight I made my selfe knowen vnto them in bringing them forth of the land of Egypt.

¹⁴ But I had respect to my Name, that it shoulde not bee polluted before the heathen in whose sight I brought them out.

²⁰ And when they entred vnto the heathen, whither they went, they polluted mine holy Name, when they sayd of them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone out of his land. ²¹ But I fauoured mine holy Name which the house of Israel had polluted among the heathen, whither they went. ²² Therfore say vnto the house of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God, I doe not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy Names sake, which yee polluted among the heathen whither ye went. ²³ And I wil sanctifie my great Name, which was polluted among the heathen, among whome you haue polluted it, and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, sayth the Lord God, when I shalbe sanctified in you before their eyes.

¹⁰ And in that day, saith the Lord, there shall be a noise, and cry from the fishgate, and an howling from the second gate, and a great destruction from the hilles.

²⁴ For ye Name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
