¹⁴ As many were astonied at thee (his visage was so deformed of men, and his forme of the sonnes of men) so shall hee sprinkle many nations: the Kings shall shut their mouthes at him: for that which had not bene tolde them, shall they see, and that which they had not heard, shall they vnderstande.

⁶ But I am a worme, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people. ⁷ All they that see me, haue me in derision: they make a mowe and nod the head, saying,

¹⁵ My strength is dryed vp like a potsheard, and my tongue cleaueth to my iawes, and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

¹⁷ I may tell all my bones: yet they beholde, and looke vpon me.

⁷ I am become as it were a monster vnto many: but thou art my sure trust.

³ For my dayes are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burnt like an herthe. ⁴ Mine heart is smitten and withereth like grasse, because I forgate to eate my bread. ⁵ For the voyce of my groning my bones doe cleaue to my skinne.

⁶ I gaue my backe vnto the smiters, and my cheekes to the nippers: I hidde not my face from shame and spitting.

² But hee shall growe vp before him as a branche, and as a roote out of a dry grounde: he hath neither forme nor beautie: when we shall see him, there shall be no forme that wee should desire him. ³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not. ⁴ Surely hee hath borne our infirmities, and caried our sorowes: yet wee did iudge him, as plagued, and smitten of God, and humbled. ⁵ But hee was wounded for our transgressions, hee was broken for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was vpon him, and with his stripes we are healed.

²⁸ And it came to passe, when Iesus had ended these wordes, the people were astonied at his doctrine.

²² And when they heard it, they marueiled, and left him, and went their way. ²³ The same day the Sadduces came to him (which say that there is no resurrection) and asked him,

⁶⁷ Then spet they in his face, and buffeted him, and other smote him with roddes,

²⁹ And platted a crowne of thornes, and put it vpon his head, and a reede in his right hand, and bowed their knees before him, and mocked him, saying, God saue thee King of the Iewes, ³⁰ And spitted vpon him, and tooke a reede, and smote him on the head.

⁴² And straightway the mayden arose, and walked: for shee was of the age of twelue yeeres, and they were astonied out of measure.

⁵¹ Then he went vp vnto them into the ship, and the winde ceased, and they were much more amased in them selues, and marueiled.

³⁷ And were beyonde measure astonied, saying, Hee hath done all thinges well: he maketh both the deafe to heare, and the domme to speake.

³⁶ So feare came on them all, and they spake among themselues, saying, What thing is this: for with authoritie and power he commaundeth the foule spirits, and they come out?

²⁶ And they were all amased, and praysed God, and were filled with feare, saying, Doutlesse we haue seene strange things to day.

⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded him, they smote him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophecie who it is that smote thee.
