⁴ When the Lord shall wash the filthines of the daughters of Zion, and purge the blood of Ierusalem out of the middes thereof by the spirite of iudgement, and by the spirit of burning.

¹⁵ And when you shall stretch out your hands, I wil hide mine eyes from you: and though ye make many prayers, I wil not heare: for your hands are full of blood.

³¹ And the strong shall be as towe, and the maker thereof, as a sparke: and they shall both burne together, and none shall quench them.

¹⁶ The Lord also saith, Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched out neckes, and with wandering eyes, walking and minsing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feete, ¹⁷ Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes. ¹⁸ In that day shall the Lord take away the ornament of the slippers, and the calles, and the round tyres, ¹⁹ The sweete balles, and the brasselets, and the bonnets, ²⁰ The tyres of the head, and the sloppes, and the head bandes, and the tablets, and the earings, ²¹ The rings and the mufflers, ²² The costly apparell and the vailes, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes, ²³ And the glasses and the fine linen, and the hoodes, and the launes. ²⁴ And in steade of sweete sauour, there shall be stinke, and in steade of a girdle, a rent, and in steade of dressing of the heare, baldnesse, and in steade of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth, and burning in steade of beautie. ²⁵ Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell. ²⁶ Then shall her gates mourne and lament, and she, being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.

⁵ Surely euery battell of the warriour is with noyse, and with tumbling of garments in blood: but this shall be with burning and deuouring of fire.

²⁰ Come, my people: enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doores after thee: hide thy selfe for a very litle while, vntill the indignation passe ouer. ²¹ For lo, the Lord commeth out of his place, to visite the iniquitie of the inhabitants of the earth vpon them: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more hide her slaine.

⁶ And for a spirite of iudgement to him that sitteth in iudgement, and for strength vnto them that turne away the battell to the gate.

⁹ Her filthinesse is in her skirts: she remembred not her last ende, therefore she came downe wonderfully: she had no comforter: O Lord, behold mine affliction: for the enemie is proud.

⁶ And when I passed by thee, I saw thee polluted in thine owne blood, and I said vnto thee, whe thou wast in thy blood, Thou shalt liue: euen when thou wast in thy blood, I saide vnto thee, Thou shalt liue. ⁷ I haue caused thee to multiplie as the bud of the fielde, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou hast gotten excellent ornaments: thy breastes are facioned, thine heare is growen, where as thou wast naked and bare. ⁸ Nowe when I passed by thee, and looked vpon thee, beholde, thy time was as the time of loue, and I spred my skirtes ouer thee, and couered thy filthines: yea, I sware vnto thee, and entred into a couenant with thee, saith the Lord God, and thou becamest mine. ⁹ Then washed I thee with water: yea, I washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oyle.

¹⁵ And I wil scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countreys, and will cause thy filthines to cease from thee.

¹⁸ Sonne of man, the house of Israel is vnto me as drosse: all they are brasse, and tinne, and yron, and leade in the mids of the fornace: they are euen the drosse of siluer. ¹⁹ Therefore, thus sayth the Lord God, Because ye are all as drosse, beholde, therefore I will gather you in the middes of Ierusalem. ²⁰ As they gather siluer and brasse, and yron, and leade, and tinne into the middes of the fornace, to blowe the fire vpon it to melt it, so wil I gather you in mine anger and in my wrath, and wil put you there and melt you. ²¹ I wil gather you, I say, and blowe the fire of my wrath vpon you, and you shalbe melted in the mids thereof. ²² As siluer is melted in the mids of the fornace, so shall ye be melted in the mids thereof, and ye shall knowe, that I the Lord haue powred out my wrath vpon you.

⁷ For her blood is in the middes of her: shee set it vpon an high rocke, and powred it not vpon on the ground to couer it with dust, ⁸ That it might cause wrath to arise, and take vengeance: euen I haue set her blood vpon an high rocke that it should not be couered. ⁹ Therefore thus saith ye Lord God, Woe to the bloody citie, for I will make ye burning great. ¹⁰ Heape on much wood: kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and cast in spice, and let the bones be burnt. ¹¹ Then set it emptie vpon the coles thereof, that the brasse of it may be hot, and may burne, and that the filthinesse of it may be molten in it, and that the skomme of it may be consumed. ¹² She hath wearied her selfe with lyes, and her great skomme went not out of her: therefore her skomme shall be consumed with fire. ¹³ Thou remainest in thy filthines and wickednes: because I would haue purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthines, till I haue caused my wrath to light vpon thee. ¹⁴ I the Lord haue spoken it: it shall come to passe, and I will doe it: I will not goe backe, neither will I spare, neither will I repent: according to thy wayes, and according to thy workes shall they iudge thee, sayeth the Lord God.

²⁵ Then wil I powre cleane water vpon you, and ye shalbe cleane: yea, from all your filthines, and from all your idoles wil I clense you.

²⁹ I will also deliuer you from all your filthinesse, and I will call for corne, and will increase it, and lay no famine vpon you.

²¹ For I will clense their blood, that I haue not clensed, and the Lord will dwell in Zion.

¹ Woe to her that is filthie and polluted, to the robbing citie.

³ Nowe Iehoshua was clothed with filthie garments, and stoode before the Angel. ⁴ And he answered and spake vnto those that stoode before him, saying, Take away the filthie garments from him. And vnto him hee saide, Behold, I haue caused thine iniquitie to depart from thee, and I wil clothe thee with change of raiment.

¹ In that day there shall be a fountaine opened to the house of Dauid, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem, for sinne and for vncleannesse.

⁹ And I will bring that third part thorowe the fire, and will fine them as the siluer is fined, and will trye them as golde is tryed: they shall call on my Name, and I will heare them: I will say, It is my people, and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

² But who may abide the day of his comming? and who shall endure, when he appeareth? for he is like a purging fire, and like fullers sope. ³ And he shall sit downe to trye and fine the siluer: he shall euen fine the sonnes of Leui and purifie them as golde and siluer, that they may bring offerings vnto the Lord in righteousnesse.

¹ For behold, the day commeth that shall burne as an ouen, and all the proude, yea, and all that doe wickedly, shall be stubble, and the day that commeth, shall burne them vp, sayeth the Lord of hostes, and shall leaue them neither roote nor branche.

¹¹ In deede I baptize you with water to amendment of life, but he that commeth after me, is mightier then I, whose shoes I am not worthie to beare: hee will baptize you with the holy Ghost, and with fire. ¹² Which hath his fanne in his hand, and wil make cleane his floore, and gather his wheate into his garner, but will burne vp the chaffe with vnquenchable fire.

³⁷ Hierusalem, Hierusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I haue gathered thy children together, as the henne gathereth her chickins vnder her wings, and ye would not!

⁸ And when he is come, he will reproue the worlde of sinne, and of righteousnesse, and of iudgement. ⁹ Of sinne, because they beleeued not in me: ¹⁰ Of righteousnesse, because I goe to my Father, and ye shall see me no more: ¹¹ Of iudgement, because the prince of this world is iudged.
